Nokia N8 vs iPhone 4 – The smartphone camera shootout

Nokia is in a tough spot with its Nokia N8 Symbian^3 superphone . The N8 is, without a doubt, the best Symbian handset ever made by the Finns, and it’s easily one of the best (if not the best ) cameraphones in the world – a feat not easily accomplished in the crowded smartphone/cameraphone market. But, if you were to put the N8′s Symbian^3 UI up against the likes of iPhone and Android, it becomes clear that the new Nokia flagship isn’t quite up to speed with other modern smartphone operating systems

Nokia N8 review – best camera phone ever

Nokia’s first Symbian^3 smartphone, the N8, is finally here. It brings a new 12 megapixel, HD capable camera to the party, as well as strong Ovi Maps support and a simply fantastic industrial design. It even works on both AT&T and T-Mobile USA. It’s the best Symbian touchscreen device to date, no doubt

Ant Smasher Finds Greatness in Being Gross

Given the interactive, high-resolution touch screen of the iPhone and our primal instinct to smash things that can be smashed, it seems only natural that developers build games to capitalize on this repressed aggression. So, in a sense, a game like Ant Smasher is as inevitable as it is disgusting and, infinitely fun to play. The object of Ant Smasher could not be simpler: ants will walk across the screen, and it is your job to smash them with your finger. When you smash them, you will be greeted with a cartoonishly gross squashing noise and a little smear of orange or yellow goop where once there was an ant. The player starts with two “lives,” which are lost when an ant makes it all the way across the screen, or if the ant makes contact with a bee.

Sometimes I come across an app that really stands out from the pack. Most of the time I’ll see an app and think that it’s either useful or not useful. Rare is the time that come across one and marvel at the novelty of the concept. An app that overhauls your BlackBerry calendar ? Excellent and useful

Autumn’s coming up and it’s for all of us to start updating our wardrobe with some new clothes for the upcoming winter. Browsing around all the latest trends for the upcoming season and there are some really good style tips for all the women out there! The big fashion statement for this season is the long coat trench coat or duffel coat! Last winter saw the military jacket fashion statement back in and the response saw major retailers add women’s military jackets to their Autumn Winter lines. This fashion trend started when a lot for celebrities like Rihanna started wearing military jackets as a tribute to Michael Jackson and setup a huge following as everybody flocked to buy a military jacket. As with all fads and fashions, Military jackets are still in this season and a few more lines have been added as everybody is going for the long formal dressy trench coat/duffel coat look. Boot cut jeans are also going to be big this season, major campaigns are including the boot cut look in their main lines; it is interesting to consider who inspired that look

Moto Mania: Ride, Crash and Relax for the Casual Gamer

Moto Mania is a ragdoll physics-based dirtbike game for the iPhone and iPod Touch, and it follows in the footsteps of some of the classic side-scrolling dirtbike stunt games of the past, like Excite Bike for the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Moto Mania has an advantage over the older games, however: thanks to the built-in accelerometer of these iDevices, it’s possible to control the tilt of the bike by simply tilting the device to the left or right. This makes game play incredibly intuitive

Getting your app to be discovered amongst a galaxy of options out there in the mobile ‘appspace’ is rapidly becoming the key to success or failure for new services (as well as for existing brands). HP Slate – Fiction or Non Fiction?

We’ve seen some talk about the HP Slate coming back.  It was canned several months ago, but just recently we’ve started to hear about reviews and product spotted out in the wild.  Most recently is a blog post from Engadget [source for these images]: It’s well known the Slate was canceled back in March and I find it very unlikely the company would about-face yet again to re-launch the tablet PC. My theory is the guy posting video on the web, is a guy who got his hands on a prototype unit while it was in development.  The HP Slate most likely had hundreds if not thousands of prototypes made and clearly some of them have leaked into the public sector. The HP Slate shown in the video on Engadget’s site does show so interesting tips.  For example the processing time to switch between landscape and portrait.  We also like the SD and USB connectivity along with nice dock station for the tablet PC.  In our opinion, these to features alone, set it apart from the iPad product. Of course, we’ll leave it up to you to decide.

Texts from Last Night App Delights in Debauchery, and Lets Users Vote

If you’re of a certain age—read: you’re a college student—you likely already know all about Texts From Last Night , or TFLN for short. TFLN is a Webby Award-winning website , a popular Facebook group , a book, a soon-to-be TV series on the Fox network, and, now, an iPhone app . The basics of the iPhone app are just like those of the full-featured website: Texts From Last Night is a stream of user-submitted text messages from, you guessed it, last night. Users may submit their own text message to the stream, and the texts are up-voted or down-voted by other users, Reddit style. The most popular part of the app/website is probably the “Top Nights” feature, which is a collection of the most up-voted texts, organized by day, week, month, or all time.

Garmin Buys Power Meter Company Metrigear – More Biking Capabilities

I tweeted about this last week ( Follow us on Twitter) but thought I would add the news here; Garmin is adding to its bicycling mecca of capabilities in buying power meter upstart MetriGear , who is readying the Vector power meter for a pending market launch. The ANT+ based power meter will add to the cadence and heart rate monitor sensors that report back to the Edge family of bike computers. The Vector solution is a pedal based product that houses the sensor and an externally mounted battery pack, allowing it to go about 20 hours between charges, and can easily be moved from bike to bike according to their website. The power meters are currently designed for road bikes and will provide a steady stream of power output +/- 1.5% along your ride. Of course, Garmin Connect will be handling the data set and analysis of your trips.

Email Moderation Feature

Last year Exchange Server came out which featured several new capabilities. Many of these capabilities helped ease the management actions for email administrators. And in a blog written by Clint Boessen, about one of those new features called, “Email Moderation”, Clint discussed the benefits of having a moderator involved in the email review process . Email Moderation allows for a pre-review of email messages so that they may get forwarded with enough information for a full review to be complete.
