WoWeekly: Cataclysm Raid Progression Changes

News about the changes in the raiding system came out last Monday and a lot of my guild mates started shouting, “The sky is falling!” causing a bit of uncertainty in our guild come Cataclysm. In a nutshell, Blizzard is planning to implement the following changes to the raid system when the expansion comes along: 10-Man and 25-Man raids will share the same lockout. 10-Man and 25-Man raids difficulty will be as close as possible to each other. 10-Man and 25-Man raids will drop the exact same loot, but 25-man will drop a higher quantity of items. Normal versus Heroic mode will be chosen on a per-boss basis in Cataclysm raids, the same way it works in Icecrown Citadel For the first few raid tiers, our plan is to provide multiple smaller raids.

GetUSB Dealz: 32GB Flash Drive Only $59

Wouldn’t it be nice to get 1GB of data storage for $1 on flash drives?  We are not there yet but getting close.  We are about $2 per GB for this 32GB Kingston DataTraveler. It doesn’t come with the lifetime warranty we typically see, only a 5 year one…but chances are you’ll lose it before then anyway. The c10 drive comes in four colors [Red, Yellow, Blue, Green] and has a full cap design to protect the entire stick.  No word on performance, but the typical flash drive has a write speed of 5.5MB/s and a read speed of 15 MB/s, again not official just our experience speaking here. Just 5 years ago I had a laptop with a 40GB hard drive, now we have flash drives just about as big and much less expensive.  This deal is for a limited time at buy.com and has a normal price of $90

More than third of network devices running known vulnerabilities

More than a third of all network devices attached to business nets are carrying at least one known security vulnerability, according to an annual report released by a global IT infrastructure company. Dimension Data, headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, in its Network Barometer Report 2010 revealed that an analysis of data gathered from 235 organizations around the world showed that 38 percent of networking devices had vulnerabilities that had been publicly disclosed but remained unaddressed by their businesses. The data was obtained electronically through technology lifecycle management assessments performed by Dimension Data. The assessment technology discovers installed assets on a network, identifies their lifecycle status and determines their maintenance coverage

Nokia N8 Sample Images

The Nokia N8 has caused a huge stir since its official announcement , generating a huge amount of internet chatter. Despite the pretensions of other manufacturers, Nokia still command a lot of interest and they still manage to produce handsets that capture the imagination. The N8 offers amazing imaging capabilities among its many features, with a 12.0 Megapixel camera, wide angle Carl Zeiss lens and the biggest sensor seen on a cameraphone. The rewriting of the Symbian OS offers Nokia the opportunity to overhaul the imaging processing capabilities of the N8, so images although 12.0 Megapixel in size are processed quickly, making time in between snaps shorter, plus auto focus speeds are much improved, whilst face detection and red eye reduction work much better

Jon Stewart rants about iPhone 4G mess

As much as I don’t want to keep this ridiculous story going forever… this is way too good not to share. Jon Stewart puts a voice to what all of us are really thinking about this silly  iPhone 4G leak investigation , and Apple’s gestapo-like security tactics. So brilliant, it’s poetry.
