Bell rolls out Enhanced 911 (Phase Two) services in Canada
Bell is proud to announce the availability of Enhanced 911 (Phase Two) services for their subscribers as well as Solo Mobile clients with compatible handsets. The main difference between this new service and the old one is that responders can now accurately pinpoint the location of the caller via GPS and triangulation through the cellular towers within the vicinity. As the case is in most emergency situations, time is of great value, and with this new E911 (Phase Two) system in place, finding the location of the caller is now much easier and faster. Furthermore, thanks to this early roll by Bell, Canada is now in the record books as the first country in the world to implement this enhanced emergency call system on a nationwide basis. Of course, for this to work, you need to have a compatible handset.

product of an unholy matrimony: mac osx on a nokia n900
Toni Nikkanen just earned himself a bit of Internet fame. With Apple and Nokia trying to bury each other in lawsuits , Nikkanen must have been aware of the irony when he posted a video on YouTube showing his nerdy (albeit useless) achievement: an N900 running Apple’s OS X 10.3, aka Panther – with the help of a pre-release version of PearPC . On the other hand, I don’t think we can really say that the smartphone was “running” OSX. It was more like crawling: Click to View Embedded Video Clip I was half-expecting to see the phone explode or melt down.

final fantasy xiii xbox 360 version inferior to ps3 version? [rumor]
As we previously mentioned, a Final Fantasy XIII touring bus patrolled around some areas of the United States, allowing people to test both the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the upcoming Square Enix RPG. An article at Sankaku Complex says that the publicity stunt generated both good and bad publicity, as some people have allegedly commented that the Xbox 360 version is graphically inferior to the one on the PS3. A “real person” was quoted as saying: “I went to the Sunnyvale one today and got to play the 360 version.

We polled over 500 firms, and 60% felt that Facebook was the biggest danger: We shouldn’t forget, of course, that Facebook is by far the largest social network – and you’ll find more bad apples in the biggest orchard. The truth is that the security team at Facebook works hard to counter threats on their site – it’s just that policing 350 million users can’t be an easy job for anyone

The conspiracy of running shoes: apparently, running barefoot is better for you
I live near a plaza with lots of restaurants. It’s basically two long strips of coffee shops, boutique stores and restaurants. It’s a lovely strip. The fact that the two rows are parallel makes for a great wind funnel allowing me to sit outside while I listen to my audiobooks and drink coffee. Then the silence is broken.
