Review: Cat Physics for iPhone
If you’re a follower of Donut Games like I am, you were probably excited to see that Cat Physics was released to the Appstore. From Rat on the Run to Comet Racer , the iPhone games that Donut Games release can always be counted on for some quick fun. It seems that one of the main focuses of Donut Games’ development is that the games have to be suited to being played in a mobile environment. If you only have 2 minutes to play a game while you’re on the bus, you’ll be safe in assuming that it will be enough time to finish one of the levels in a Donut game.

iOS 4 GM candidate already jailbroken
Want to know what was not found within the GM release candidate of iOS 4 ? Patched vulnerabilities which make jailbreaking an iPhone painfully simple. msftguy, a man known as a bit of a fixer-upper in the jailbreaking scene, has released a custom bundle for PwnageTool that allows anyone to jailbreak their iPhone 3Gs with the iOS 4 GM candidate. What’s more, the jailbreak preserves the baseband so it’s possible to unlock your iPhone right after freeing it from Apple’s shackles. If you’ve got an iPhone 3GS and have a means of getting the GM release candidate — not to mention know exactly what you’re doing — jump the bump and hit up the read file. For everyone else, we’ve got a short and sweet YouTube video of the jailbreak in action.

iPhone 4, iPad and Samsung Wave apparently share the same CPU core
Back in January, when Apple announced the iPad , the Cupertino company has also introduced a new 1GHz “Apple A4 chip.” The A4 chip is also included in the just-announced iPhone 4 , and Steve Jobs made quite a big deal out of this, saying the chip is designed by Apple’s own team. That may be true, but Canada-based research firm UBM TechInsights has it that said A4 chip “features the same 1 GHz ARM CORTEX A8 core” that powers the Wave S8500 – namely the S5PC110A01 application processor (manufactured by Samsung)

Jane Lynch On The iPhone 4 and Singapore’s Underground Pleasure Lairs
Click To Enlarge The “I’m a Mac” ad spoofs are a bit tired, I mean, even Apple isn’t doing them anymore. Still, Jane Lynch is always worth watching. In this video from take180 she represents “PC”, or more specifically, a PC with loads of files featuring underground porn from Singapore with 3rd nipples, caning and crotch bombs. Apple Modifies iOS Developer Terms (Again) To Allow “Limited” Analytics Collection
After creating a stir of controversy following a change to its developer agreement, Apple today announced another change aimed at calming down those who felt the previous terms were unfair. The company has again modified the relevant portion of its developer agreement, Section 3.3.9, to at least partially open the door to limited data collection for analytics purposes, saying “If you compare and contrast with Apple’s earlier version, you’ll see the message is clear: It’s OK to collect user data to help sell ads — though you will need to get their permission to do so.” The new terms require that any analytics company receiving data must be an “independent advertising service provider whose primary business is serving mobile ads.” What that means is that an advertising service provider owned by or affiliated with a developer or distributor of mobile devices, mobile operating systems or development environments other than Apple would not qualify as independent

Mobile Advertising
Mobile advertising is generally a new technology and like all new technology its changing rapidly, nearly every day in fact. Until a few days ago, the biggest mobile advertising company in the world was AdMob Inc which has just been take over by Google. This will make it more difficult for Apple, who are also interested in this lucrative market with their iAds system to charge a higher price because they have competition now, strong competition.

Telus Price Increases: Caller Display, Call Forwarding, Five Favourite Numbers
Bringing themselves on par with Rogers, Telus has now increased the prices on a series of their services. This week, the company has increased pricing on the following standalone feature add-ons: Caller Display: $8.00/month (was $7) Call Forwarding: $3.00/month (was $2) Local Five Favorite Numbers (Talk/Text to five numbers): $15.00/month (was $10) Nationwide Five Favorite Numbers (Talk/Text to five numbers): $20.00/month (was $15) So why the change you ask? Well you could say because Rogers and Telus love playing tag with each other and when one company increases rates, the other follows. However, don’t you find it convenient with the new iPhone 4 coming out for Telus to increase prices? Lots of new customers coming, what a great way to make some extra revenue! (/sarcasm) Do note however that if you are an existing Telus customer and already have the previously listed features on your account, the price does not change for you.

iPhone 4 UK Price – 16GB £169, 32GB £249?
We already know how much the new iPhone 4 will cost in the US, $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for the 32GB model, but this price doesn’t include taxes which are different for each state in the US. We have contacted all of the three mobile phone networks in the UK who will be selling the iPhone 4 in the UK, but none of them would give us any pricing details, so we decided to work out for ourselves how much the iPhone is likely to retail for in the UK. The 16GB iPhone 4 retails for $199 in the US, if we use todays exchange rate this works out at about £138, but this price doesn’t include taxes, so if you add on the VAT to that you are looking at around £162, so we suspect that the 16GB iPhone 4 will retail for around £169 on a contract with either O2, Orange or Vodafone

Apple adds video calls to iPhone
Apple is taking a stab at video calling with the newest iteration of its smartphone, the iPhone 4. The new iPhone 4 will be able to make “Face Time” video calls to other iPhone 4 users through two cameras mounted on either side of the device, chief executive Steve Jobs said during a developers conference in San Francisco on Monday. The feature will only be available over a Wi-Fi internet connection this year, while the company works with wireless carriers to make it run over 3G networks, he added. “We’re really happy with this,” he said. “This is one of the moments that reminds us of why we do what we do.” Video calling has been tried by a number of phone manufacturers and wireless carriers around the world, including Rogers in 2007, but most efforts were abandoned after meeting with lukewarm reception from consumers.

Where to find iPhone 4 screenshots?
Engadget has posted a number of photos of the iPhone 4, as well as a video showing the new FaceTime video calling feature in action – click here for all those screenshots . Some takeaways about the device: As we said, it’s shockingly thin. The screen is truly outrageous — you basically cannot see pixels on it. We’re not being hyperbolic when we say it’s easily the best looking mobile phone screen we’ve ever laid eyes on. The build quality is really solid.
