Motorola sues Huawei and several former employees for stealing wireless trade secrets
Man, if you thought the lawsuit action in the mobile space was crazy before, well, you ain’t seen nothing yet — Motorola just sued Huawei and over a dozen former employees for conspiring to steal its wireless trade secrets and other proprietary technology over a period of years starting in 2001. Yeah, it’s crazy. The lawsuit was originally filed in 2008 against four former Motorola engineers and a company called Lemko, all of whom Motorola accused of conspiring to stealing trade secrets related to wireless technology. After years of discovery in the case, it appears that Motorola realized the conspiracy went much deeper than it originally thought, leading the company to file a new complaint on July 16th, in which it named Huawei and nine additional former employees, who allegedly schemed to steal plans for a 3G base station called the SC300

Fraunhofer FIT touch-free gesture-control for multiple users (video)
It seems like everyone is cooking up their own touch-free gesture-based control technology , just like every blogger is destined to refer to it as ” Minority Report -like” or ” Minority Report -esque,” or “Tom Cruise-tastic!” Fraunhofer’s FIT, the newest such project, has recently appeared on the YouTubes, where we must say it looks pretty darn good. Not only does it not require special gloves or markers, this thing also works in real time and can support multiple users (and multiple fingers). The researchers hope to use this for working with complex simulation data and in education, although there are some kinks to be worked out: currently elements like the reflections caused by wristwatches and the orientation of the palm confuses the system. That said, the demo is pretty rad! See for yourself after the break. Star Wars Trench Run 2.0
We are no stranger to Star Wars games, like the Battle for Hoth . Now, Trench Run is receiving an update to 2.0. You can see work here in the video with “Brass Monkey” technology that allows you to use the iPhone as a controller for a big screen version of the game. In addition to this very cool feature, there are new levels and ships as well. I believe that the Trench Run game costs $5, and the 2.0 update will cost $0.99.

MSI rumored to have TriDef 3D laptops on deck, no active shutters required
We’ve heard this song and dance before, but DigiTimes has it that MSI is on pace to shove out a 3D laptop this September. Before you open that jaw and feign a yawn, you should know that the company is purportedly not following convention by integrating NVIDIA’s 3D Vision technology; instead, it’ll rely on Dynamic Digital Depth’s (DDD’s) TriDef 3D software for transferring 2D images to 3D. This means that users will be able to use cheap-o polarized glasses rather than the more expensive (and battery draining) active shutter variety. Somehow or another, the whole thing is supposed to launch at under a grand, so we’ll be poking around on the IFA show floor hoping that this one comes to fruition. Ultraviolet could signal the great convergence
I’ve heard that there may be a great convergence, where we would purchase a movie, and be able to watch it from any platform like our television, mobile phone, or PMP. This could happen if Ultraviolet has their way. Right now, Ultraviolet has several members like NBC Universal, for example. However, I don’t think that Apple and iTunes will play nice with it. Especially with the Hulu iPad service and Hulu Plus

iPhone Game Review: mTanks!
I am embarrassingly tardy with this review, but the reasoning is actually good news and worth mentioning. I had been playing mTanks on my iPod Touch but then the kids got out of school, we went on vacation, and I got busy getting my iPod Touch set up for my wife to use to read ebooks on vacation. Long story short, I forgot about the game completely. Before I finish the story, let’s see what this mTanks is all about: The Hype: 4 days ago NASA’s Spirit rover discovered a growing army of tanks beneath the surface of Mars.

AT&T Comments on Dropped Call Statistics
When Steve Jobs stood on stage last week and explained what was happening with the iPhone 4′s antenna (or, the whole mobile industry, if you really want to look at the presentation), he mentioned that the dropped call statistics from AT&T weren’t available at the time. Well, looks like that’s over and done with, because the month of May’s results have just been outed, and all because a website went out of their way to run their own poll. The site, Tech-Ex , asked its readers to confide their deepest, darkest AT&T secrets: how often do your calls get dropped? The results weren’t pretty: 4.5%, versus Verizon’s results, which stood at 1.5%, all in the month of March.

AT&T Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) review
The Galaxy S, when announced, had a full 4 hours to bask in the limelight of this year’s CTIA in Las Vegas before Sprint outshone it with the HTC EVO 4G, the country’s very first 4G phone of any kind. While the EVO’s specs were clearly more breathtaking, the Galaxy S still had nothing to cry about.

New 3D Gesture Control System Makes Minority Report Look Dated (video)
3D Gesture control represented in movies such as Minority Report starring Tom Cruise is always great to see and normally so far fetched that real-life technology takes years to match the movie. Well a new 3D gesture control system designed ad developed by Fraunhofer is looking to make the Minor Report system resemble an old Windows 3.1 computer. Check out the video of the system in action, after the jump

Creative Creates Wireless USB Speakers with Rocks
Creative is expanding its Sound Blaster Wireless ecosystem with this single-piece speaker made of granite-rock. The aptly-named Wireless Rock Speaker can reportedly withstand moderate weather conditions so it’s safe to assume that they are waterproof. We are a little surprised that Creative comes up with these as the company traditionally hasn’t made anything suitable for outdoor use for extended period of time. The speaker itself is powered by a removable Li-ion battery which lasts up to 6 hours of continuous playback and which can be recharged on a cradle. For those of you wondering, the Rock Speaker isn’t Bluetooth
