Win the Lenovo IdeaPad Z560 Laptop with Dolby Advanced Audio

According to research by Dolby Laboratories , a shift is happening in how Americans prefer to experience entertainment, with approximately 60% of surveyed college students now using their PCs, and not televisions, most for entertainment. The majority of students also believe PCs deliver the best overall entertainment experience and as a result, they expect higher quality audio to accompany the graphics quality they are getting on their screens. The survey also found that 77% like to listen to music using their PC and 70% like to watch video using their PC. This survey is no surprise to us since it seems like many people nowadays are replacing the TVs in their home with entertainment driven laptops.

Nokia C6 Review: The good, the bad and the smart

Introduction Ever since it’s release under the Nokia’s Cseries branding, the Nokia C6 was bound to attract some attention. And for a good reason. The budget price range is quite unusual for what it offers in return: attractive design, a touchscreen enforced with a slide-out qwerty keyboard and all the connectivity you can eat, including voice guided GPS navigation. With a few caveats, it’s not difficult to spot the simple yet beautiful concept behind the  Nokia C6 – you get what you see, without going into overdrive with expenses.

Rethinking Device Convergence–The Video Experience

If one is to consider using a single mobile device for all their multimedia needs, serious consideration has to be paid to the capabilities of the device for video purposes. In my first article on my decision to give mobile device convergence a serious try for the first time in many years, I listed video viewing as a key reason for carrying and using a dedicated portable media player (a Zune HD)

AT&T Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) review

The Galaxy S, when announced, had a full 4 hours to bask in the limelight of this year’s CTIA in Las Vegas before Sprint outshone it with the HTC EVO 4G, the country’s very first 4G phone of any kind. While the EVO’s specs were clearly more breathtaking, the Galaxy S still had nothing to cry about.

Turn your Apple iDevice Into a Universal Remote with the RedEye Mini

As Joel Evans from the Mobile Gadgeteer explains, “when it comes to Apple and its proprietary dock connector, many developers have been left out in the cold when it comes to wanting to create the perfect add-on for the iPhone or iPod touch.” But of course, no enterprising inventor is going to let a proprietary dock get in their way when there is another perfectly good non-proprietary dock available on every Apple iPod, touch, iPhone and iPad. Hello RedEye Mini … the headphone jack! Ahhhhhh! So what’s a RedEye Mini?

Mobile Edge EVO Backpack Review and Giveaway!

I normally hate traveling for work; juggling a computer, work files, ebook reader, etc. is a pain. However, now that I’ve been trying the Mobile Edge Evo Backpack for a few weeks, I wish I traveled more often so I could use a bag like this! My first impression of the Evo backpack was that it was a complete beast of a bag. It seemed physically large, but when I put it on it didn’t feel as big

OtterBox Will Defend Your iPhone 4 From Reception Issues … Among Other Things

Some people’s devices never have to brave anything worse than a little bit of travel time as they are transported from the house to the car to the building their owner works in; other devices get put in precarious situations every day — whether it be from danger from dropping, crushing, or simply dust and grit damaging the finish.

Video: Nokia N8 Speaker Test

Around a month to go for the rumoured Nokia N8 August 25th release. You’ve waited ever so patiently (since end of Not June, Not May, but APRIL!) Here’s yet another Nokia N8 video, but this time “testing” out the N8′s loudspeaker – which is possibly louder even than the very loud 5800. (Would be nice to have some comparisons to better gauge the speakers against something else) You’ll want to hit 720p for better audio quality, although we are limited by the camera’s recording of the sound and your speakers/headphones’ reproduction of that sound. via uptodateksa2 Something I noticed in another Nokia N8 hands on (was up minutes ago but now removed) When scrolling (e.g.

Nokia Siemens buys Motorola’s switching business for $1.2 billion

Motorola’s slow decline was halted, briefly, by the launch of the Droid line of phones. Now, however, it looks like the company’s money-making switching subsidiary is no longer going to be making money as it’s just been sold to Nokia Siemens for $1.2 billion. While the company still owns its own handset and set-top box operation, the switching side was Motorola’s bread and butter and now it may be going hungry. With the unit, Nokia Siemens gets 50 large customers like China Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon. Motorola will still own the iDEN “push-to-talk” system but has sold off their manufacturing systems for GSM, WiMax, and LTE switches.

Nokia Kinetic concept rises to the occasion

I dig concept phones. I like the way that designers can come up with ideas completely free from physical limitations, in order to inspire engineers to do new things… or something like that. My point is that I like fresh thinking, and new (and better) ways of doing things. Like Jeremy Innes-Hopkins’ Nokia Kinetic concept . The main idea behind the phone is a new way to receive notifications when the phone is sitting on your desk.

Livescribe Echo Smartpen Review

The new Echo Smartpen improves on the previous generation of Livescribe products with a sleek ergonomic design that features a rubberized grip and anti-roll surface, it’s also available with the biggest capacity ever – 8GB! Livescribe has also made charging the device more convenient, with a micro-USB connector, and the Echo now has a 3.5mm audio jack so that users can use whatever headphones they’d like with it. But I’ll be honest, I had my doubts about a pen that needs to be charged. But, Wow.
