iPad bezel has spot for a camera
Looks like those of you who were sure that the iPad would have a camera were almost right. If the iPad internal bezel component is anything to go buy, it looks like Apple decided late in the game to not include a camera in their soon-to-be-released tablet – that, or they were keeping their options open. In the image above, you see the iPad bezel at the top, and a bezel for a unibody MacBook at the bottom. In the middle is the camera that slips into the MacBook frame, and as you can see, it fits perfectly into the iPad frame as well.

Multi-tasking Egg & Muffin Toaster
If you’re a fan of the breakfast sandwich, the multi-tasking Egg & Muffin toaster by Back-to-Basics may be your new favorite kitchen gadget. First, it can (of course) toast an English muffin, a bagel or two slices of toast. Second, it can warm a slice of Canadian bacon or a sausage patty. Third, it can either poach an egg or hard-boil four of them. All functions can be done simultaneously or independently. Back-to-Basics does not appear to have a website, but this item is available through many online sellers and of course at Amazon . Prices vary, but typically around $35. Note that there is also a 4-slice, 2-egg version for a few more $. Ford Sees Mobile Success With Campaign Touting 2010 Taurus, Generates 20% CTR
Ford Motor Company, in an attempt to drive interest in its completely redesigned 2010 Taurus, launched a national mobile campaign at the end of last year that ended with an overall CTR of 20%, and reached a total mobile audience of over 1 million consumers. The campaign, powered by Mobile Posse, utilized full-color, full-screen creatives to showcase the exterior design of the new Taurus and highlighted select engineering and interior features- including the available 365-HP Ecoboost V6 engine, radar-enabled technologies, and massaging seats. By the end, nearly half of Mobile Posse’s unique users clicked on a Ford ad during the campaign. The campaign was the first by an automaker to utilize Mobile Posse’s idle screen “click-to-mobile web” functionality, which enables consumers to launch a complementary mobile website with a single click. After viewing the Ford Taurus ad, users were invited to visit Ford’s mobile website to find a local dealer.

Apple said to have halted production of 27″ iMacs
For a company that goes on and on and on and on and on to infinity about how well its products are made, Apple sure has a disaster on its hands in the 27″ iMac. As many of you no doubt recall, the market-place introduction of the monstrously large desktop computer was rather disastrous as 27-inchers that didn’t happen to emerge from their boxes bearing a striking resemblance to Humpty Dumpty after his fall would either be suffering from screen flickering or a bad case of jaundice. Apple tried to fix the issue in weeks past which only led to a delay of shipments, but now word is the company finally decided enough is enough and halted the production of all 27″ iMacs until a permanent solution is found. What do existing owners have to look forward to

Spray-on liquid glass is about to revolutionize almost everything?
Spray-on liquid glass is about to revolutionize almost everything … Spray-on liquid glass is transparent, non-toxic, and can protect virtually any surface against almost any damage from hazards such as water, UV radiation, dirt, heat, and bacterial infections. The coating is also flexible and breathable, which makes it suitable for use on an enormous array of products. The liquid glass spray (technically termed “SiO2 ultra-thin layering”) consists of almost pure silicon dioxide (silica, the normal compound in glass) extracted from quartz sand

Sony Ericsson’s Aspen revealed, brings WinMo 6.5.3 with it
Today’s looking to be a pretty big day for both Sony Ericsson and Microsoft: with the official announcement of SE’s new Aspen handset, both companies are ready to show off what they should have done in the first place. Sony Ericsson has never had much luck with their portrait-QWERTY portfolio, with their last attempt being the weirdo P1i a few years back, but the Aspen looks to be a solid (if rather dull) step in the right direction. It packs a 2.4-inch QVGA touchscreen display, 3.2 megapixel camera, WiFi, A2DP, with quad-band GSM/EDGE support into a svelte little frame, and its Greenheart pedigree means even the most eco-conscious among you will find something to like about it. Honestly though, the big news lies in the Aspen’s OS: it’s the first WinMo device to run 6.5.3, and while it may sound like yet another pointless incremental update, but it’s really anything but.

Crawling crochet earth
I should start considering more fiber enclosures for electronics, look how awesome this soft crawly earth robot is! However, creators Osamu Iwasaki and Hanakomet still call it RobotKnit, despite the fact that it is clearly crochet. After watching the video on repeat for the last fifteen minutes, I think I can forgive them. Inmarsat’s new phone trialed en route to June launch, definitely won’t be mistaken for a RAZR
Inmarsat’s new phone trialed en route to June launch, definitely won’t be mistaken for a RAZR If you live your life one oil rig, one Siberian gas field, or one Antarctic base at a time, odds are you’re precisely the target demographic for Inmarsat’s new handset being rolled out later this year. Oddly, despite the company’s decades-long history of providing satellite phone service, the IsatPhone Pro is apparently the first model ‘purpose-built for its network’ with awesome features like Bluetooth, text messaging, email support, and GPS capability that can be injected into outgoing text messages (you know, for when you finally strike oil somewhere in the Mariana Trench). Anyhow, the company has announced that the first calls have now been successfully made using the handset on the way to retail availability this June — but if you have to ask for a price (either for the phone or a per-minute rate), odds are it’s not for you

Another vibrator app for the iPhone that isn’t kinky
If you have an iPhone / iPod Touch and a pile of cash burning a hole in your pocket, you need to check out the AcuTouch 9500 massage chair which can be controlled with your iPhone via Bluetooth. A special application called HT-Connect gives you the ability to choose from 16 programs that “fit your needs and desires” – Morning Wake Up, Rejuvenate, Surrender, Clarify, Sports/Back Therapy, Focus, Posture, Sore Muscle Relief, Sleep and more. I’m a little worried about the “Surrender” program… The app is free, but the massage chair’s $5999+ price tag will put you in the poor … [ visit site to read more ] Filed in categories: Home Tech , News , Spotlight Gadgets , iPhone related Tagged: Furniture , iPhone Another vibrator app for the iPhone that isn’t kinky originally appeared on The Gadgeteer on February 2, 2010 at 10:30 am.

Michael Hsu: Nokia Taiwan: Symbian 2 is garbage, we’re going straight to Symbian 3
Digitimes doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to rumours, so take this with a grain of salt, but they say that they’ve spoken to Michael Hsu, General Manager of Nokia ( NYSE: NOK ) Taiwan, and have learned that Nokia isn’t going to make any Symbian 2 handsets and instead is going to jump straight to Symbian 3. For those unfamiliar with how Symbian development works, there are 5 versions of the operating system being built at the same time

Bell rolls out Enhanced 911 (Phase Two) services in Canada
Bell is proud to announce the availability of Enhanced 911 (Phase Two) services for their subscribers as well as Solo Mobile clients with compatible handsets. The main difference between this new service and the old one is that responders can now accurately pinpoint the location of the caller via GPS and triangulation through the cellular towers within the vicinity. As the case is in most emergency situations, time is of great value, and with this new E911 (Phase Two) system in place, finding the location of the caller is now much easier and faster. Furthermore, thanks to this early roll by Bell, Canada is now in the record books as the first country in the world to implement this enhanced emergency call system on a nationwide basis. Of course, for this to work, you need to have a compatible handset.

Nokia skipping Symbian V2, Maemo 6 products in second half of 2010
DigiTimes is reporting that mobile giant Nokia plans to forgo Symbian V2 and release Symbian V3, complete with multitouch functions, in the second half of 2010. Perhaps even more exciting than that, was what Digi’s sources had to say about Symbian 4: “Symbian version 4 is believed to be based on the Qt cross-platform application development framework developed by Trolltech. The Qt will allow software developers to develop application software supporting Symbian and Maemo platforms simultaneously.” Nokia acquired Trolltech back in June, 2008. While no details of Maemo 6 were revealed, the article does state that we’ll get our first look at Maemo 6 handsets by the second half of 2010.

BlackBerry Pearl 9100 coming to T-Mobile USA, Wind Canada?
RIM’s unannounced BlackBerry Pearl 9100 has been spotted in some new photos which indicate that the smartphone might be launched by T-Mobile in the US, or by Wind in Canada. As seen in the images below, the Pearl 9100 supports WCDMA bands I, IV and VIII – meaning 2100MHz, 1700MHz (AWS) and 900MHz. Since T-Mobile and Wind are the only North American carriers that use the 1700MHz spectrum, they’re almost certainly among the ones to offer the 9100.
