AdMob CEO responds to Apple’s new advertising rules: ‘not in the best interests of users or developers’ (update: Greystripe responds)
We had a pretty good idea what Google and its AdMob division would think of Apple’s new rules on outside advertising companies collecting analytics, but AdMob CEO Omar Hamoui has now spelled it out himself.

Reports have just surfaced that say Best Buy too will be getting the device with stock numbers lingering right around 45. The demand for the iPhone 4 is sure to be massive so if you’re planning on getting one (I know I am) be sure to get a pre-order in on June 15th with a retailer of your chooser. Luckily, Apple is offering shipping for the iPhone 4 which means you’ll be able to get the device right on June 24th without having to deal with all of the long lines and other inconveniences.

Destroy9 for iPhone and iPod Touch free for one day
For those who like the real-time strategy games might enjoy Destroy9. It is available for free for the iPhone and iPod Touch until June 10, so that means you have one day to this writing. This app has 3D graphics, online leaderboards, and an original soundtrack by Akinatz. I’m not certain what this game is about, except a “Great Retake the Earth”. I’m also not certain why it is called Destroy9

Analyst: iPhone 4, Samsung ‘Wave’ use same chip
An analyst research note Tuesday shed more light on what makes Apple’s iPhone 4 tick, noting that the recently released Samsung Wave S8500 smartphone uses the same central processing unit, or CPU, as the iPhone 4. The Apple A4 chip used in both the iPad and iPhone 4 is manufactured by Samsung, which has a longstanding “foundry” (chip manufacturing) relationship with Apple. On Tuesday, UBM TechInsights added some color to the dynamics of the Apple-Samsung collaboration by claiming that the Samsung Wave S8500 smartphone uses the same 1GHz core as the iPad and, by extension, the iPhone 4–which also uses the A4 processor. In general, this type of processor is referred to as an application processor and is one part of the overall design called a system-on-a-chip or SOC

Color Puzzle 3D – It’s Not Your Average Cube Puzzle
Color Puzzle 3D is a three dimensional, multifacited puzzle block solved by switching and rotating the faces of cubes until all the colors are matched up together. Loosely likened to the famous Rubik’s Cube, Color Puzzle 3D instead features tiles with four triangular color segments per cube face, which can be switched out with another tile anywhere on the object or rotated in position 90 degrees at a time.

Samsung Mobile has something going down on June 29
With all the news about the iPhone 4 and its new “Retina Display”, it is easy to forget the Samsung Galaxy S and its shockingly clear AMOLED display that I saw at CTIA last March . As you can see from this ad here, Samsung is promising some “next generation in Android smart phones”. I’m going to guess that the release date for the Galaxy S will be announced here, which is rumored to be July 21 from T-Mobile. Of course, there is always room for surprises

SNES on the iPad with iPhone as controller
Okay, this might be the coolest thing that I am going to see all day. It is essentially the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) running on an emulator, with an iPhone used as the controller. This application is built on ZodTTD’s emulator, the man who gave us the Playstation Emulator for Android devices . Yeah, apparently this is “coming soon” from Cydia . In order to get it, both your iPhone and iPad will need to be jailbroken

twilight skins for gadgets surface: the end is nigh
I am a big fan of Star Wars , but you won’t catch me sporting Darth Vader on my notebook or iPhone. I have a friend that has a Darth Vader hoodie – he’s 30. I mock him openly. If you are maybe 14 you can get away with sporting a shirt that says Team Edward or has Darth Vader, once you have a 2 in front of your age, it’s time to look for more grown up things for decorating your gear than Twilight characters by most accounts.

AdMob Founder Omar Hamoui Responds To Apple’s Updated iPhone Developer Terms
It was only a matter of time before AdMob and others in the mobile advertising game responded to Apple’s updated developer terms which effectively prohibit app developers from using third-parties such as AdMob and Google’s advertising solutions on the iPhone. The new terms have left many in the industry scratching their head as to why Apple would make such a blatant anti-competitive move, and the responses are starting to come forward.

T-Mobile adds to Iphone 4 mystery
MYSTERY SURROUNDS the 24 June launch of the Iphone 4 in the UK and T-Mobile’s announcement that it will offer Apple’s latest shiny toy fails to dispel it. O2, Orange and Vodafone have announced they will offer the smaller version of the Ipad with mobile phone functions from 24 June but have not given any contract details despite the big date being but 15 days away. And T-Mobile has simply said in a statement that details of prices and tariffs will be announced “in due course”. Clearly the hard sell approach. “T-Mobile UK will launch iPhone 4…in the coming weeks,” the company said with much enthusiasm.

One Hundred Million is the Magic Number
At the Apple worldwide developer’s conference , Steve Jobs talked about a lot of numbers at onstage. Apple talked about the 29% US market share of the smart phone market that the iPhone has achieved. Apple discussed the 58% market share of mobile Web browsing that it now has. Apple even talked about their 22% marketshare in e-books. The most important number, however, that Apple talked about so was 100 million.

Apple defends against Google with its new iPhone 4
When Apple was presenting the first iPhone in January 2007, the head of Google, Eric Schmidt, was in the audience at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, as a member of the supervisory board of Apple. Just three years later, the former ally of Apple is now its main competitor, even ahead of Microsoft or Nokia, thanks to a whole army of smartphones that want to conquer the market with Google’s operating system, Android. To halt that progress, Apple on Monday introduced the new iPhone 4, which goes on sale June 24 in the U.S., France, Germany, Japan and the UK for $ 199 (167 euros) with a two-year contract. The new phone is faster than its predecessors, the battery lasts longer, is thinner and shines with a new screen where texts are read as if they were printed

iOS4 leaks to iPhone 3GS & 3G owners; hack enables 3G multitasking
Keen to get iOS4 on your iPhone before Apple officially release it on July 21st ? Turns out, with the iOS4 Golden Master (GM) release in the wild – which Apple pushed out to developers after Monday’s WWDC keynote – those of us with iPhone 3G or 3GS handsets can now take advantage of the new functionality, and thanks to a little hacking you can also jailbreak an iOS4-running iPhone 3G and enable the custom wallpapers and multitasking Apple don’t want you to have. Pixelated Geek run through all the instructions, and it looks like a relatively straightforward process getting iOS4 onto your device.

iPhone 4 cases already in the works – pictures of the options
The phone has barely been announced but already the cases are coming off the production lines. Because the dimensions have changed, fitted iPhone cases made for the 3G or 3Gs won’t work on the iPhone 4, though looser, pouchy ones…

If you’re champing at the bit to try out iOS 4, the iPhone’s next operating system, and don’t mind taking risks with your iPhone, you’re in luck. Several blogs are claiming you can try it out now. Apple recently released the near final version of iOS 4 to developers known as the gold master build. After Apple’s release it didn’t take long before iOS 4 was leaked online and available for anyone to download.
