HTC Desire – Testing The Waters
If there is one thing I will miss not having a Nokia for my main handset is the dedicated camera button. Especially with the two step autofocus feedback. Taking pictures without it just feels really unnatural. Lets be honest HTC is not renowned for their imaging capabilities, they can take OK pictures, but the experience doesn’t really compare with how a Nokia does. Saying that, I did take a few snaps to test out how they would come out

Turning Yellow Pages into Gold: Making Money from Mobile Search.
CHANGE IS COMING TO BUSINESS SEARCH: That we are about to witness a sea of change in the traditionally tranquil waters of business directories was made patently clear at a recent meeting of key Yellow Page businesses at the EADP Conference in Mallorca. In mature European markets like the UK, printed directory revenues are declining by approximately 12% year on year. Meantime, digital revenues (PC web and mobile) have been growing year after year, and on a global basis, account for more than 20% of total business directory revenues. But the web growth story is one that dates from the ‘noughties’, the decade spanning 2000-2009. Today in the ‘teenies’, the decade started this year; mobile is the key engine of growth.

Garmin Edge 800 New Touchscreen Bike Computer
Garmin has announced a great looking new Edge 800 GPS based touchscreen bike computer that looks to be a big step up in capabilities, notable adding Birdseye satellite imagery and touchscreen capabilities. The Edge 800 interacts with Garmin Basecamp software where you can plan rides and then download them to the Edge 800. If your ride partners have a wireless capable GPS, you can then beam the route to them via Garmi’s wireless sharing feature. Compatible Fitness units include the Edge 705 and 605, along with the Garmin Oregon series, Dakota 20 and the older Colorado series handheld units. I use a Colorado 400t when biking to which I have added City Navigator NT maps so I can navigate roads.

Apple captures half of all handset profits though only capture 3% of global sales market revenue
Apple took nearly half of the available profits in the $6 billion mobile phone market in Q2 despite generating only 3% of sales. Apple’s Q2 share was more than double that of closest competitor Nokia, even though Nokia captured 34% of total sales. The disparity is partly down to Apple’s emphasis on profitability over sales, as well as the increasing importance of the smartphone market. Apple and RIM, both exclusive smartphone vendors, have gone from a combined 7% profit share to 65% in the last three years.
