Pirata Boat Race gets your iPhone/iPod Touch into the rowing game
The Pirata Boat Race from Pirata London on Vimeo . Okay, the award for best use of an iPhone/iPod Touch in an online game goes to Pirata Boat Race by Pirata London. You can watch the video of it in the video here, and it is one of the most unique video games that I have ever seen. What happens is that the user syncs their iPhone with the website via the camera, or a code for the iPod Touch. After that, it is a matter of moving the virtual boat on a PC screen by rowing with the iPhone

Panasonic has a new durable laptop offering for those in need called the ToughBook T9. While most ‘tough’ laptops feature a bulky form factor, the F9 does things a bit differently with a slim and somewhat sexy design while retaining the ability to be dropped from up to 30-inches and being resistant to spills. Weighing in at 3.6-pounds, Panasonic’s ToughBook T9 features an Intel Core i5 vPro processor clocked at 2.4GHz, a 14.1-inch 1,440 x 900 display, 320GB of storage space, and options for Bluetooth 2.1, WiMax, a dual-layer DVD drive, fingerprint reader, 7-hour battery and 2GB od DDR 3 RAM. AirMicro A1 microscope syncs wirelessly with the iPad
This is the AirMicro A1 microscope, which is a microscope designed to sync to the iPad. It is from Scalar Corporation, a Japanese company that hopes to sell 50,000 of these units. I’m guessing that the market would be schools if they are going for those types of numbers.

iPhone 4 to Launch at Best Buy, Too
It seems that Radio Shack isn’t the only non-Apple retailer getting the recently announced iPhone 4 on launch date. Reports have just surfaced that say Best Buy too will be getting the device with stock numbers lingering right around 45. The demand for the iPhone 4 is sure to be massive so if you’re planning on getting one (I know I am) be sure to get a pre-order in on June 15th with a retailer of your chooser. Luckily, Apple is offering shipping for the iPhone 4 which means you’ll be able to get the device right on June 24th without having to deal with all of the long lines and other inconveniences.

Destroy9 for iPhone and iPod Touch free for one day
For those who like the real-time strategy games might enjoy Destroy9. It is available for free for the iPhone and iPod Touch until June 10, so that means you have one day to this writing. This app has 3D graphics, online leaderboards, and an original soundtrack by Akinatz. I’m not certain what this game is about, except a “Great Retake the Earth”. I’m also not certain why it is called Destroy9

Samsung Mobile has something going down on June 29
With all the news about the iPhone 4 and its new “Retina Display”, it is easy to forget the Samsung Galaxy S and its shockingly clear AMOLED display that I saw at CTIA last March . As you can see from this ad here, Samsung is promising some “next generation in Android smart phones”. I’m going to guess that the release date for the Galaxy S will be announced here, which is rumored to be July 21 from T-Mobile. Of course, there is always room for surprises

Review: Twin Blades for iPhone
Take one lesbian nun, a scythe, six upgradeable weapons, hordes of undead, and some of the smoothest visuals I have ever seen on the iPhone, and you’ve got yourself a solid $2.99 action title in the form of Twin Blades . If you’re into mindless zombie destruction coupled with incredibly stylish action (and don’t mind a bit, well, a lot of repetition), then Twin Blades will deliver in spades

SNES on the iPad with iPhone as controller
Okay, this might be the coolest thing that I am going to see all day. It is essentially the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) running on an emulator, with an iPhone used as the controller. This application is built on ZodTTD’s emulator, the man who gave us the Playstation Emulator for Android devices . Yeah, apparently this is “coming soon” from Cydia . In order to get it, both your iPhone and iPad will need to be jailbroken

What you are seeing here in this video is Eyesight, a natural user interface that allows gesture-based recognition commands. For example, a wave of the hand in front of the phone can answer an incoming call, browse through photos, or change tracks on an MP3 player. It can even be used for GPS navigation software

We’re scratching our heads at this one. It’s only been a week since Nintendo announced that there would be new colors coming to the DSi XL line-up, and while that was all well and good, there wasn’t any announcement saying that the new shades would be seeing release anywhere else other than Japan

AdMob Founder Omar Hamoui Responds To Apple’s Updated iPhone Developer Terms
It was only a matter of time before AdMob and others in the mobile advertising game responded to Apple’s updated developer terms which effectively prohibit app developers from using third-parties such as AdMob and Google’s advertising solutions on the iPhone. The new terms have left many in the industry scratching their head as to why Apple would make such a blatant anti-competitive move, and the responses are starting to come forward.
