No surprises really, given HP purchased WebOS via its recent acquisition of Palm, but HP have confirmed the forthcoming launch of some new WebOS handsets in early 2011. Senior HP Vice President Eric Cador confirmed the forthcoming handset releases, which could be given an official airing at the CES Trade Show in Las Vegas. The Palm Pre has been a steady, if unspectacular handset, yet many devotees of the WebOS claim it is one of the best operating systems currently available for a mobile device. Cador is quoted as saying “You will see us coming early next year with new phones” without giving further detail on what form or features the new smartphones may offer. We shall keep watch with interest.
