IBM LotusLive wants to Vondle and Tungle you

Please excuse the sex-ay title, but the 13 year old me had to chuckle at it, and with the all the other “LotusLive” posts you are going to see letting us know about the new feature announcements, I figured I’d have some fun with my post. Yesterday I had the privilege of joining a blogger conference call in which Sean Poulley, Brendan Crotty and Ed Brill went over some new announcements for LotusLive. First off if you couldn’t tell by my rapier wit with the title, LotusLive announced support for Tungle calendaring integration, as well as integration with Vondle Live

Microsoft Tablets To Be Announced October 11th

Apparently Microsoft has more surprises up Steve Ballmer’s voluminous sleeves for this big event in NYC on October 11th. Not only will they be premiering Windows Phone 7, announcing the AT&T WP7 lineup AND the T-Mobile WP7 lineup…but Neowin is reporting that they will be finally letting us know how they intend to answer Apple’s iPad. Neowin has it from a reliable source that even through the focus is on Windows Phone 7, Microsoft will take time to lay out their Tablet strategy. I know that when they canned the Courier project and the HP Slate went the way of all flesh, and then may have been resurrected, sort of…I began to think that Microsoft didn’t HAVE a Tablet strategy. Then when they started inviting iPad users to come to focus groups in Redmond to talk about what they liked about iPads, I KNEW Microsoft had no Tablet strategy to speak of.

iPad Dethroning the DVD Player, CNBC Still CNBC

A very interesting but somewhat ludicrous Fast Money column today shows that even though CNBC’s former Silicon Valley bureau chief (and infamous Apple fanboi and mouthpiece), Jim Goldman, left the station in July to work in PR, his spirit lives on, at least in terms of the station’s fawning worship of all things Apple. The core of the column is factual and speaks for itself. The iPad has out done the DVD player to become the most quickly accepted consumer electronics product in history, by a wide margin.

Ant Smasher Finds Greatness in Being Gross

Given the interactive, high-resolution touch screen of the iPhone and our primal instinct to smash things that can be smashed, it seems only natural that developers build games to capitalize on this repressed aggression. So, in a sense, a game like Ant Smasher is as inevitable as it is disgusting and, infinitely fun to play. The object of Ant Smasher could not be simpler: ants will walk across the screen, and it is your job to smash them with your finger. When you smash them, you will be greeted with a cartoonishly gross squashing noise and a little smear of orange or yellow goop where once there was an ant. The player starts with two “lives,” which are lost when an ant makes it all the way across the screen, or if the ant makes contact with a bee.
