HTC Acquisition : French Software Company Abaxia
HTC HTC is showing no signs of slowing down, according to Arne Hess from theunwired.net HTC has acquired Paris-based Abaxia, a leader in custom software for mobile operators and handset manufacturers around the world. Founded in 2001, Abaxia is a leading software developer specializing in mobile solutions that quickly promote and monetize operator and handset manufacturer services on smartphones. With the development of some great UI for Windows Mobile from the HTC Cube to the modern day HTC Sense on Android and Windows Phone, HTC should have some new UI in the works , now we know WP7 wont allow HTC ( or anybody else for that matter ) to customize the UI so will the new stuff be for Android ? No financial details about the deal has been disclosed yet. You might also like these : HTC hits record revenue Is HTC Mondrian the first Windows Phone 7 from HTC ?

How The Apple iPad Is Changing The Way We Consume Media
The Apple iPad is either a revolutionary device that is set to totally change the way we look at computing or it’s just another device pushed by Apple that we don’t really want or need. It depends who you talk to. A product has not split its market in two like this for a long time. The iPad is a tablet computer made by Apple and can basically be thought of as a cross between a laptop and an iPhone .

new guitar hero guitars look awesome
The guys over at Gizmodo got their hands on early pics of the new guitars for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock , and they’re really looking sweet. By moving all of the electronics out the body of the guitar and into the neck, you’ll be able to swap outthe bodies to personalize your guitar to your own liking. While the new designs don’t change the functionality of the controllers in any way, they sure look purty. I can also imagine that with a standard neck design that 3rd parties will start making all sorts of guitar bodies you can swap out too. Or better yet, I’m hoping for some cool homebrew mods that really take the guitars to the next level.

HTC buys Abaxia. Sense UI might become better with idle screen improvements
HTC has briefly announced the acquisition of Abaxia, a French software developer founded back in 2001. The Taiwanese company doesn’t give too many details on what the purchase of Abaxia will bring to end users, but it did say that this would “deepen and broaden software development capabilities so that it can innovate at an even faster pace.” Now, if we pay a visit to Abaxia’s official website , we’re finding out that the French company has three major products, which could obviously improve HTC’s own Sense UI (deployed on Android , Windows Mobile, and even Brew phones). The three products are: Mobile Portal – a “white label Active Idle Screen application embedded on the handset”, providing “one-click access to value-added services and information, through the idle screen.” Mobile Finder – provides “smart search onto the idle screen, including on-device and on-line search with minimum key strokes.” Abaxia Open Platform (AOP) – “a server solution that allows activating the idle screen”. It offers “an end-to-end client server architecture to access content, advertising and search from a mobile handset.” DigiTimes has it that HTC paid $13.14 million for Abaxia

AT&T favorably adjusts iPhone upgrade eligibility, just in time for the iPhone 4G
Later today, Apple is expected to officially announce the fourth-generation iPhone (widely known as iPhone 4G or iPhone HD – although it might have a different name in the end). In order to lure as many users to buy the new iPhone, AT&T has reportedly adjusted upgrade eligibility requirements, so if yesterday you were not eligible to get a new subsidized iPhone, today you might be (with or without the $18 upgrade fee). You can check if you’re eligible by logging in to AT&T’s website with your Wireless Number or U-verse Member ID. The new Apple iPhone should have a white and a black version, probably featuring a 960 x 460 pixels display, 5MP camera with flash, video calling, tethering, and a faster processor. Sony Ericsson Walkman Android phone pictured, called W150i TeaCake?
Sony Ericsson’s rumored Walkman Android phone might have just made its unofficial debut on the Web, thanks to a Chinese forum, where a user claims to have a leaked photo of the handset. If this is indeed the real Walkman Android device, it does look a lot like the X10 Mini, as previously said, and it seems to have the same “4-corner UI” on top of Android . The guy who posted the photo (seen below) says the phone is named Sony Ericsson W150i, and its codename is TeaCake. Reportedly, the handset currently runs Android 1.5 – it would be a stupid move for Sony Ericsson to release it like this, so we should hope it will have Android 2.1 at launch. The unconfirmed features of Sony Ericsson W150i include a 2.6 inch QVGA display, 5MP camera, and changeable covers

Acer Stream Review
Acer are starting to make a name for themselves as a supplier of quality, smartphone devices, and the Acer Stream looks to continue the good start made by this relative newcomer to the handset market. As with many other Acer handsets, the Stream runs on the Android Operating System, and comes pre-loaded with Android OS 2.1, codenamed Éclair. Recently the next incarnation of Android OS, codenamed Froyo was announced, and the Stream will be upgradeable when Froyo becomes readily available. The Acer Stream is a powerhouse of a smartphone, in terms of performance and looks. Weighing in at 140g, and measuring 120 x 63 x 11 mm, the Stream has an amazing 3.7 inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, supporting up to 16 million colours

Motorola Milestone XT720 (Motoroi) announced in Europe (video)
Motorola has confirmed that it’s bringing the Motoroi XT720 to Europe , albeit under a different name: Motorola Milestone XT720. The Milestone XT720 has just been announced in the UK as the first Android smartphone to feature Xenon flash. Like the Korean Motoroi , the new handset comes with a 3.7 inch WVGA (480 x 854) multi-touch capacitive display, Wi-Fi, GPS, HDMI port, 3.5mm headset jack, 8MP autofocus camera, HD (720p) video recording, and an 8GB card included in the box. Unfortunately, the processor of the Milestone XT720 is not faster than the one of Motoroi, as previously rumored – it’s just a 550MHz one. The Milestone XT720 runs Android 2.1, but it will probably be updated to Android 2.2 Froyo after launch

HTC Evo 4G breaks launch day sales record for Sprint
Made available to the public last Friday, June 4, the HTC Evo 4G Android phone has proven itself to be a worthy investment for Sprint as it has just broke the US carrier’s record for most units sold on launch day which previously belonged to the Palm Pre. They didn’t divulge any specific sales figures, but they did, however, reveal that there are “ temporary shortages of the device at some of the 22,000 sales locations across the Unites States, including Sprint retail stores, national retail partners including RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart, and indirect dealers

Sprint HTC EVO 4G unsurprisingly breaks sales record on launch day
Sprint has proudly announced that the HTC EVO 4G has become its best-selling phone on launch day, breaking records previously held by Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre. Sprint doesn’t say exactly how many units it sold on launch day (June 4 – last Friday), but it did mention that “the total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.” That’s impressive, I guess. The EVO is the world’s first WiMax Android phone, as well as one of Sprint’s best smartphones ever (if not the best), so the news of record sales is not really a surprise.

SMK-Link USB Audio Station Upgrades Notebook Sound, Reduces Neck Pain
Generic notebook / netback docks of all kinds are proliferating. While they are made for the purpose of port replication, more of them are now designed from an ergonomic point of view. SMK-Link’s new Notebook USB Audio Station is such a product. The so-called audio station is actually a notebook elevator that raises the screen to a 26-degree tilt angle at a eye level.
