EU Enlargement and Nearshoring
With the accession of new Member states in 2004 and 2007 the European Union grew to 27 countries. The trend of nearshore software development outsourcing to Central Europe that started in mid 1990s, became much stronger. Initially it started as outsourcing smaller projects by small and mid-size companies. Shortly, the region has arrested the attention of the global IT players like Capgemini and EPAM Systems , therefore enhancing the scope of the projects outsourced, and enabling the region to compete with well-established Indian and Chinese IT providers

Motorola Inc has reached a deal with Microsoft Corp that will put Bing search and mapping services on its phones that use Google’s Android operating system. Motorola said the partnership with Microsoft means that a Bing bookmark and search widget will be loaded on cell phones, starting in the coming weeks with phones in China. The move follows shortly after Motorola struck a similar deal to let consumers in China use Baidu Inc, among others, as the default Web search instead of Google on Android based phones.

RIM, iPhone & Android market share up
Gartner has released a comprehensive report on the list of smartphone platforms sale of mobile phones worldwide. In its reports, gartner has enlisted the iPhone at number three, right behind Nokia’s Symbian OS and the RIM software used in Blackberry devices. More importantly, the report reveals that Apple’s unit share has more than doubled in the last year, from 11.4 million units in 2008 to more than 24 million in 2009. Gartner claims iPhone sales made up 14 percent of the smartphone market last year to WinMo’s 9 percent, but that still puts Apple behind the other two leaders in the market: BlackBerry manufacturer RIM in third place with 20 percent, Finnish firm Nokia still ahead with a mighty 47 percent

CrystalHost Reviews Vision Helpdesk
Recently we signed up with Vision Helpdesk and moved from the internal WHMCS helpdesk, previously Kayako, which I have no problems with only that it no longer serves our needs. We offered managed support to some of our resellers recently with a mixed response but the general feel was sometimes they were unable to help with support requests and had to submit us a support ticket making them feel like the middle man sometimes. So we looked around and found Vision Helpdesk offer Satellite desks

the value of living & working abroad
It occurred to me after reading my post of a week ago on international internships that I must have been in a cranky mood, because it sounded like I didn’t endorse international internships, which I wholeheartedly do.
