EFO Mini Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard

We have covered a lot of Bluetooth keyboards in the past, like the one from Freedom i-Connex and Chinavasion . This one from EFO is about the size of a credit card and has F1-F12 function keys, CTRL, ALT, DEL, and even multimedia playback buttons. Looks good for the iPhone or iPad, and you can get it for $32 or when it goes back to a non-introductory price of $40 in September. Kegmate from Yelp uses iPad

I suppose that the reason why I posted this is because I know there are people out there who like hearing the word “beer”. These guys at Yelp created the iPad Kegbot, a device that has an iPad to keep track of beer consumed. It also has an RFID reader so it can know who is drinking, and how much they have drank. I suppose that could make drinking responsibly better. It also has a lot of other features.

Link Love: Kieffer Bros on planning for polish

It’s the little things that can make the difference when it comes to design, and this latest post on the Kieffer Bros blog, entitled “ It’s Not Quite Done “,  sheds a little light on how to anticipate and make time for those minute details that make an app great. It’s a quick and interesting read, and reminds me of how I’m “Not Even Nearly Done” with Aqueduct . © Ragart for Just Another iPhone Blog , 2010.

App Makers, Consumers Shoulder Responsibility For Android Concerns

A Chinese mobile security solutions provider warned today that the proliferation of apps now available in the Android Market means that increasingly more malicious software–viruses, spyware, malware, and the like–now threaten Android phones. NetQin Mobile said in July that it found the program  called “Carrot App,” a tip calculator, will read all of a phone’s SMS messages and send them hourly to a designated email address; another version of the app can also “overhear” voice conversations on the phone. Today the company noted the 11-fold growth in the number of apps made available in in July 2010: 18,600 as opposed to the 1,669 apps in July 2009. Considering that one in five apps are able to access personal information, that’s a lot of potential for attacks against Android phones, NetQin said. China is a particularly nurturing place for dangerous computer programs to flourish, since many people buy counterfeit software and thus can’t access effective anti-virus programs.

Overexposure: Camera+ pulled from the App Store

yes, yes, I recycled this image from my last post… [ Clarification : I may not have been as clear as I would have liked to be, but my opinion on the matter is that the VolumeSnap tweak may have been leaked without developer consent, since the circumstances do seem a little mysterious.] [Update 2: added bit of info from 148 Apps article.] Ah, crap crap crap. As you may have read on other sites (or on “the Twitter”, as Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson likes to call it), there is a back door command to activate the VolumeSnap feature for tap tap tap’s Camera+ app. Developer tap tap tap tried to convince Apple to approve the feature in an official update, but it was rejected… twice

Simon Cowell Attempts to Clear His Bad Repuation with SEO Optimization

Oh, that Simon Cowell, he is known for spewing venom and being mean to innocent idol contestants, and now it seems like he wants to do a little SEO housekeeping of his image before his new show the X-Factor launches. Supposedly, Cowell has hired an SEO Optimization firm to make sure that all Google searches on his name only produce stories of him cuddling with bunnies and running through a field of tulips. However, his reps are insisting foul play and claim that this is a “conspiracy theory.” But to anyone with a curious mind, just Google Cowell’s name and you’ll find innocuous stories of his legacy, his recent trip to St. Tropez, and his bio.

FlipMe Dating Cards Are Modern Day Napkins at the Bar

FlipMe dating is a new online dating site that may give Match.com or eHarmony a run for its money, that is – if you have enough nerve to hand out these new FlipMe Dating Cards to any hotties that you spot.  FlipMe dating cards are designed as an open invitation to connect with a person that interests  you, instead of lets say putting your number on a napkin – or even the more sophisticated ‘tweeting’ at them… A FlipMe card contains FlipMe’s catch phrase “I’ve said, ‘What if?’ too many times. Not this time,” along with directions on how to contact the flipper. If the person/hottie you flipped is interested, they can log on to flipmedating.com , enter the FlipperID on the FlipMe card you handed to them, then enter a CardCode that is on the card, and they’ll then be able to contact you directly and securely

Win the Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 Laptop with Dolby Advanced Audio

According to research by Dolby Laboratories , a shift is happening in how Americans prefer to experience entertainment, with approximately 60% of surveyed college students now using their PCs, and not televisions, most for entertainment. The majority of students also believe PCs deliver the best overall entertainment experience and as a result, they expect higher quality audio to accompany the graphics quality they are getting on their screens. The survey also found that 77% like to listen to music using their PC and 70% like to watch video using their PC. This survey is no surprise to us since it seems like many people nowadays are replacing the TVs in their home with entertainment driven laptops.

Evernote 3.3.8 for iPhone: improved offline notebook support, added mysterious UI changes

I’m not quite sure of what to make of this latest Evernote update. The cloud-based notetaking service has improved its offline Notebook support (the interface is cleaner and it’s much clearer about which notebooks are fully synced), but as a basic (read: cheapskate) user of the service, I was hoping for a little more detail about the text note improvements
