4G –would it really be helpful?

Although 4G technology is definitely better than 3G, consumers are not so enthusiastic about it. Matt Carter, president of Sprint’s 4G division, assures the market with this statement: “View it as the difference between watching regular TV and high-definition TV…Once you’ve experienced high-definition TV it’s hard to go back to standard TV.

Geo-Fencing, Location Privacy & Other Animals

P rivacy has been, is and will remain one of the most hotly debated issues within both the web and mobile domains for time to come. Wal-Mart slashes iPhone 3GS price to $97

So the iPhone 3G has been discontinued , and now Wal-Mart has gone and lowered the price of the iPhone 3GS down from $197 to $97 —a full $100 drop. The change gives credence to the rumor that Apple will be dropping the price of the iPhone 3GS to $99 with two-year contract, and that the 3GS will take the place of the 3G as the entry-level iPhone device. As we stated previously, we thought it would behoove Apple to keep the 3G around as the free with contract phone, then use the 3GS as the $99 device, and finally use the iPhone Pro as the flagship model

CardStar Saves Loyalty Cards on BlackBerry and Android

CardStar launched an app for iPhone last summer that allowed you to store all of your loyalty card info on your phone, knocking down the girth of your wallet considerably, and now it’s available on Android and BlackBerry ( NSDQ: RIMM ) handsets. By punching in your membership number, the app generates a barcode that vendors can then scan to get your points/Air Miles/discount/whatever.  Extra information, like account information, website, phone number, store locations, and support can also be included from the vendor side – Blockbuster, Best Buy, Delta, PetSmart, and Staples are just some of the chains that have hooked up with CardStar. Participating partners will also occasionally offer coupons and deals to customers who use the app – not a bad incentive at all! It sounds like an extremely useful (and simple) app with plenty of potential
