BlackBerry Curve 8900 Ditched by T-Mobile
If you are a fan of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone from Research In Motion on the T-Mobile network and haven’t yet got one the chances of actually going to T-Mobile and getting one have just been greatly reduced. The reason being, according to an article over on engadget , T-Mobile has now officially confirmed they are discontinuing the BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone and will no longer offer it. T-Mobile’s answer as to why the discontinuation is that the BlackBerry Curve 8900 has “reached the end of its life cycle,” and well you can get straighter than that can you. Still, even though T-Mobile has decided to ditch the BlackBerry Curve 8900 there are still a few good alternative BlackBerry smartphones to be had such as the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Curve 8520.

T-Mobile’s Dark Project Returns; Adds Hype to HTC HD2, Moto Zeppelin Launch?
We’ve seen T-Mobile’s Dark Project before. Our last encounter with this mysterious “project” was back in October , when the so-called “Project Black” was building up hype for what was supposed to be huge game-changers. At the time we thought it may be launches for cool new handsets and new programs, when in actuality it was just a few rate plan changes. They were still pivotal, but nothing groundbreaking and certainly not worth all the hype the mystery gave it.

Mini External Mic for iPhone from Maximobileshop.com is cool
I just received in this cheeky little gadget from Maximobileshop.com – it’s a mini external microphone for the Apple ( NSDQ: AAPL ) iPhone (and some iPod) devices. It’s quite a simple concept – much like a wired headset with an inline mic, this does away with all the cabling and just gives you a module you can plug in.

BlackBerry Pearl 9100 coming to T-Mobile USA, Wind Canada?
RIM’s unannounced BlackBerry Pearl 9100 has been spotted in some new photos which indicate that the smartphone might be launched by T-Mobile in the US, or by Wind in Canada. As seen in the images below, the Pearl 9100 supports WCDMA bands I, IV and VIII – meaning 2100MHz, 1700MHz (AWS) and 900MHz. Since T-Mobile and Wind are the only North American carriers that use the 1700MHz spectrum, they’re almost certainly among the ones to offer the 9100.

Protecting the enterprise from mobile devices
As often happens with electronics trends, the proliferation of a consumer device soon results in that gadget knocking on the door to the enterprise. That’s the case with smartphones. The trend started with the Blackberry, was supercharged by the iPhone and will continue to grow with phones running Google’s Android operating system. What’s worrisome about these devices is that they run applications… far too many applications that any IT department could vet for security purposes. Jupiter Research, purchased by Forrester research in 2008, estimates that by 2014, 20 billion apps will be downloaded annually to smartphones.

Citi Mobile iPhone app updated with new functionality for credit card customers
Citibank, which is nowadays best known as one of the biggest “users” of TARP money, is out with an updated iPhone application. The main idea is to provide Citi credit card customers with the ability to “manage their spending more wisely.” In that sense, users can check account balances and available credit with just a tap of the screen. Additionally, the application also provides details on recent transactions, as well as the date on which the next payment is due – very handy. And that’s about it

Greystripe unveils results of its 99-cent guaranteed iPhone app download program
Some time ago we talked about Greystripe’s unique proposal to offer free iPhone app developers guaranteed download for 99 cents per download . Now we have some campaign results to share. The program was offered to the first 200 developers who signed up and included such brands as Kraft, Chorus and PlayMesh. All campaigns reached their download targets, and the big winner is PlayMesh’s iFarm, which has received a 56% conversion rate on clicks and has been downloaded more than 60,000 times. Unsurprisingly, this helped push iFarm to the number one spot in AppStore’s free app rankings

We still don’t know when specifically Rogers will be coming out with the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, but for those interested in Sony Ericsson’s first Android offering, we now have a video of it live in action courtesy of Mobilesyrup .
