Pic: Nokia MeeGo Phone – Ultimate Convergence Device?
jedibeeftrix shares an interesting post, asking whether Nokia and MeeGo tablet phone could be the ultimate convergence device. In the post is an interesting render of what MeeGo phone could look like (updated with better render) A wonderful wish list of core specifications include: At least 4″, WVGA (the standard of Nokia’s first 3 Maemo tablets) AMOLED screens Dual Core ARM Cortex A9 (Nokia already confirmed first MeeGo phone from Nokia will be on ARM architecture) No hardware keyboard, rely on good capacitive multitouch (so that interface is truly all built for touch) Must be slim so a 4″ heft is more acceptable. jedibeeftrix also wants Nokia to open up Ovi Store to other manufacturers, like Intel is with AppUp. I totally agree with that and the specs wishlist. I’d also like to have some decent N8 like imaging (w/ xenon!) – hopefully that won’t push the thickness too much
Loopbag Transit Mini really is the ultimate carry all for your mobile life. Loopbag Transit Mini has a dedicated compartment to fit the iPad or any laptop up to 12.1 inches. This laptop sleeve is made of double density EPE + EPA foam
Video: Closer look at MeeGo App Store – Intel’s AppUp on MeeGo Tablet.
Great choice of app to advertise there. Hope this is not some bad omen. To collate all the MeeGo apps, there’s gonna be of course an App Store. This seems to be coming in the flavour of Intel’s AppUp store. MeeGo manufacturers like Asus are said to be putting their own app store but this will be compatible with Intel’s AppUp.
The seemingly unstoppable march of Android devices continues, with yet another Android device being announced, this time we have the Motorola FlipOut with MotoBlur . It’s one of the strengths of the Android OS, that it is not tied to any one particular manufacturer. Whereas Apple have their iPhone OS, and Symbian is found more often than not on Nokia devices, Android has products from Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, Motorola , and lesser known names such as Huawei, Dell, Acer and Asus. The wide variety of manufacturers also brings a lot of creative thinking to these products, and whilst the traditional PDA look is the most common, there are a few devices that offer something a little different in the style department, and the Motorola FlipOut certainly comes under that heading. The shape of the FlipOut is square, with the phone measuring 67mm up and 67mm across
Is this the Modu T-Phone? (update: yes!) Modu reminds us a bit of Neonode back in the day — their products are virtually impossible to find and you don’t hear about them terribly often, but when you do , it’s almost always interesting news. We’d heard last year that the company would be following its first model with a touch-centric device , and TheGadgetSpot seems to have the straight dope on the new unit, said to be called ‘T-Phone’ with a full touchscreen and a 3G radio
Motorola i1 hitting Boost Mobile June 20th Just like we said last night , June 20th will see the U.S. retail release of the Motorola i1 . It will be available from Boost Mobile retailers as well as from both Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile

GSM HTC Hero Finally Starts to get Android 2.1 The HTC Hero, which was initially launched in Europe back in 2009, was the flagship device to showcase Android 1.5. For all intents and purposes, it was the next best thing to sliced bread at the time, and it was only made better by HTC’s customized Sense User Interface (UI).
LG Sentio, dLite, and GS170 Bring LG to T-Mobile for the First Time
LG Sentio, dLite, and GS170 Bring LG to T-Mobile for the First Time T-Mobile’s no slouch when it comes to handsets. They’ve managed to pick up quite a few high-profile devices over the years (HTC G1, HTC HD2, Google’s Nexus One (also manufactured by HTC)), but there’s been one hardware manufacturer out there that’s been notoriously absent from T-Mobile’s line-up. LG. But, as today marks an official announcement from both companies, it’s looking like LG is hitting the magenta carrier with a bang, as they’re planning to offer three new handsets come this Summer
HTML5 and Apple Web Standards Apple just launched a page where people can test and play with HTML to see the difference form themselves. I’m guessing it was in response to the drama around their exclusion of Flash. “Every new Apple mobile device and every new Mac — along with the latest version of Apple’s Safari web browser — supports web standards including HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
We kick off today’s proceedings with a little rant. Perhaps you’re familiar with it. I wrote about AT&T’s new data plans the other day, and have since reflected on my views. They’re actually strengthened, and I think they come through better vocally than they do textually. Plus, plenty on the newer devices.
Why the Nokia N8 WON’T be like the Nokia N97. Nokia N8 vs Nokia N97.
Click X now or prepare for a mighty wall of text. For crimes against the smartphone and flagship name. This time last year, we were all in anticipation of Nokia’s hottest flagship – the Nokia N97.

For many BlackBerry users, the new AT&T tiered data plans will save money. If you use your device entirely for email and don’t surf the web much, for example, you could cut your data costs in half. Still, as I mentioned yesterday, it might not be all good for you . Reuters blogger Felix Salmon expressed a similar sentiment , noting that his data usage fluctuates by the month, often but not always exceeding 200MB
You don’t need to be an experienced mobile industry analyst to see that there is a huge shift in the power base happening right now. The traditional leading handset manufacturers are being challenged by new names within mobile manufacturing, names that are new to some, and names that are established within the general electronics industry, such as Huawei, Dell, Acer and Asus
If you don’t have enough room in your flat or student pad for a TV, Freeview PVR, monitor and PC, this all in one computer from Advent is a handy and affordable solution. Its innards might not be powerful enough for epic gaming, but its nifty touch interface and usable Windows Media Centre software make it very versatile
Nokia are working hard to build up some hype and interest in their forthcoming N8 device, and are using a variety of methods to get across the different ways features on the phones can be used. It’s a good idea, talking about features is one thing but seeing them in use really puts things into perspective. The topic of this video clip is a Foosball match, and it needs to be seen to be believed. I didn’t know some of the skills on show here were even possible on a table football, but apparently they are all genuine

Sony hasn’t endeared itself to us in recent years with expensive TVs that weren’t up to its former high standards, but the NX703 is part of a new wave of Bravias with a smart ‘Monolith’ design, Freeview HD and some very high-end Internet-connected features. Has Sony finally justified the price tag?
