Screenshot The initial report is here : http://www.1800pocketpc.com/2010/01/22/unacceptable-behaviour-by-developer-in-windows-mobile-marketplace.html We covered the story with screenshots from Snow Rally City Stage and Speed City 3D which looks quite nice on the marketplace while the ingame screenshots were not that appealing. The developers have got back to us with this statement The screenshots we submitted are rendered by OpenGL ® or OpenGL ES ®. The screenshots are shared for all platforms including devices powered by Open GL ES. We have added a note for the screenshots at our website: “Screenshots and movie on this page are rendered by OpenGL ® or OpenGL ES ®.” Since most Windows Mobile devices do not provide Open GL ES support, we decided to submit new screenshots

Mobile Marketing Association Expands, Restructures

The Mobile Marketing Association has revealed pans to restructure into business units in its operating regions, which include Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East and Africa, Latin America and North America. As a critical component of the MMA’s restructuring effort, the “roles and responsibilities” of managing directors in their respective regions will expand to focus more intensely on “local needs.” The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), a leading non-profit trade association, was established to “lead the growth of mobile marketing and its associated technologies.” By restructuring the MMA to follow mobile marketing’s growth into newer, and more localized territories, the MMA will likely serve more efficiently and effectively in its capacity. “The restructuring enables us to address the growing popularity of mobile marketing and our increasing membership all over the world, while enabling a measure of ‘geographic specificity’ to how the organization operates,” said Federico Pisani Massamormile, interim MMA CEO. Activator: a free and extremely powerful jailbreak app launcher for iPhone [Jailbreak Apps]

The power of Ryan Petrich’s Activator (free on Cydia) dawned on me only this weekend. Activator is used in the excellent Overboard and ProSwitcher apps to launch them with gestures, status bar taps, and hardware button presses. I had heard that these options should soon be applicable to BigBoss’s SBSettings panel, but that hasn’t happened yet. What has happened, though, is even better: you can now choose to launch any of your installed applications using any of the gestures and actions that Activator supports. There are also a number of system shortcuts (respring, reset, turn off, lock, etc.) that you can control as well.

Weekend iPhone Spring[board] Cleaning [iPhone Jailbreak]

It’s a little early for spring cleaning but, hey, I was running out of space. I did a hard reset over the weekend and completely wiped out all of my previous settings and all of the local data because I was convinced that something had gone wrong during on of my iTunes syncs. The “other” data was up to 724 MB and my Apps had ballooned to 1.74 GB. I tried to do some basic addition with a calculator based on the numbers that iTunes was giving me, and I should really have had only 800 MB worth of app data on my device (and that was including the 100MB from my local Evernote notebook storage). Something was wrong, and so, in true Canadian fashion, I used a nuclear warhead on my device and started from scratch

Looking at the figures reveals the following distribution: Unfortunately, things don’t look too rosy for the “market leader”: “Nokia has outperformed in smartphones, but longer-term challenges still remain, including below-average share of the high-growth touchscreen market and a tiny presence in the influential US market,” the research firm said in a statement. via MBB
