Conan O’Brien Turns To Foursquare To Promote New Show, Launches His Own Badge

I’ll admit it, I’m a big fan of Conan O’Brien and can’t wait for his show to come back on the air.  I also have to give credit to O’Brien and crew for their recent use of social media and other new-age marketing mediums to promote the new show — and himself — ever since going off air amid the Tonight Show fiasco. Case in point, Team Coco, in partnership with AT&T, has launched the The Conan Blimp , which was launched into the skies above Philadelphia over the weekend.  The bright orange blimp will travel all over the East Coast for the entire month of October with the simple graphic “CONAN” plastered on each side

In a New York Times article published over the weekend, numerous experts from all facets of the ecosystem gave their thoughts on what HTML5 will mean for the average consumer.  The concern stems from the fact that the new Web language and its additional features present more tracking opportunities because the technology uses a process in which large amounts of data can be collected and stored on the user’s hard drive while online.

Compare Cellular Phones Befor Buying On the internet

When purchasing for a telephone on the web, a single inevitably comes across websites that supply the chance to evaluate cell mobile phones and prices in order to facilitate a far better and more rewarding transaction. Most folks require such comparisons to decide in between two or more buy options, because the parallel analysis reveals excellent and weak spots in different models. 1 other way to assess mobile mobile phones would be to analyze the locked and unlocked cellphone versions and see that is more advantageous for you. Therefore, a locked cellular telephone you get from a particular support provider may generally come together with an exclusive computer software that you simply wouldn’t have available in the unlocked variant. Furthermore, the price for that gadget is frequently twice decreased for such packages; the inconvenience is always that you’d be bound to a two-year contract most of the time if you don’t look for unlocked cell phones for sale

Infographic: Who’s Suing Who In Mobile

As the mobile industry continues to grow exponentially and newcomers displace old-timers in terms of devices, services and nearly everything else in the mobile ecosystem, litigation continues to run rampant.  Whether it’s disputes over patent infringement, anti-trust inquiries or even the “handling of digital images,” a lawsuit seems to be the easiest answer for companies large and small. David McCandless, a data journalist and designer, put together this awesome infographic published on his Website “Information is Beautiful” [embedded below] to visually identify who’s suing whom in the telecom world.  He even differentiates between ongoing and finished lawsuits with different arrows, while the size of the cubes represent the various company’s estimated revenue.  In addition, if a company’s cube is red, it means its revenue is decreasing, while gray cubes represent companies with increasing revenues

Japanese Mobile Web Usage Growing Rapidly

Japanese mobile web usage has grown to outpace that of the United States. It seems that when it comes to being connected on the go, the Japanese have quickly become a leader in that category. According to the findings from a new study by comScore, a staggering three-quarters of all Japanese mobile subscribers accessed the mobile web, apps or other downloaded digital content during the month of June 2010. By comparison in the US, only 43.7% of mobile users did the same – not even close, but still ahead of Europe’s 38.5% Interestingly, Japanese mobile users also displayed “the strongest usage of both applications and browsers” with 59.3% of the entire mobile population accessing their browsers in June and 42.3% accessing applications. Once again, those figures outpace those found among mobile web users in the US

Sony announces 16 Megapixel Exmor R camera sensor for mobile phones

Sony promises to “dramatically improved photographic performance” with its latest Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS image sensors that will be integrated in two new lens modules made for mobile phones. One of the new sensors, called Sony Exmor R IMX081PQ, is capable of providing 16.41 Megapixel photos, adopting “the industry’s smallest 1 unit pixel size of 1.12 micrometers”. To elude issues that may appear when a unit pixel is that small, Sony has implemented “a unique formation of photo diodes optimally designed for fine pixel structure to realize a CMOS image sensor with high resolution, high sensitivity and low noise” – this should allow you to capture high quality images and videos even in unfavorable light settings. The Exmor R IMX081PQ 16MP sensor will ship for about $30 starting January next year – several months before another new Exmor R sensor (IMX105PQ, 8 Megapixels) should ship for only $18. The new Sony lens that will include the 16MP and 8MP Exmor R sensors are called IU081F and IU105F2.
