Rumor: Nokia C7 ships with NFC capabilities built in, will be turned on later via software update

There’s an unsubstantiated rumor floating around that the Nokia C7, Finland’s second Symbian^3 device to start shipping , the first being the N8, has NFC capabilities built in , but due to being rushed to market the software written to support said internal hardware wasn’t included. In the future however Nokia will issue a software upgrade that will make the C7 one of the first mass market devices with near field communication built in. Now if this is true, and it may just be a PR snafu, then I’ve got to wonder what the hell Nokia was thinking. Symbian^3 was supposed to have NFC built in right from the start, but typical Nokia processes and bureaucracy meant schedules slipped and the awesome long awaited feature was pushed back to Symbian^4. Earlier this year Anssi Vanjoki himself, the guy who practically invented what Nokia is today and decided to leave the company after he wasn’t made CEO, was quoted as saying that all smartphones coming out of Nokia in 2011 will have NFC .

SCOTTEVEST vs. Delta Sky: The EXCLUSIVE Truth Behind the Contradicting Accounts

The media, both traditional press and bloggers, clearly have their share of journalistic work to do; many writers and reporters do this job admirably. Sometimes, in fact far too often for my taste, the facts get twisted and turned in such a way as to make a story more compelling or salacious than it would otherwise be; to compound matters, headlines are generally worded in such a way as to draw readers into the story. Sometimes neither is necessary, and sometimes both can be a bit misleading

iPhone Game Review: Virtual City

asd The game SimCity came out in 1989, but its presence is still felt in every corner of the gaming industry. From new incarnations on consoles and PDAs and phones to new versions for PC and other platforms to influenced games for a variety of platforms, it is clear that Will Wright had SOMETHING right! The iPhone and iPad have been home to a number of games in this style, and I have just found my new favorite – Virtual City from G5 Entertainment! The Hype: Build a city of your dream – a residential paradise or an industrial center. Build dwelling houses and industrial buildings. Produce goods and deliver them to the shopping malls. Setup mass-transit system to take your citizens to places like parks, cinemas and stadiums.

Yahoo Messenger 2.0 for iPhone hits App store, brings video calling over 3G

While a new update to the Yahoo Messenger app on the iPhone would be eventful in and of itself, the latest version brings a very special gift — video calling over 3G, and not just phone to phone, but phone to computer or vice versa. Unfortunately in our quick tests, video calling seems to be buggy, not reliable, and above all, pretty low in the quality department when we do manage to get it working. In addition to video calls, the newly updated Yahoo Messenger brings free voice calls to other Yahoo Messenger friends, supports background multitasking, and more

Root Most Android Smartphones Including Froyo by SuperOneClick: Video

Apparently there a new super-root method that’s hit the net called SuperOneClick that can just about root any Android device out there in smartphone space, including those running Android 2.2 Froyo . According to an article over on Gizmodo by Brian Barrett and by way of the guys over at XDA-developers , there still isn’t a complete list of Android devices SuperOneClick can root but apparently to start off it will root the Samsung Captivate , Motorola Droid and Nexus One. Apparently SuperOneClick also enables the user to side load applications onto handsets such as the HTC Aria and as you probably know AT&T placed a restriction on doing that, but not with SuperOneClick. Word is though SuperOneClick is currently only for Windows, but should be pushed over to Linux and Mac in the not too distant future. However caution is required when opting to use SuperOneClick to root your Android smartphone as it doesn’t carry an unroot button as yet.
