Why KIN and Windows Phone 7 Can Succeed – Getting User Experiences

It’s fortunate that we all have the ability as humans to grow, mature and learn from our mistakes and the mistakes of others. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the ability to adapt and learn. This fundamental principle not only applies to “macro” topics like culture; it applies to the little things as well.

Peeking into employee’s email can be no-no

Peeking into an employee’s Web mail accessed on a company computer during work hours can be illegal–at least in New Jersey, according to that state’s Supreme Court. In a 7-0 decision, the judicial panel upheld a lower court ruling that sanctioned a company for collecting email messages between an employee and her attorney stored on the employee’s company computer. “Finding that the policies undergirding the attorney-client privilege substantially outweigh the employer’s interest in enforcement of its unilaterally imposed regulation, we reject the employer’s claimed right to rummage through and retain the employee’s emails to her attorney,” the appellate court ruled in its decision upheld by the state’s high court.

How to Manage Service and Application Mailboxes in Exchange

Email is not just for people.  It is also used by other services, applications and devices for a multitude of communication scenarios. Some examples of this are applications that send email reports to users, such as enterprise backup software; devices that offer email capabilities, such as scan-to-email; and applications that receive and parse email messages, such as job ticketing systems. With these types of requirements it is very common for an Exchange Server environment to host a lot of non-user mailboxes.  In larger environments this can present some challenges.  Each mailbox requires a corresponding user account, which presents some security risks. And if not tracked and managed properly the number of mailboxes can grow and result in mailboxes that no one knows about or understands the actual purpose for.  This type of mismanagement will crop up at key times such as when migrating to a new Exchange Server, which makes planning and risk management difficult for the project team. With all of that in mind here are some tips for maintaining a well managed Exchange Server environment for service and application mailboxes

Impressions On WebOS

Since I’ve been using the Pre for over a week now, I’ve managed to get more and more familiar with WebOS and am enjoying it more and more. It combines many things found on today’s hottest mobile OS’ around – Android and iPhone OS. WebOS is highly underrated mainly due to the mediocre hardware it is being forced to run on, and the fact it’s creators Palm have done a poor job of distribution and made many mistakes when launching. There are various factors why Palm’s Pre and Pixi are not successful, but that doesn’t necessarily mean WebOS isn’t great to experience. Both iPhone and Android users will be arguing why WebOS is inferior to their respective OS’ but the fact is, WebOS has the best of both worlds and is all round more polished and the experience is very very impressive
