Nokia C7 gets FCC approval
Oooh look what the guys from engadgetmobile just found out. What you’re seeing here is the leaked image of the C7 front (top) compared to the label diagram of a model code RM-718 that just got FCC approval, featuring quadband EDGE, HSPA 850 / AWS / 1900 / 2100, Bluetooth, and WiFi — should end up slotting behind the N8 while still carrying over the 640 x 360 display and Symbian^3, so it should be a good lower-cost alternative. That begs the question where is the N8 or has it already been approved secretly……… Nokia World cant come quick enough I’d say…… via e ngadgetmobile

In the update, some new Vodafone 360 apps were installed, as well as a new Vodafone branded start-up screen, plus some links were added to the browsers bookmark menu. Windows Phone 7 Handset for Every Microsoft Employee
Apparently Microsoft is set on giving a Windows Phone 7 handset to their entire 90,000+ workforce around the globe according to a recent Twitter retweet of a Microsoft employee, which would no doubt give Windows Phone 7 a good boost at the start. According to Chris Ziegler of Engadget , the retweet of the Windows Phone 7 handout was tweeted by Microsoft guru, @maryjofoley , with the retweet saying…” 90K down… just under 30 million to go: RT @simchabe: Woot.

However after deeper investigation Motorola has decided to file the new lawsuit which was filed on the 16th of July and names 9 more ex-employees along with Huawei and alleges they planed to steal plans for Motorola’s SC300, a 3G base station.

LG Wine II Cell Phone Review–A Lesser Vintage
Sometimes the naming conventions on phones unnerve me. And today’s review target, the LG Wine II, is definitely one of those. Seriously, who names a phone “Wine”? What’s next, the Samsung Jack and Coke? Wait…they already did the Samsung Jack …oh man, it’s really only a matter of time until we get the Sony Ericsson Gin and Tonic! Seriously, though–names aside, the phone is more than the sum of its name, so how does it operate? The answer, sadly, is not that great. In fact, the LG Wine II proves to be a vintage best left in the bottle. The LG Wine II is a folder-style phone with an FM radio, voice recorder, Bluetooth connectivity, a phone book capable of storing ninety-nine name and number records, mobile web, text messaging, a two megapixel camera, alarm clock, calendar, calculator, hearing aid compatibility, and a battery that offers three hours and ten minutes of talk time on a single charge. You can see there’s not much to this at all. It’s an extremely simple, extremely basic phone that doesn’t bring a whole lot of power to the table. The battery power is low, the camera’s resolution is low, and the total number of features isn’t much better. However, the phone is pretty easy to operate and the end result of a lack of features is a very simple phone. If you want simple, then the LG Wine II will definitely go down smooth. However, those looking for a complex phone that serves lots of functions, then this rotgut of a phone will never satisfy. The Good Very simple to operate The Bad Low end camera Low end battery Relatively low number of features Score 4 / 10 Related Posts LG UX280 Wine Cell Phone Review–Terrific Piece It’s not every day I get to say a lot of really nice things about a cell phone. OtterBox Commuter Case for iPad: Sleek & Slender But Still Tough
If you’re familiar with OtterBox you know that their flagship case, the Defender, provides an paralleled level of protection for whatever device you choose to place inside it. However, that amount of protection doesn’t come without a price. The Defender is big, some might even call it bulky. It’s for this reason that OtterBox first offered the Commuter Series Case for the iPhone 3Gs and they’ve now released it for the iPad. The Commuter Series is sort of like the Defender’s little brother

Free iPhone 4 Bumper Cases Costs Apple $175 Million
Apple had to address the voices of discontentment over the iPhone 4 death grip problem and did so last week by announcing free iPhone 4 bumper cases for all users. The cost for this solution was $175 million US which sounds like quite a hit on the pocketbook until you look at the alternative. Initially, when the iPhone antenna problem arose, one analyst had predicted that a full hardware recall was in order and that this recall would set the company back $1.5 billion. Obviously, the $175 million is still a cost to the company, but is certainly a more pleasant number the the $1.5 billion that was being tossed around earlier. For a full report of Apple earnings, be sure to check out their quarterly results

iPhone Game Review: mTanks!
I am embarrassingly tardy with this review, but the reasoning is actually good news and worth mentioning. I had been playing mTanks on my iPod Touch but then the kids got out of school, we went on vacation, and I got busy getting my iPod Touch set up for my wife to use to read ebooks on vacation. Long story short, I forgot about the game completely. Before I finish the story, let’s see what this mTanks is all about: The Hype: 4 days ago NASA’s Spirit rover discovered a growing army of tanks beneath the surface of Mars.

Pulse News Mini 1.0.2 for iPhone: Retina Display update, speed increase, Bump sharing support
Pulse ($2.99 – review ) just got a lot sexier for iPhone 4 users, and faster for everyone. I haven’t had a chance to test a big refresh yet (this update came out last night — official post here ), but I have noted a significant increase in scrolling speed, especially while the app is refreshing. However, I’d argue that it’s an undocumented change that has made the biggest difference in v1.0.2.

Qt Animation Framework – Creating animations and transitions
If you are sick and tired of the state of the Ovi store and want to do something about it then start programming. I downloaded the Nokia Qt SDK today onto my MAC today for the intention of learning to code for Nokia phones and with such great tools like the Qt SDK it’s easer than ever. BTW with “analysts” and tech sites being obsessed with the iCandy form Apple it is important for Developers to add animations for Apps for Nokia devices Also notice he is in a train sort of

JAVOedge Axis Case for iPad: Don’t Judge a Book By Its Cover
JAVOedge has been churning out accessories for our “i” devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod) for quite some time. I’ve been happy with many of them but their recently released “Axis” case for the iPad might be one of the most innovative cases I’ve had the opportunity to use. The Axis case looks like a traditional book style iPad case, but don’t judge a book by its cover. The Axis allows you to prop up your iPad in both the vertical and horizontal positions, a feature I’ve not yet seen on any other iPad case.

AT&T Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) review
The Galaxy S, when announced, had a full 4 hours to bask in the limelight of this year’s CTIA in Las Vegas before Sprint outshone it with the HTC EVO 4G, the country’s very first 4G phone of any kind. While the EVO’s specs were clearly more breathtaking, the Galaxy S still had nothing to cry about.

STM Jacket for iPad Review
STM Bags is an Australian company, founded in 1998, that is dedicated to making laptop bags that “don’t look like a laptop bag.” Lately, they’ve expanded their offerings to include some bags designed for the Apple iPad. Just like their laptop bags, the iPad offerings are sturdy-looking bags that are at home on a college campus or in the business world. STM were nice enough to send three iPad bags to The Gadgeteer for review. I’ll cover the Scout and the Micro Extra Small iPad Shoulder Bag in separate reviews. I’ll be discussing the Jacket for iPad in this review.
