Nokia E72 Loses Vodafone Exclusivity – E72 Now on Orange

The Nokia E72 was first launched as a network exclusive by Vodafone but today that exclusivity has come to an end with this Qwerty Nokia phone being released on Orange. Famed for looking more like a Blackberry phone than a Nokia and even dubbed the ‘NokiaBerry’ the Nokia E72 is a fast communication orientated phone,

Review: Remembory, an iPhone app for toddlers

As a former high school math teacher, and now professional developer for teachers, I knew that today’s learners – with access to constant information – were different. Today’s “digital learner*” is exposed to ongoing media, and the iPhone is the digital “butler” of games, infowhelm*, and 24/7 connectivity. The iPhone captures the attention not only of my 6-year-old son but also now my 2-year-old. Of course as an educator, my primary focus is on educational, yet captivating, experiences for them both.

Ethical malware argument raises eyebrows

The issue of “ethical malware” has raised its ugly head this week in the blogosphere, sparking heated discussions and soapbox speeches everywhere. As reported this week in LinuxInsider, a lengthy Slashdot discussion was sparked when a participant wrote, “I was fed up with the general consensus that Linux is oh-so-secure and has no malware. After a week of work, I finished a package of malware for Unix/Linux

Playboy Goes Mobile With iPhone App

It’s not what you would expect from men’s entertainment magazine, Playboy. The iconic publication is finally dangling its feet into mobile waters with a new iPhone application that is subtle if not downright boring – at least in terms of the substantially more controversial, risque content common to the magazine itself. Likely aware that pushing the envelop would mean a rejection from Apple, Playboy Enterprises International released its first official Playboy app with little content to raise eyebrows

LaCie Rikiki is Smallest USB Hard Drive Yet

Oh, LaCie why do you tease us so with your compact sexy drives. We almost just want to put them out for show instead of using them. The LaCie Rikiki (which is like the most awesome name – I’m sure I’ve heard “Rikiki” in a song while drunk) means tiny in french, but its sure not tiny in storage capacity, as it can hold up to 640GB. Encased in a brushed aluminum case, it is sophisticated yet tough enough to withstand the elements. The LaCie Rikiki will work on a PC or Mac and comes with Backup Assistant in addition to USB Boost software to increase performance.

TELUS drops price of BlackBerry Tour 9630, Storm 9530 and Bold 9700

Just after Bell dropped the price of their BlackBerry Bold 9700 to $199, it seems TELUS decided to take a similar path by clearing out some older models, such as the Storm 9530, and lowering the three year contract price on popular models such as Bold 9700 and Tour 9630. New customers (or eligible existing customers) can pick up the Tour 9630 for $49 (was $150), Storm 9530 for $0 (was $99) or the HSPA+ Bold 9700 for $199 (was $249). This is a great time to take advantage of a new BlackBerry on TELUS’ 3G networks. Oh and in you were wondering.

Palm sends out CES 2010 invites

Last year was eventful for the boys in Orange – it marked the first time that they managed to ship a new product based on a new operating system developed by their own. Engadget Mobile now found the following invite in their mailbox: I personally expect this to be little more than a “we best” event, with next to no real product introductions except for a new carrier partners. Anyone want to bet against me?

Sprint Announced 4G Desktop Modem CPEi25150

Sprint , the struggling carrier that acquired Nextel back in 2005, today announced the Motorola CPEi25150 4G Desktop Modem, that provide in-home wireless internet for customers through Sprint’s 4G WiMAX services. According to Sprint, its 4G WiMAX supports up to 6Mbps downstream and is 10 times faster than 3G services provided by competitors, such as AT&T Wireless , and Verizon Wireless . Since Sprint’s WiMAX services locations are limited, it can be used for mobile professionals.

Great, not *another* ridiculously sexy iPhone app from Tapbots..

First it was Weightbot (which I’ve never used), then Converbot (which I used extensively ), and now there’s Pastebot . It’s a copy and paste manager for your iPhone with a premise that’s comparable to Evernote. Pick up little things on your iPhone that you like and throw them into Pastebot and they’ll be saved as a little clipping. You can go back into the app later on to copy the clipping again, or you can quickly filter something and send it out in an e-mail or straight to your Mac (via free Pastebot Sync software)

Google’s Nexus One: Advertising, Marketing, and Disruption?

There’s a lot of buzz in the blogosphere about the upcoming Google Nexus One smartphone. While nothing is to be sure yet, rumors have it that the phone will appear on T-Mobile sometime soon, and that the phone may have more to do with advertising than competing Android models. The FTC approved the Nexus One about 15 hours ago, so we can at least be sure it’s not all rumor at this point

Oracle Aims To Help Carriers Cash In On Mobile Advertising With New Platform

It’s always amazed me that carriers, who know more about mobile consumers than anyone, have been the slowest to adopt mobile marketing and advertising.  While there’s some undeniable barriers carriers must overcome, third-party providers are already doing their part to help in the cause. Oracle, for example, recently launched a new platform aimed squarely at wireless carriers to help them get on the mobile advertising bandwagon without being left in the dust by competitors and other mobile ad startups that are gaining momentum left and right

Geek Review: SuperQWERTY BlackBerry Shortcut Application

If you are like me, you have a wide variety of BlackBerry applications installed on your device. Not only is this a drain on the available system resources but it can also become tedious to launch each one let alone remember what apps you have. To combat this confusion, many BlackBerry owners rely on shortcuts to access their most used apps. There are a number of predefined shortcuts which can be used to navigate to certain parts of your Berry and there are methods that can be used to assign apps to the convenience keys on your device

New Payment Tools Born of SK Telecom and Hana Deal?

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that South Korean operator SK Telecom is moving forward with a $343 million proposal to acquire a minority stake (49%) in Hana Financial Group’s credit card unit. If finalized, the partnership could engender a host of new and combined products fusing together both banking and telecom services. In recent months, SK Telecom, in fact, has been preparing for the forthcoming introduction of a “mobile credit card” that will allow subscribers to enact and complete transactions or similar purchases via a wireless device or through personal banking information. Evidently, the deal now on the table would focus on the ultimate goal of cultivating and promoting the “proliferation of mobile credit cards” and to develop futuristic, next-generation payment models and mechanisms.

Steampunk and Circuit Board Menorahs for 2009

Sure, the Christmas tree gets all the attention around this time of year, but what about the Menorah? These super cool Menorahs will make your dreidal drool. Last year we spotted the LED Motherboard Menorah but these latest two that we have unearthed, would pretty much put that one to shame.  The Steampunk Menorah from Klockwerks is probably the most badass Menorah I have ever laid my eyes upon. Even if you aren’t Jewish this would be damn cool to have in your home! Then there is the handmade Menorah from  Etsy that was conceived from a recycled circuit board from the 80’s. So not only is it a religious item – it’s green too! The RECYCLED Circuit Board from Etsy retails for $69, but sadly we can’t find any pricing info on the Steampunk Menorah from Klockwerks – damn!

Update Alert: BerryWeather Updated to v2.0.63

I apologize for being a few days  late with this one, but I wanted to inform our readers and be sure you’re  aware that BerryWeather has been updated to the new version. If you haven’t tried BerryWeather, it’s available in the BlackBerry Sync Store, and is my favorite weather application out there. What’s new in BerryWeather? A fix for ClassCastException  which some users experienced. A new option to hide location/conditions for the homescreen wallpaper
