Microsoft Arc Keyboard Review
Keyboard technology has been around a pretty long time. We’re not sure how long exactly, but if you are curious then you can always google it. When it comes to computer keyboards, there’s really not a whole lot of room for more innovation beyond adding more fancy buttons and shiny lights. At least, that’s what we thought before we were able to test out Microsoft’s new white Arc Keyboard .

Nokia C6 Review: The good, the bad and the smart
Introduction Ever since it’s release under the Nokia’s Cseries branding, the Nokia C6 was bound to attract some attention. And for a good reason. The budget price range is quite unusual for what it offers in return: attractive design, a touchscreen enforced with a slide-out qwerty keyboard and all the connectivity you can eat, including voice guided GPS navigation. With a few caveats, it’s not difficult to spot the simple yet beautiful concept behind the Nokia C6 – you get what you see, without going into overdrive with expenses.

How to choose a password according to Microsoft
Passwords are a necessary evil for system security, but they need not be as evil as some organizations require them to be. Even “trivial” passwords can be secure, if their system-wide use is policed. That’s the conclusion of a pair of Microsoft researchers and a Harvard computer science professor reached in a paper expected to to be presented at the Hot Topics in Security workshop to be held in Washington, D.C.

FCam adds RAW and HDR capture to Nokia N900
Mobile photography could get a shot in the arm thanks to the combined efforts of Stanford University researchers and Nokia Research, who have pushed a new open-source digital photography platform out the door. FCam – or “Frankencamera” – is initially available for the Nokia N900 , and unlocks high-end functionality like RAW image capture, full manual controls and low-light imagery through combining multiple shots of varying ISO and exposure settings. FCamera is an example camera application that uses FCam libraries and drivers. It is released in source code to serve as a starting point for programmers to create their own camera applications. Low-light Assistant helps in situations where there is not enough light to avoid the choice between a quick exposure that will look sharp, but dark and noisy, and a long exposure that will have enough light, but likely be blurry.

Motorola sues Huawei and several former employees for stealing wireless trade secrets
Man, if you thought the lawsuit action in the mobile space was crazy before, well, you ain’t seen nothing yet — Motorola just sued Huawei and over a dozen former employees for conspiring to steal its wireless trade secrets and other proprietary technology over a period of years starting in 2001. Yeah, it’s crazy. The lawsuit was originally filed in 2008 against four former Motorola engineers and a company called Lemko, all of whom Motorola accused of conspiring to stealing trade secrets related to wireless technology. After years of discovery in the case, it appears that Motorola realized the conspiracy went much deeper than it originally thought, leading the company to file a new complaint on July 16th, in which it named Huawei and nine additional former employees, who allegedly schemed to steal plans for a 3G base station called the SC300

HP TouchSmart tm2 Adds Core i5 Processor to List of Features, Available Now
Back in May , there was a pretty robust rumor making its way around the Internet, saying something to the extent that the HP TouchSmart tm2 convertible laptop would be getting a big improvement in the processor department. It launched “back in the day” with Intel’s Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, and the rumors suggested that Intel would be supplanting that with their own Core i5 CPU. And, sure enough, that’s finally happened. Coming after the launch of the Core i3 CPU variation just a few months back, the i5 is a welcomed addition to the line-up. It still features that same 12-inch multitouch touchscreen, but it can now be installed with a 1.2GHz Core i5-430UM CPU.

Baidu working on own mobile OS with help from ex-Googlers?
Reports in the Chinese media indicate that Baidu, the dominant search engine in China, may consider developing its own mobile operating system. The development would be led by former Google China employees, who have defected to Baidu amid the censorship controversy between the Chinese government and Google. There are very few details known at this point, but early reports seem to indicate that the OS will be open source. If so, this is clearly aimed to be a competitor to Google’s Android, which has been making significant progress in the Chinese market, even helped by the biggest Chinese mobile carriers . As more and more Android handsets are due to be released in China, Baidu saw the need for a mobile OS that would assure its growth in mobile search.
