Does the Removal of Single Instance Storage Mean Less Efficient Exchange Servers?
The Register published an article describing the removal of Single Instance Storage (SIS) from the Exchange Server 2010 database engine. The comments on the article were largely critical of the change, declaring it a backward step in Exchange storage efficiency. Before I discuss this further it helps to go back in time a little and understand what SIS is and how it came to be a part of Exchange Server. Exchange Server Single Instance Storage The essence of SIS is the storage of a single copy of data that is shared among different users or computers. In the case of Exchange Server this meant a single copy of an email or file attachment is kept in the mailbox database, and then any user who received that item accesses it via a pointer to that one single instance of the item. SIS was introduced in the Exchange Server product line in version 4.0 back in 1996. Back then disk storage was very expensive compared to today’s prices. Disks were much larger in physical size, smaller in capacity, and slower in performance. Under those conditions SIS made a lot of sense to reduce the overall size of mailbox databases

PC vs Mac Laptop Decal Because I’m a Mac and He’s a PC
As much as I love my Macs, I happen to think that the “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” commercials are obnoxious and I don’t like how they make the PC out to be a fool. Placing that gripe aside, this PC vs Mac MacBook Pro Laptop MacJac, vinyl sticker decal is actually pretty neat. On the left you have Mr. PC dude with a “He’s a PC” caption on top of him, and on the right you have Justin Long with the “I’m a Mac” caption on top of him. So despite how irritating those commercials might be, this is one laptop decal that really makes a statement.

Skies of Glory released for iPhone – another great aerial shooter has come to the App Store!
the game features kill updates reminiscent of Unreal Tournament Earlier today I decided to take a break and give the newly released Skies of Glory a try. It’s a sorta-free WW2 aerial shooter that includes a 10-mission campaign, as well as local and global multiplayer. The catch is that the multiplayer aspect is only free for a little while, and you’ll have to pay $2 to access it after that (and I’m not completely sure that’s a one-time cost).

More impressions of Pastebot 1.0 for iPhone
Pastebot 1.0 is a clicking, beeping, and glowing delight to behold. It’s ridiculously fast at throwing pictures and text from my Mac to the iPhone, and it captures my iPhone clipboard very well (doesn’t work when backgrounded, though). I’d say it’s Tapbots’ best app to date – and that’s a real achievement, since it’s also the most powerful and versatile little bot they’ve released on the App Store.

Windows Mobile 7 Is Delayed Till Late 2010
As Android, iPhone , and BlackBerry are trying to dominate the Smartphone market, the software giant, Microsoft, decided to push back the release date of Windows Mobile 7, the so called Microsoft’s answer to iPhone touch screen technology. It has been almost 3 years since Apple first released iPhone back in 2007, and Microsoft still can’t make a multi-touch Mobile OS until now! This is just a big shame for Microsoft.
