Following the launch of the e-commerce program in the U.S., we are excited to announce that the European e-commerce program is planned to go live in March 2010. The e-commerce program has been tremendously successful in the U.S., with about 600 new paid apps available in just 2 months, and the extension to Europe gives developers a compelling new opportunity to distribute and monetize their apps. In Europe, Palm Pre is currently available in the UK, Ireland, Spain and Germany, providing excellent opportunities for developers to do business in multiple large markets. The general app catalog model is not new, but what we’re doing with it is. 2010 will undoubtedly be a year of technology innovation. We don’t know who (or what) will be the Twitter of 2010, but below are a few predictions for the coming year . Social Media and Mobile Tech Jobs Show Strongest Growth in 2009

There are 3 phrases that have rarely been spoken in the same sentence recently: Jobs 2009,Social Media and Mobile Technology are the exception. According to a report by Indeed, 7 of the 10 fastest growing opportunities of 2009 were social media or mobile-tech related, with Twitter showing the strongest growth. This isn’t surprising, of course, as growth is relative and where we were before as social media was not nearly the buzzword in 2008 as it was in 2009. The important aspect here is that as 2010 rolls through, we should expect the gains to continue and the relationship between the economy and the social web to stay tied hand-in-hand. Until the “next big thing” comes out to replace sites like Twitter and Facebook as valid business needs, we shouldn’t expect anything to change.

China Encourages Foreign Entrepreneurs & Investors to Establish Businesses in Country’s West Regions

China will make it easier for foreign investors and entrepreneurs to start businesses in the country, especially in its western provinces, the government said in a statement released after the latest State Council meeting on Wednesday. It said China would open a wider range of sectors such IT, software outsourcing to foreign investors and entrepreneurs and would encourage them to establish labor-intensive businesses in the west, the State Council, or cabinet, decided at a routine meeting. The cabinet’s decision will serve as a guideline for local governments to develop specific policies for implementation. China drew $77.9 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first 11 months of 2009, 9.9% less than in the same period of 2008. Inflows, which surged in the years after the country joined the World Trade Organization in 2001, are in the midst of recovering after being hit hard late last year by the global economic slowdown.

Say hello to the Open Source Decade

Open Source has been around for quite some time, but odds are most people you ask won’t know what “open source” is. This isn’t because open source is obscure, but rather it has slipped into the mainstream, and unless you’re already in the know, there’s no real reason you will have noticed it. But open source is here, and it’s growing. Linux maximus Linux was written by Linus Torvalds in 1991. Linux itself was based on earlier incomplete kernels that themselves were available for reworking and building upon.

Year in review—SEO– 2009 in Hindsight

One of the things even a novice in Internet Marketing would have predicted at the end of 2008 was the fact that more and more traditional marketing spending will move online at a rate more increasing than before. As told , the spending was expected to increase in organic SEO, and it has, and it will continue to do so (more in later posts in the series). Ok, so as search engine marketers, there were few predictions that are mostly evident by the content of our blogs: Prediction 1: Google will take a step closer to ruling this world: kidding, no bet I am not, we at TG realize the importance of knowing how Google is changing, and that is why we watch the search engine behavior closely, some examples are here , here , and here . Point being, we all use Google for search, so more and more of SEO world will try to learn the Google insides more than ever. Convert or not?
