Fortune names their 50 smartest people in tech

Fortune has gone all tech on us this week, compiling a list of who they think are the fifty smartest people in tech. We found it interesting because most lists focus on the richest CEOs, or straight up performance on the job rather than things like intelligence, and the vision and impact they have on the tech world. The way they did it was to break the list down into ten categories (smartest CEO, smartest founder, etc.) and then list five names in each, listing a top choice for each category in the process. Here’s a peek at what they came up with: Smartest CEO: Steve Jobs, CEO, Apple Smartest Founder: Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Facebook Smartest Designer: Jonathan Ive, Senior VP of Industrial Design, Apple Smartest Academic: Danah Boyd, Social Media Researcher, Microsoft Research Hi the read link below to head to Fortune for the full list. As well as on forthcoming devices, the new OS is rumoured to be compatible with some of the more recent BlackBerry devices, such as the BlackBerry 9700 . This would be good news for many loyal BlackBerry users; the videos of the new OS seem to indicate a touch-based interface, which would restrict availability on current devices to the Storm and Storm 2 , hardly the most popular of recent BlackBerry handsets. iPhone 4 Stuns No One by Charging Faster Off AC Outlet than USB

A concerned multi-iPhone owner has taken it upon himself to test the two primary means of charging the iPhone 4 , AC outlet and USB port. The test wasn’t executed very scientifically, calls came in as well as text messages, while the test was going on. The results are however fairly interesting and by interesting we mean obvious. The AC adapter, having a near constant and regulated high current charge, beat out the 2008 laptop.

David Prowse Banned From Lucas Film Events. Perhaps James Earl Jones’ Voice Will Show Up Instead

David Prowse, the actor who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars films is no longer allowed to attend official Star Wars and other related Lucas Film based events. Prowse has been attending official events since the Star Wars Trilogy debuted, however he has had an ongoing feud with George Lucas after his lines were dubbed over by James Earl Jones before the first movie debuted, that dubbing occurred without his knowledge. Prowse was also replaced by actor Sebastian Shaw in the famous scene in which Darth Vader finally removes his mask to reveal his face. The Lucas/Prowse feud allegedly hit full steam ahead when it was believed Prowse told the press in 1983 that Darth Vader was going to die

Consumer Reports Suggests iPhone 3GS Instead of iPhone 4

Releasing a new product into the market is always marred by some kind of problem. All that companies can do is hope that the problem isn’t big enough to bring down the world’s perception of that said product. While the iPhone 4 may not be hindered by issues big enough to the mass public to actually change any conceived perception, that’s not stopping Consumer Reports from doing what they need to do.
