PhoneArena reviews the Nokia C6. The C series portfolio represents the core line of Nokia phones. Fring and videocalling on the N8

The guys at Fring have managed to get their hands on 1 (or more!) pre-production N8 devices for testing of their new app for the N8. The video below demonstrates a videocall done over 3G using the N8. Not sure whether this is done via Skype,MSN or Fring-to-Fring but it showcases just one of the many features that the N8 has at its disposal. Give it a look! the Delhi event for the Nokia N8, CJ from www.zomgitscj.com and Vaibhav Sharma from www.thehandheldblog.com managed to scoop a bit of hands-on time with the N8. It was their use and impressions based on having little to no prior experience with the device so the views are as raw as they get. Regardless it should give a decent insight into the speed and responsiveness of the phone & UI on the N8. They managed to record around 25 minutes of time with the device and part 1 is available below. Part 2 should be up later so keep a look out for an update to this post.

I visit the Ovi App store at least once a day ( I know call me sad) but I have noticed that in the last few months I have noticed here has been an increase in the number of useful apps on the Ovi store and I am happy about that, and that should increase with Qt and the powerful N8 coming. via zomgitscj.com

I had a weird dream or wish a couple of weeks ago that if Nokia where to buy another company then it would have to be my other favourite company Nintendo. Well today Pocket gamer are reporting that Nokia and Nintendo DID work on a Nokia Nintendo phone back when Nokia where developing the N-Gage. The development of the phone where done at Nintendo’s Japanese HQ and actual concept devices where made and pitched to the board and ultimately rejected

Nokia 5250 pictured clearly

Some clear pictures of a rumoured Nokia 5230 have appeared, first time I have actually heard of this phone it is probably based on Symbian 1 but looks decent a bit like the Sony ericsson X8 the slightly smaller version to the X10. BTW I thought Nokia had stopped using this naming convention thanks to Keith for the heads up via ubergizmo.com

The good folks at TheHandheldblog got a preview of the N8 in its exact retail packaging and did an unboxing for our pleasure. As you can see the box is TINY !!! which is really nice in my opinion and I really like that Nokia are also going for the their traditional blue colouring for their packaging. The contents of the box for different markets will be different like a stylus for the Asian market. I am seriously considering buying an N8 now I have flip flopped the idea between then when it was announced and now and pretty much ruled it out a while ago but after using other platforms for extensive periods I don’t see a huge difference between them and Symbian now and I am thinking of selling my Nokia E72 to part fund it we will wait and see I guess……..

Open screen project

This is a very cool project where YOU guys can get money to turn an app idea into a reality and get it distributed using the Ovi App store An app called Twittle funded by the Open Screen Project very impressive indeed It seems like Nokia are really stepping up their game with the App front encouraging developers to get on board makes sense as developers for the iOS and Android devices will not be able to make money there for ever they will have to come over and develop for Nokia too to make a good living. I am guessing there will also be a large number of apps being launched around the time the N8 launches. Now I need to get my lazy behind to learn Qt already, I have the SDK donwloaded now need some motivation via openscreenproject.org
