Verizon to Offer Flash 10.1 Support Only in Second Droid Update

Found under: Verizon , Droid , Flash , Froyo , , The Motorola Droid although discontinued has received that much expected Android 2.2 Froyo update but not everything was included in it. While the Droid 2 that was made official a few days ago is coming with Froyo and Flash on board the Droid is still waiting for Adobes Flash 10.1 Player.According to Verizon a second round of updates will take place in the following days and Motorola Droid owners will be given access to Flash.

Android 2.1 Update Gets Leaked For Dell Streak in UK

Google’s Android open source operating system is a great one but due to its frequency of updates and the infrequent rate at which hardware manufacturers push these updates out, some users have been left in the dust. The Dell Streak is a prime example of this segmentation as although it is a brand new device, Dell is still putting the finishing touches on the updated versions which means it will ship with Android 1.6 in tow. Fortunately, some hackers over in the UK found this delay in updates to be inappropriate and have taken the liberty to themselves update the device to Android 2.1 also known as Eclair. According to those involved, all you need to do is copy the Android 2.1 .pkg file onto your device’s SD card and rename it ‘Update.pkg’. Once you’re done with that you just need to boot the Dell Streak into recovery mode and choose to recover from the Update.pkg file.

RIM Outlines 4 Main Principles For “Lawful” Access To Data For Carriers

In an update to RIM’s initial response to how the company would handle requests from governments to make encrypted data available to carriers, the BlackBerry maker says that “although it cannot disclose confidential regulatory discussions that take place with any government, RIM assures its customers that it genuinely tries to be as cooperative as possible with governments in the spirit of supporting legal and national security requirements, while also preserving the lawful needs of citizens and corporations.” Additionally RIM has outlined 4 main principles that any carrier requesting “lawful” access to data be limited by: The carriers’ capabilities be limited to the strict context of lawful access and national security requirements as governed by the country’s judicial oversight and rules of law. The carriers’ capabilities must be technology and vendor neutral, allowing no greater access to BlackBerry consumer services than the carriers and regulators already impose on RIM’s competitors and other similar communications technology companies.

2Do 2.0 ($7.99, currently $3.99) is the story of a swan that turned into an even prettier and more poweful mecha-swan. I’ve always found Guided Ways’ task manager impressive ( Patrick reviewed version 1.0) , but this new version completely blows all of 1.x out of the water. TrueCaller shows you who the caller ( for the ones you don´t have the number stored in your phonebook ) before you answers and works in more than 25 countries! According to the developer it also recognizes incoming calls from abroad! They have a client for all major mobile OS and have packed the app with some great features. In this new version it can even pull up the last facebook update from the contact who is calling you.
