Give Apple and the iPad a break.

Yesterday for 45 minutes the internet went silent while “everyone” watched Steve Jobs present the iPad. I must say I was awed by it but then I didn’t spend months mulling over what Apple will be coming up with and setting my expectations higher and higher with each rumor. I did know what I don’t like about current products such as netbooks, the Kindle, the Nook and the also soon to be released HP Slate. A few highlights of the iPad: iPhone apps work on it

Apple’s iPad :A Revolution in Personalize Computing

Apple Inc. unveiled a tablet computer named ‘iPad’ to revolutionized personal computing. Priced at $499, the device features a 10-inch touchscreen, with 3G data and a custom ARM processor instead of the previously considered Intel Atom processor. It will be positioned in that empty spot between smartphone and laptop in Apple’s product line.

iPad Wings and Other iPad Accessories Have Landed

So the new Apple tablet has finally arrived and instead of talking about what it can and can’t do, lets talk about what’s most important! And that is the accessories that will be coming out for this baby – it’s dress-up time. The creative folks over at Etsy already have iPad Wings (hardy har har) because like the designer behind it says “Every woman knows that wings make pads”. These stick on decals won’t really protect or do anything remotely useful for the iPad, but it will probably make you the butt of many jokes. On a more serious note, Griffin has already released some cases: The Elan Sleeve, Flex Grip, and Jumper. All of them aim to protect your new baby, but are not really that fashionable or even that pretty.

iPad vs Booklet 3G/Netbook vs N900/Smartphone vs laptop: Which is the most productive device?

Imagine you could only have one device on a day’s work. View This Poll survey Steve Jobs criticized netbooks yesterday saying netbooks aren’t better than anything .  Apple are now trying to carve yet another new niche (the path pre-paved by iPhone) or at least make people think that’s what they’re doing. Really, they’re just polishing, adding sprinkles of BS (and some genuinely good stuff) so people will think this is something they need.

Apple iPad: What We Still Don’t Know

Apple answered a lot of questions Wednesday about its fabled tablet, now known as the iPad. We know it has a 9.7-inch screen, weighs 1.5 pounds, has Wi-Fi with a 3G option, and Apple claims it has up to 10 hours of battery life. The iPad runs the iPhone OS and “almost all” iPhone apps and uses the ePub format for books.

iPad 3G data plan the real star of Apple’s show?

Apple have never been impressed with netbooks – they’ve consistently criticized the budget ultraportables and maintained that they have no interest in producing one – but with the Apple iPad Steve Jobs basically declared war on netbooks.  After opening with a snub – “netbooks aren’t better at anything – they’re just cheap laptops” – Jobs went on to rub salt in the wound with the launch of a 3G data plan that’s half what netbook buyers are currently expected to pay. With AT&T – a carrier who will happily sell you a $60 per month, two year data agreement either with a USB modem or a netbook with integrated WWAN – Apple revealed iPad 3G pricing of $14.99 for 250MB or $29.99 for unlimited data.  Leaving aside the first plan, which we’ve a feeling the allowance of which most iPad users would merrily sail through, that $29.99 is just half what AT&T would charge all other users. It doesn’t stop there: the iPad’s data contract is, in fact, a pre-pay system and contract-free.

Just announced: Apple iPad Specifications (Should smartphones and netbooks be scared?)

So we have the touch tablet, iPad (Genius name! -_-) Steve Jobs announced today that Apple is the largest mobile company in the world (in terms of revenue). Bigger than Sony, Samsung and even Nokia. They said that their new device had to be something in between a laptop and a smartphone. For simple tasks like web browsing/email/apps, Jobs says there needs to be a third category

iPod, iPhone, iPad: Apple gets creative with its tablet

(photos via http://www.engadget.com) It’s official. Apple has dropped its little creation into the world. The iPad made its debut in Steve Jobs’ hands today during the long-anticipated media event that tech geeks and industry pundits have been all excited about over the past few weeks.

iPad has optional keyboard dock, camera connection kit and Apple-designed case

This whole time we’ve been wondering how we’ll really get any typing done on Apple’s new iPad , and at last we have the answer: an optional keyboard dock! No word on price yet, or whether this will be available at launch — we’d say “eat your heart out, netbooks” but we won’t, because they shouldn’t. In even better news, however, the device will also work with standard Bluetooth keyboards like Apple’s own wireless QWERTY slabs. Additionally, Apple will be selling a “camera connection kit” to allow you to plug your camera in over USB or use an SD card to import pictures.

Apple iPad 3G service plans on AT&T, $30 for unlimited data

In a direct blow to everyone else with a netbook and an unlimited data plan, AT&T has scored a deal to offer unlimited 3G data on 3G-capable versions of the iPad for $29.99 a month (then again, this is the same as an iPhone plan, and you’re getting iPhone-level capability here). A 250MB plan, meanwhile, will be available for half that at $14.99 a month. Activation can happen right on the device — no store visits or calls are necessary — and there’s no contract involved. The device is fully unlocked, so if you absolutely want to, you’re welcome to take it to any other GSM carrier of your choice (assuming you can find a SIM that works — Apple’s talking up a new “micro SIM” for it).

Apple Announces iPad Media Device

Ending months (years?) of rumors, Apple today officially unveiled their tablet computer named the Apple iPad. During a January 27 2010 Apple Event, Apple CEO Steve Jobs called the iPad “way better than a laptop, way better than a phone”. The iPad weights in only 1.5 pounds, which is currently lighter than any netbook, and comes in at 0.5 inches thin. The device also includes a 9.7-inch IPS display (looks 4:3?) .

Apple iPad revealed

It’s been a long, rumor-filled road, but today Apple has finally revealed a tablet, called the iPad . Steve Jobs seemed genuinely thrilled to demo the iPad, which weighs just 1.5 pounds, is a half-inch thin, and has a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS display. More interesting, Apple has built their own custom 1GHz processor, called the Apple A4 chip, to power the iPad
