So What’s Up With Motorola’s Motoblur?
Just yesterday, Motorola introduced the DEVOUR (yes, in all caps) to the cell-toting masses. It’s the first phone to be released running the unique Android-powered Motoblur technology. What’s Motoblur, you ask? Well, Motoblur syncs and feeds your personal and work emails, texts, Facebook, Myspace, and Twitter updates from you and those you follow to your phone’s home screen without having to log into different accounts, or open up any webpages or apps. It’s all right there on the main screen.

Major infrastucture supplier calls it: LTE over WiMAX
If you’re Clearwire or Sprint right now, the last thing you want to hear is one of the world’s major suppliers of wireless infrastructure badmouthing the very technology that underpins your next-gen network — so we imagine there’s some groaning in the hallways and boardrooms of the world’s WiMAX carriers today. Why? Alcatel-Lucent’s COO of its wireless business, Patrick Plas, has pulled no punches in a statement this week that the firm is “not putting a lot of effort into [WiMAX] any longer” after noticing that there’s “a clear direction taken by the industry towards LTE .” Of course, it doesn’t take an analyst to notice that Europe, Asia, and virtually every carrier in the Americas have all taken on a decidedly pro-LTE slant in the past couple years, and these guys are just following the money — which in turn makes it harder (and more expensive) for the handful of WiMAX proponents with deployed networks to build out and stay technologically current

AAXA L1 laser pico-projector: focus-free but madly expensive
Pico-projector company AAXA have outed their latest model , and the L1 carves a niche for itself by using LCoS laser technology rather than the more usual DLP. The AAXA L1 is capable of projecting up to a 20-lumens 50-inch picture at 800 x 600 resolution, and thanks to the lasers it’s all focus-free: no frustrating focus wheel to twiddle, just point and go. In fact it can even project clearly onto curved surfaces. There’s also an onboard media player, with support for pictures, video and still images, either stored on the 160MB of internal storage or on a USB drive; AAXA throw a 2GB stick in the box

Ovi Maps Navigation Downloaded 1 Million Times In First Week

The five most popular phones to get the service are the Nokia N97, N97 Mini, Nokia E72, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and the new Nokia 5230 – even more impressive considering the N97 was a latecomer to the upgrade party. Within a matter of days there is an installed base of more than 1 million active users all potentially hungry for new and innovative location-aware apps. When we announced free walk & drive navigation we knew it would be a game-changer

ATI Radeon HD 5450 focuses on multimedia features, neglects gaming
It’s rare to see a rumor — hell, even a roadmap — pinpoint the timing of new releases quite so accurately, but our earlier report of ATI refreshing the middle and lower parts of its lineup turned out to be bang on. Following in the footsteps of the HD 5670 , we have the Radeon HD 5450, which drags the entry price for DirectX 11 and Eyefinity multi-monitor support all the way down to $50.

Hydrogen Fuel Cell Vehicles Start Small With R/C Cars
By Evan Ackerman In what may be (but probably isn’t) a sign of things to come, Horizon Fuel Cell Technologies has released a miniature hydrogen fuel cell power system designed specifically for R/C cars. It’s a complete power system for higher end hobby cars, and optionally comes with an entire solar powered fuel infrastructure that uses solar or wind power to turn water into hydrogen, which gets stored in special solid state cartridges. So, it’s sort of like this thing , except in a kit that can be installed on your own R/C car (or anything else). There aren’t too many specs on performance (beyond a capacity of 12Wh, or 3-4 times the endurance of conventional batteries), but since all a hydrogen fuel cell does is create electricity, it’s not going to be like a nitro car, but it should perform just about the same as any battery powered system, and it looks like it does: A hydrogen powered R/C car might be way less convenient than gas or batteries, but it is the future, and a microcosm of the whole hydrogen fuel situation in normal size cars , so at least you can feel good about that. Or something.

THQ CEO calls PS3 Motion Controller ‘Arc’ throughout investor call
Even after all this time Sony’s hand-held wand bent on bringing some of that interactive Wii game play to the PS3 still doesn’t have a name. Announced at E3 , Sony as recently as January 20th was still calling its PS3 Motion Controller, well, “Motion Controller” in its official communications with a footnote that the name was still tentative. Of course, we’ve heard whispers that it’ll be called Arc — and we’re not alone
