Smartphones To Grow Potential Internet Ads Worth $50B

While everyone was watching the Moscone Center in San Francisco , Morgan Stanley analysts on Monday were telling the CM Summit in New York how mobile Web advertising is worth much of a potential $50 billion global market. That’s because the number of consumers accessing the mobile Web has seen “unprecedented early stage growth,” ramping much more quickly than PC Internet usage did, according to the analysts’ presentation . By 2010 smartphones will for the first time outsell all personal computers, both desktop and notebook, to the tune of almost 500 million units. Thus, more consumers will be reachable by the mobile Web than by traditional Internet. How much faster have consumers adopted mobile Internet usage?

T-Mobile myTouch 3G is going to get Android 2.2 Froyo—officially

Section: Communications , Cellphones , Cellular Providers , Smartphones , Mobile Assuming we can believe this latest leaked image, then it looks like the T-Mobile myTouch 3G is not going to be getting an upgrade to Android 2.1. And while that may sound like bad news, its actually good because the myTouch 3G is skipping Android 2.1 and stepping right in with Android 2.2 Froyo though as for when this will happen remains a mystery. The details at this point simply state that the update is “coming soon” and that it will be Android 2.2.

Reuters: Hulu plans to expand to iPad, Xbox 360, offer subscription service

We’ve already heard rumors of Hulu coming to the iPad and Xbox 360 , and rumors of a subscription service , and it looks like those might now all be coming together. According to Reuters , two sources and “another with knowledge of the matter” say that Hulu will be rolling out to “multiple devices” in the next month or two — only the iPad and Xbox 360 are mentioned by name — and that it will indeed be offering a subscription service. As we had heard, the subscription service would apparently only be for older episodes of TV shows and other content — you’d still be able to watch new episodes of shows for free — and it sounds like it will apply to Hulu as a whole, not just those aforementioned devices. Not many more details than that, unfortunately, but this does certainly seem to be taking on a feeling of inevitability. Resurrecting ISA hardware

[Alex] had an old FM radio tuner card come his way. It used an ISA connector , a standard that went the way of the dodo in the mid-nineties. With the challenge of implementing an ISA-bus to configure the card he set out on his mission. What he came up with is a working radio using the ISA card and driven by a PIC 16F877.

Motorola i296 Now Avaialble on Boost Mobile

Boost Mobile may like to get everyone’s attention for some device launches, but apparently they’re also perfectly complacent with slipping some onto their network under a hushed breath. The Motorola i296 has apparently been available for a couple of days now, and considering the specs and features, we can see why Boost wouldn’t necessarily go out of its way to announce its arrival. The i296 is a standard candy-bar styled phone

How-to: stay connected while traveling internationally

It’s a harsh reality that every avid traveler faces, and unless you’re fortunate enough to have been born in a generation where you’re not expected to check your inbox every half-hour, glance over Twitter updates every 7.23 minutes seconds and tell the world where you’re at this very moment via Foursquare, you’ve probably found yourself wondering how on Earth you’re going to remain connected once your swipe that passport and leave the comfy confines of a native network . Staying connected while traveling abroad is no easy task, and while the internet may feel ubiquitous to tech-savvy smartphone owners who remain planted within the borders of their home nation, the world wide web suddenly becomes a whole lot less easy to track down once you plop down on foreign soil. Looking to splurge on a little international travel this summer, but can’t figure out how you’re going to ( affordably ) upload those Twitpics and YouTube videos once you get there? Fret not, young jetsetter — we’ve got the keys to keeping you connected whilst overseas just beyond the break
