Nokia Orion – Touch Screen Gaming Nokia Concept
It resembles a super slim Game Boy Advance, with a touch of E97 ‘clone ‘; this concept called Orion by the Recombu guys is a dedicated Nokia gaming touch screen phone which relies on dedicated gaming keys as opposed to purely touch screen. The E97 part is the qwerty keyboard which appears behind the touch screen, but it has its own screen for texting too.

DIY watch winder
Mechanical watch enthusiast Jake Bordens wrote in to share his latest project, the Arduino Watch Winder . Wanting to keep his watches on display, he needed a solution that could automatically wind them so their time would be accurate. The (expensive) commercial device that he had worked well when he only had one watch, however it couldn’t support winding two watches at different rates. Instead of purchasing a more complicated model, he decided to take matters into his own hands, and used an Arduino, Ardumoto motor driver shield, and RTC module to run the winding motors independently

BGR explains why 3G BlackBerry Bands are not Hardware dependent, rather Software.
Yesterday we reported about the possibility of a AWS-capable BlackBerry Pearl 9100 heading to networks like T-Mobile and Wind Mobile. At first it was thought to be a separate model of the Pearl 9100 designed only to work on these networks, but Boy Genius has decided to set everyone straight. Apparently all newer 3G BlackBerry smartphones such as the Bold 9700 and the upcoming Pearl 9100 are one single model, and not designed separately for North American or European markets. This means that the Bold 9700 that lets say AT&T or Rogers carries is the exact same as the one that T-Mobile or Wind Mobile carries

DAVE Wireless launches as Mobilicity, Network roll out scheduled for Spring in Toronto
Wind Mobile is no longer the new kid on the block in Canada as Data & Audio-Visual Enterprises, better known as DAVE Wireless , has just officially launched in the country as Mobilicity. They don’t have a line-up of mobile phones yet nor do they have a set of plans available for everyone’s perusal, but a quick visit to their website does assure us that they’ll be coming out with unlimited plans, and they won’t require subscribers to sign a contract

Vinyl Android figurines are the coolest things since sliced ice
Okay, look. I wasn’t going to post about these, because every bit of attention these things get will make it that much harder for me to acquire them before they sell out. But then this little nagging voice in my head (which sounds like a freakish cross between CrunchGear editor John Biggs and my mother) started saying “But, Greg! It’s your job! You have to post awesome things that people will be interested in!” Damn you, responsibilities. Damn you to hell . Artist Andrew Bell and his company Dyzplastic have teamed up with the folks at the Googleplex to create a limited run series of 12 differently themed figurines, all shaped like everyone’s favorite little Android

The Oberon Design Kindle DX Cover Review
Not long after Julie Strietelmeier and I reviewed their Kindle & Kindle2 covers , Oberon Design announced that they would be releasing a Kindle DX version . I found this news particularly welcome, because shortly after we completed the review I purchased the DX. Of course, moving to a larger Kindle meant that the case I loved would definitely no longer work, and for the longest time my DX went case-less, wearing only a Decal Girl skin . It was several months before I had the chance to review one of Oberon Design’s new DX covers, but when the opportunity came I was eager. … [ visit site to read more ] Related posts: The Oberon Design Kindle 2 Case Review Kindle Case – Another Option Review: JAVOedge Fiber Cases for the Amazon Kindle 2 Tags: Amazon Kindle Gear , Reviews Related posts Blue Plate Special: Words With Friends Free For iPhone/Touch (6) Review: Pat Metheny – Orchestrion (Jazz CD, 2010) (3) The Netbook Gamer: Neverwinter Nights (2002, RPG) (4) Etre Touchy Gloves Review (3) Review: Customized ZAGGskins for Mobile Devices (2)

"Art rocketry"
All card-carrying members of the NAR may want to look away now. The West Oakland Rocketry Club , based out of West Oakland CA, breaks pretty much every rule in the NAR Handbook. This is not rocketry for kids, or those who are particularly safety-concerned. Dubbing what they do “art rocketry,” the group (a lot of the same folks associated with the Raygun Gothic Rocketship and the Steampunk Treehouse projects) has built rockets out of everything from frozen turkeys to snow men; Slinkies to Chinese food containers.
