I’m Siiiiinging Playing The Drums In The Rain
The Rain Drum (why didn’t you call it the Drumbrella?!) is a conceptual umbrella designed by Dong Min Park to provide a little musical accompaniment to a walk through the rain . You see (or hear!), each section of the umbrella is supposed to make a different drum sound (snare, bass, tom-tom, crash cymbal and high-hat cymbal) when hit by droplets.

star wars voices on tomtom gps: you have arrived at your death star nation
If there’s one thing I really love about TomTom’s GPS navigators is the fact that you can download and replace the stock voices with different ones if you’re sick of the default. So you can imagine the big grin on my face when I found out that TomTom and Lucasfilm have paired up to bring us voices from Star Wars characters. TomTom plans on selling voice tracks from Darth Vader, C-3PO, Yoda and Han Solo, but they’ll will probably sell more Darth Vader tracks than anything, as is evidenced by this hilarious clip of Darth in the recording studio laying down some phat GPS tracks. Click to View Embedded Video Clip You can get your hands on the Darth Vader sounds now over at the TomTom site for $12.95(USD).

iPhone App uses two keypads for translation
This is an upcoming iPhone app that allows for translation, without switching back and forth between languages. As you can see, this app has two sets of keyboards that allow both users to type what they are saying on one side, and have it translated on the other. This creates a conversation that is two-sided

iPad WiFi + 3G Review
With over 1m iPads sold , it’s looking like Apple’s tablet gamble has paid off. Ironically the milestone was reached on the same day that the iPad WiFi + 3G debuted, the 3G-enabled version of the touchscreen slate that promises to set you loose from WiFi hotspots. After the cut, check out the SlashGear review, complete with MiFi benchmarking and some surprising battery findings. For the most part, the iPad WiFi + 3G (which from now on we’ll just refer to as the iPad 3G for the sake of brevity) is identical to its WiFi-only sibling. Both have the same capacitive touchscreen display, slimline aluminum body, iPhone OS 3.2 and either 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of flash storage.

In This Month’s : Rise Of The Robots
What happened to the utopian dream of a life of leisure for us humans, paid for with the toil of uncomplaining automatons? It could be that it’s just been delayed… In this month’s issue, T3 magazine looks at the present and future of robotics, hails the dawn of post-human intelligence and looks forward to the era when robots will fight our wars, heal our sick, take our jobs, steal our girlfriends and shoot us dead

Nanotech And The Death Of Reflecting Screens
I’m convinced: nanotechnology can and will do anything. In this case, it’s creating perfectly non-reflecting views on everything from mobile phone displays to eyeglasses, without requiring extra steps in the manufacturing process. And it’s the best moth-inspired idea since The Tick . (more…)

Hot new features uncovered in iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3
Here’s the thing… We just installed the newly released iPhone OS 4.0 beta 3 and found quite a few changes. There are a lot of minor things like how the background of the multitasking interface matches the background in the iPad’s browser, but all of the big new changes are awaiting your perusal after the jump. File Sharing Yes, you read that right. Apple is finally going to allow you to transfer files to and from your iPhone straight from your computer. It works like this: You plug your iPhone into iTunes, head on over to the Apps page and scroll down. From there you’ll be able to drag files to and from your iPhone and your computer

Star Wars Voices put on TomTom GPS devices
There must be some new fad for putting celebrity voices onto GPS devices, as Mio released their Knight Rider GPS a while ago. I heard that Homer Simpson was done in a similar manner. Tom Tom has made their contribution to this fad by putting Star Wars voices on their GPS devices

Oprah has her very own HTC Evo 4G
The Oprah Effect. All this woman needs to do is mention something, be it a book, product, or service of some sort, and you can bet your sweet ass it will get more attention than it ever could have without her. That’s the kind of publicity Sprint ( NYSE: S ) needs right now, and they just got a good dose of the “Oprah Effect” with their upcoming HTC EVO 4G Android phone. While she hasn’t explicitly endorsed the product, Oprah was spotted with an Evo 4G , and subtly gave it a name drop in a video

With Android’s fragmentation issues , there has been a lot of concern when it comes to updating a device, especially when it comes to wondering whether or not a particular Android phone will be upgraded to the next software version. Now that most Motorola ( NYSE: MOT ) Droid users are upgraded to Android 2.1 (Eclair), it has surpassed the numbers of Android 1.6 (Donut).

Nokia USB TO GO demo pic
Lucky Ahmed360from arabnokia (via finestfones ) has posted a shot showing Nokia N8′s USB TO GO in action. You’ll see it’s recognized and you can navigate the files all from the N8. This means you can plug in memory sticks (possibly larger powered external hard drives) and manage files with your N8. Great if you’re in need of some files from a friend’s memory stick but there’s no intermediate PC at hand for transfer.

Star Wars Voices Coming To TomTom GPS
Beginning this month, GPS giant TomTom will be releasing one Star Wars character a month whose voice will be available for $13 download to guide you to your destination. They kicked it off with Darth Vader , but next is C-3PO, followed by Yoda and Han Solo. You can hear some previews of the Vader voice HERE or hit the jump for a little video of what it was like having him in the recording studio. Vader actually sounds pretty good, and I have a man-crush on Han so he’s cool, but Yoda with all his backwards talk would get me lost as shit.
