Remote control for a personal computer
Need remote access to your computer once in a while, but don’t want to leave it on and wasting power the rest of the time? Then you might want to check out this Remote PC Startup System by MAKE subscriber Blake Foster. He used an Arduino, Ethernet shield, and homebrew relay board to add a internet-enabled switch to be able to turn his computer on from anywhere he has Internet connection. He estimates that the savings on his power bill will pay for the hardware cost in about 3 months.

NVIDIA launches sub-$80 GeForce GT 430 for single-slot cooler enthusiasts
The graphics card that doesn’t require a fridge-sized cooler is turning into something of a rarity nowadays, but we doubt the market for quiet, efficient, and halfway-decent GPUs is ever going to disappear completely. NVIDIA is fleshing out its Fermi family today with a creature that aspires to such epithets, the 96 CUDA core-equipped GT 430

Uh, well not really. But if you want a hard drive that LOOKS like a Nintendo Wii, have I got something for you. The guys over at schlock-shop DealExtreme have gotten their hands on these hard drive enclosures that look like a miniature black Wii. It’s actually called W!! (which looks a whole lot like Wii with the ‘i’s upsidedown.) It’ll house any 2.5″ SATA hard drive, and provides a USB 2.0 interface for connecting your drive to your PC, Mac or Linux machine.

The Windows Phone 7 Launch: Our Take
Microsoft has finally launched its all-in bid to revive its flagging mobile business. We’ve gotten our hands on the HD7 Pro , the Dell Venue (known previously as the Lightning ), and the rest of the US launch lineup . It’s arguable that they’ve spread their brand too thinly with such a long list of offerings, but it may also be a sign of health for the platform that so many manufacturers have gotten behind it. Sure, we’ve been covering handsets, apps, and other aspects of Windows Phone 7 for half a year now, but the official launch warrants further collective judgment. Here are our thoughts, in convenient capsule form.

Shear feedback GPS navigation tells your fingers where to go, you just have to follow (video)
Keeping your eyes on the road gets ever more difficult with ever-bigger, ever-brighter GPS navigation units hitting retail. This product of University of Utah research could obsolete them entirely by tickling your fingers. It’s called “shear feedback,” effectively stretching the skin on your fingertip to tell you which way to go, achieved via a pair of old Thinkpad trackpoints, which were always too coarse a grit for our delicate tastes. The nub moves left or right to tell you where to go, and in a test distracted drivers were 24 percent more likely to follow directions through their digits than when told by cold, uncaring GPS lady

iPhone Game Review: Virtual City
asd The game SimCity came out in 1989, but its presence is still felt in every corner of the gaming industry. From new incarnations on consoles and PDAs and phones to new versions for PC and other platforms to influenced games for a variety of platforms, it is clear that Will Wright had SOMETHING right! The iPhone and iPad have been home to a number of games in this style, and I have just found my new favorite – Virtual City from G5 Entertainment! The Hype: Build a city of your dream – a residential paradise or an industrial center. Build dwelling houses and industrial buildings. Produce goods and deliver them to the shopping malls. Setup mass-transit system to take your citizens to places like parks, cinemas and stadiums.

CupCake CNC build, part 11: Building the Plastruder & finishing up
Building the Plastruder isn’t too difficult, but it does take about two hours. I’m highlighting the general build process. You are going to want to follow the official directions carefully, double-checking everything. It’s not hard to build, but having a short, or other problem, can lead to disastrous results

Digital City 100: Comic Con costumes and the ultimate video game t-shirt collection
Unless we’ve miscounted somewhere along the way (a distinct possibility), this week marks the 100th episode of our little outpost on the information superhighway. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Digital City show if everything ran smoothly, so you shouldn’t be surprised to find that Scott has been called away on urgent business and is here only in spirit (plus, he sent a note). Standing in is CNET News reporter Greg Sandoval , who joins the discussion on Windows 7 phones and Google’s top-secret music cloud project — but is stunned into silence by our extreme nerd-out over the past weekend’s New York Comic Con . The rest of us, however, happily narrate our photo galleries from the show, showcasing the usual collections of costumed character and overpriced collectibles

Is This Gadget Real or Fake?
The Microsoft Kinect system hasn’t even launched yet , and it’s already getting a number of impressive games and accessories. One worth mentioning is this Game Boat peripheral – just hook up the Game Boat while playing Kinect Adventures and you’ll get fully immersed in the action. Fun idea, but is it real or fake? Take the quiz

Apple TV review (2010): 5 Things We Like
We know you’ve been waiting for our Apple TV review , and we’ve been playing with Apple’s second try at a home theater set top box for about ten days now, and figured it was time to report back with our thoughts. The thing is, it really is a lot of the same in terms of usability and interface. There aren’t many changes (yet!) to that side of things, despite things being very different under the hood. The new Apple TV is a lot smaller, and runs iOS 4 , and is priced at just $99. It’s centered around a focus on renting movies and TV shows rather than purchasing them.

Samsung X430 headed for Microsoft Stores with a crapware-free copy of Windows
We just got a quick look at a previously Korea-bound Samsung X430 laptop that Microsoft has tapped as a “Microsoft Store Exclusive.” It’s pretty good hardware, both inside and outside, for the price. Also, due to its Store-exclusive nature, Microsoft also put the promised “Microsoft Signature Image” on here, which means a copy of Windows 7 completely free of crapware and trialware, though Microsoft has put a good quantity of first party software that you’ll probably want like Windows Live, Bing Maps 3D, and Microsoft Security Essentials

Fighting With Hot Air: In Soviet Russia Army Tanks Blow Up You You Blow Up Tanks
Inflatable tanks were used in both world wars so this isn’t exactly new news but I’m posting it anyway with the hopes Russia sends me some free vodka for the good publicity. So, yeah — Russia has ordered a boatload of blow-up army vehicles at a cost of almost $3,200 per piece. Tell me — how much are you currently spending on assault rifles? Because I have a truckful of slingshots AND THEY ARE PRICED TO SELL, RUSKIES! The purchase has drawn sharp criticism from military analysts, who say the Kremlin should be spending its oil wealth on buying real military hardware rather than rubber copies. “Inflatable military hardware is most effective in conflict situations when there is a need to confuse the enemy,” the daily Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper argued on Tuesday.

Zune 4.7 in cahoots with Windows Phone 7, caught on camera
So, you can go and nab Zune 4.7 right this minute. Also, Microsoft is showing off Windows Phone 7 right now behind semi-closed doors (sorry, public). Can we bring these two beautiful stories together? Turns out we can, and we did. Now, if you’ve ever used a Zune before, this isn’t going to be that revelatory of an experience, but there are enough minor tweaks and one major one (the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace) that we thought were worth a quick video walkthrough

Dazu würde ein 1150mAh Akku folgen, ein TI OMAP 3600 Prozessor mit 1GHz Taktfrequenz und wahrscheinlich auch die Kombination aus Touchscreen-Display und QWERTZ-Tastatur.
