DACport – A High-fidelity USB Headphone Amplifier

DACport has a niche USB sound system that promises to bring increased music fidelity to your computer as well as more volume. Digital recordings that are compressed to popular formats like MP3 and OGG do suffer some of the side effects of being shrunk down; those with an ear for audio miss the fine details removed from their originals. The DACport from CEntrance packs a 24-bit DAC that can improve and restore quality back to your down-sampled compressed digital recordings. Their AdaptiWave technology requires no drivers or software all the work is done inside the hot-dog sized adapter

The Apple iPad: A First Look

There has been a lot of buzz around the Apple Tablet these past few months, mainly because the people at Apple kept all the info uber exclusive. Rumors and speculation bred rampantly over forums and blogs, nothing more than mere hearsay because nothing official had been released from the Apple camp… that is until today. At an Apple product event, it was announced the rumored Apple tablet, called the iPad, does in fact exist and is to be expected in stores by July 2010. It will come with its very own app store and over 1,400 apps

Motorola Zeppelin to Show up at Mobile World Congress?

Motorola ( NYSE: MOT )’s next Android, code-named Zeppelin, may be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress next month in Barcelona. The Zeppelin package includes a 3.1” HVGA display, Wi-Fi, GPS, HDMI out, 3.5mm headphone jack, and 5 megapixel camera with flash, all surrounding a juicy core of Android, wrapped in a thick layer of motoblur. This picture looks distinctly different than what we saw of the Zeppelin in China , but either there will be some casing changes depending on where it’s launching, or Moto’s gone with a new look since those initial models. MWC is obviously focused on European wireless, but there were rumours that the Zeppelin would be coming to the U.S. , and could be a nice option for those who were looking for something a little smoother than the droid .

The iPad weights in only 1.5 pounds, which is currently lighter than any netbook, and comes in at 0.5 inches thin. The device also includes a 9.7-inch IPS display (looks 4:3?) .

Apple tablet casing leaks?

There’s a little over an hour until Apple’s Steve Jobs takes to the stage to – we’re presuming – announce the new Apple tablet , but to tide you over how about some purported leaked images of the slate’s casing.  Briefly showing up on a Chinese messageboard, and then promptly deleted, these shots show an indecently thin chassis together with several cut-outs and notches presumably for charging, buttons and headphones. Judging by one of the photos – which shows four of the casings along with a pretty intimidating robot arm – the shots were taken during wireless radiation testing.  The tablet is presumed to have an internal 3G connection – perhaps even support for both Verizon and AT&T – so that certainly makes sense. Earlier on today shots of the front of the tablet – including the device powered on – were seemingly leaked

Urbanears Plattan review

The Plattan headphones from new kid on the block Urbanears don’t always produce the clearest audio, but they look stylish, are fairly affordable and seem durable. If you mainly listen to hip-hop and want headphones with plenty of bass, volume and style, the Plattans could be a suitable option

thomson technicolor pommes: mystery iptv tablet has nothing to do with apple

While I was buzzing about over on the FCC website today, I came across this mysterious new device from France’s Thomson and Technicolor called the PoMMeS. The funny thing is that the word “pomme” is the French word for “apple”, so in a way, you are looking at the first pics of an apple tablet. The gadget is a wireless multimedia playback device, and according to the PoMMeS user manual , it’s designed to proved access to TV programs, VOIP video calling, as well as web browsing and other online services. The 8-inch, 800 x 480 LCD touchscreen includes a stylus, so I’m not sure if you can use your fingertips to control it or not
