An American Kid’s thoughts on the Nokia N8. Flicking through YouTube I came across what was supposedly a “review” of the N8 by this kid, “ ObviouslyAwsome “ . Well first it’s not a review, more a reel of thoughts on the N8 itself.
Last week we saw that Nokia Panorama was available on the Ovi Store for the Nokia N8 . Below is a video demo shot by nuuneoi from showing “Nokia Panorama” in action. Apps like Morpho Panorama use “sweep” – possibly the easiest method where you just sweep from left to right with no pausing or thought as to whether your picture is aligned – much like taking a video. Samples this way though may suffer from different light exposures, and quality may suffer

One my downfalls (so my wife tells me!) is that I constantly put things down, then can’t remember where I’ve put them! Take my car keys as a prime example. I’ll come in from work, put my keys down in my normal place (on the side of the unit in the kitchen), but when I go to find them the next morning, lo and behold, they’re missing! They always seem to turn up in places where I know I wouldn’t put them, so it’s either my mind playing tricks on me, or indeed I do move them and then just forget where! Well, now I have a perfect solution for the problem – the Loc8tor Lite . In a nutshell, with a press of a button the Loc8tor will guide you to your lost keys, mobile phone, cat/dog, radio-control aeroplane, tent… in fact, anything that you can attach one of the remote tags to! How does it work? Well, I’ll explain in more detail! … [ visit site to read more ] Filed in categories: Gear , Geek Toys , Home Tech , Reviews Tagged: Loc8tor Loc8tor Lite – Mobile Phone & Key Finder Review originally appeared on The Gadgeteer on October 9, 2010 at 2:00 pm.

Videos: PhoneArena’s 2 Part review of the Nokia N8 – a good phone? Of course it is, we’d even go so far to say it’s a GR8 phone
PhoneArena reviews the N8 wondering if it lives up to all the hype. Design wise, N8 feels extremely solid – good weighting behind it. Flat top and bottom edge – we were dubious at first but it really helps when picking up the handset
Absolute beauties While I was strolling though the city centre I spotted that Vodafone had N8 dummies with a coming soon label next to them in store and had to have a quick look and DAMM the devices feel AMAZING and they are only DUMMIES !!!! I wonder how the real devices must feel, I cannot wait to get my hands on a real device still deciding whether to sell the trusty E72 and go for this, after the bad news with the N9 possibly not coming this year my mind has changed a bit and I am again considering this device and the camera decision, decisions….. Since 9/11 there has been increased popularity in military-inspired products. Known as ‘tactical’ gear (or ‘tacticool’ by some), many of these items go beyond merely inspiration and are in fact quite well designed and built and are functional and rugged. Civilian Lab , a company in this tactical gear this category, has a growing portfolio that includes the Hazard 4 brand of products. I had the opportunity to review the Hazard 4 Tonto mini messenger bag, and to put Hazard 4′s motto “progressive tactical” to the test. Let’s see how it fared! … [ visit site to read more ] Filed in categories: Gear , Reviews Tagged: Bag , gear bag Hazard 4 Tonto Mini Messenger Bag Review originally appeared on The Gadgeteer on October 8, 2010 at 12:00 pm.
Secret Infinity Chaos War? We’ve been here before.
This week I happened to read the reviews before the comics themselves, especially the Twitter based #ramarev reviews, where I happened upon this following comment: – “The set up of Chaos War reads just like the start of Crisis on Infinite Earths from the 80s! Am I right? #RamaRev “ Well, I had been looking forward to the Chaos War since I first heard of it. Of course I did, I love these huge team-ups and it’s about time that one of these cosmic level threats actually hit Earth. With an introduction like that as provided by @cavalock, I was even more excited. I mean, an intro like the Perez/Wolfman classic
Test your vocabulary with Scrabble-like game WordRival
It seems as though we’re nearing a revolution in mobile gaming. With the preponderance of app stores, we’re seeing more and more games available to people. We’re also seeing more games with remote multiplayer functions, so you can play friends, or even a random stranger, over your mobile connection. We’re also seeing more tie-ins with social services. All of this is why I think that games like WordRival will get even better in the near future
Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-Portable Drive and eSATA Upgrade Cable Review
My laptop has a lot of very important things on it. I have documents that I created or scanned in. I have tons of music that I bought from iTunes or invested hours ripping from CDs. I have hundreds of ebooks. We switched to digital cameras years ago, so most of the pictures I have of my daughter and all the pictures I have of the last few years of my parents’ lives are digital. Backups are VERY important to me. I currently have a Seagate external drive that I use for backup. That disk works well except for its size. It’s a big disk with an external power source, and it’s too big to fit on the tiny table I use for my laptop. I keep the backup drive on my sofa’s end table, and I’ve accidentally pulled it to the floor on more than one occasion while moving my laptop desk around. I’ve been lucky so far that the disk hasn’t been damaged, but I’m afraid my luck won’t hold out forever. I was thrilled when Julie asked me to review a 500GB Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable USB 2.0 external disk. I already liked Seagate drives, and I knew that the small form factor of this disk would work better with my cramped workspace.
Apple completely redesigned the iPod nano for the 2010 holiday season, eliminating the click wheel altogether, opting instead for a touchscreen device that is almost as small as the iPod shuffle. We got our hands on the multi-touch orange iPod nano and give you a look at it in this episode.
Booq Boa is a snug fit on a bare iPad The iPad really wants to travel with you. More than any other computer I have ever used, this device just begs to be taken on trips out of the house. With its huge glass screen, however, what to carry it in becomes a question of real importance very soon after acquiring one.
Brick-Breaking Competition Awaits with Splash Duel HD
Splash Duel HD is like a hybrid of Breakout and air hockey. In many ways it combines the best of both games and creates a very addicting experience. Just like Breakout you must bounce balls off of bricks with a paddle. Splash Duel HD is set in an underwater world, so expect a coral background and the steady sound of the deep as background noise.
BlackBerry News From The Wire for the Week of 10/4/2010
It appears as tough we’re down to one final BlackBerry launch for 2010. For a while we thought we were getting two new devices before year’s end, the Style 9670 and the Storm 9570. It looks like we’ll only get one of them. While we heard last week that Verizon was canceling the 9670, we held out hope that another carrier would pick it up. Alas, it appears that isn’t in the cards.
Review: Note To Self; MiniNotes v1.1.1 For BlackBerry By BB4 Software
I know that BlackBerry has a Notes app that comes with the OS, but MiniNotes is the app that allows you to customize your notes your way. In fact, I have opted to use the MiniNotes in place of the native Notes app. I’ll share with you what MiniNotes is and why I prefer it. MiniNotes is a small application.
Do you have problems with the headphone jack on your BlackBerry?
It’s the industry standard size. My BlackBerry Tour, along with every other recent BlackbBerry model, has a 3.5-inch headphone jack. It’s the same as the ones you’ll find on basically all gadgets that have a headphone input. Yet something is odd with my Tour’s. Actually, it’s two things that are odd
Goodness, gracious, great balls of fire! Keep in Play by Garuda Force Corporation is an interesting game that pits the addictive nature of a simple repeat task against challenging parameters. As part of a charming story line about a kingdom plagued by flaming meteors, Keep in Play requires players to keep one or more “meteors” on the screen for 30 seconds by drawing lines to contain them
