Android accounts for more than a quarter of U.S. smartphone ad requests
Google’s Android operating system generated 27 percent of mobile ad requests from U.S. smartphones in Q4, according to mobile advertising network AdMob’s Mobile Metrics Report for December 2009. While Apple’s iPhone accounted for 54 percent of U.S. smartphone requests in the previous quarter, AdMob notes that Android’s market share grew throughout 2009, and its U.S.

Pro Switcher updated to 1.1 [Jailbreak apps]
v1.1 Pro Switcher 1.1 is now available for download on Cydia and Rock, and the change log says something about numerous bug fixes, returning options, and some other good stuff. Truth be told, I haven’t experienced any Pro Switcher bugs, and I use the app every single day. I haven’t noticed any updated or improved settings aside from the way the Springboard card image stays locked to the first home screen, but I’m assuming that developers Ryan Petrich and chpwn are the ones we should believe here, not the silly blogger guy. The update to the Palm-Pre styled task switcher is free (like the app), so you can pick it up right now. I’d suggest using Rock, since it will load up so much faster © Ragart for Just Another iPhone Blog , 2010

MiLiberty & Mobile World Congress press accreditation – or – how to kill an event
Tradeshows are struggling for some time: most manufacturers think that the money spent on a booth is better invested into direct advertising. After all, journalists can be reached significantly faster by just sending them a press release – and a free sample goes quite a long way, too. Keeping an event successful thus requires not only smart management, but also an effective way to attract the media. Unfortunately, the folks at MiLiberty’s seem to have issues understanding this basic rule of thumb

My Plan to leave Evernote… [General]
I’ve been irritated by Evernote’s strange treatment of text for a while now. I often start drafts on my iPhone and finish things up on my Mac. The thing is, any text that has been edited on an iPhone and then synced to the desktop is somehow fudged up and ends up as one giant block when I paste it.

I’ve never felt a great desire to try out a wood case for any of my iPhones – but I am a fan of Larry Greenberg’s case reviews, and he is very enthusiastic in his praise for this new case-mate Mahogany case. He reckons the wood is super smooth and pretty gorgeous looking on this one. If you’ve ever considered trying out a wooden case for your iPhone 3G or 3GS, his video review is well worth a look: http://www.geardiary.com/2010/01/24/video-review-case-mate-mahogany-case-for-iphone-3g-3gs/ © PatrickJ for Just Another iPhone Blog , 2010. | Permalink | | Add to del.icio.us Post tags: case reviews , Larry Greenberg

Evernote for Symbian released as an unofficial web-runtime app
If Evernote doesn’t want to address the largest segment of the smartphone market (Symbian users), users themselves will make the app for their devices. That’s exactly what happened and we have a guy named “Pasha” releasing the Evernote client for Symbian S60 5th Edition as a web-runtime app. It’s not a full blown native app, so don’t expect all of the features the iPhone or Android versions have. Rather, the app is made using HTML, CSS and JavaScript, but still, it’s something for a start and if you’re on an unlimited data plan, you won’t care much.

Review: Rafter, a DaVinci-inspired physics game for iPhone [iPhone App Reviews]
version 1.0 Rafter is 21 levels of Da Vinci-inspired fun. The action doesn’t last very long, but this $0.99 title is definitely worth the money. That’s because Rafter presents one of the better physics-based puzzle engines I’ve seen out on the iPhone. The gameplay is actually very simple: draw a shape at the top of the screen and have it drop onto the red mine at the bottom of the screen. Then again, as the screenshot above illustrates, it’s not quite that easy.
