On The Go and Anywhere! Finally, A Schedule That Follows You
In today’s connected world, business moves at breathtaking speed. Appointments that used to be made weeks or months in advance are now scheduled days or hours ahead of time. Changes in schedule happen more frequently, often on the fly, because of the ease with which the parties can connect. The mobility required in today’s business climate also forces many of us spend more time away from the office and the computer where we maintain our schedule, or those who do it for us. Having the ability to easily and quickly synchronize the devices on which you create and change your schedule is essential.
There are times that I’m so engrossed in my technology-filled life that I forget that not everyone has the same geeky habits and quirks that I have. After reading this article about friends watching TV together in different time zones , I had one of those reactions. Call me an early adopter, but I’ve been doing this since high school, when my then-boyfriend and I used to watch Dawson’s Creek together on the phone. But, like so many other things, technology makes co-watching TV shows even easier, thanks to DVRs and services like Hulu, which allow you easily to watch the same show with a friend from virtually any two locations. Then, add services like Skype , which allow you to talk to friends in real time while you’re watching
Section: Computers , Mobile Computers , Laptops Lenovo has announced a device that we can look forward to seeing in Vegas these next couple of days. It’s titled the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid and it tries to satisfy the needs of an indecisive person in the midst of this tablet “revolution.” As you can see from the above picture, the device serves mainly as a notebook. However, if you are feeling daring, the screen can detach from its base and serve as a tablet. What is really cool is that when the device is “docked” as a notebook its run by a CULV Intel Core 2 Duo processor and runs Windows 7 Home Premium
Converts iPhone into universal remote the L5 Remote Dongle
We all know that there are many apps out there which will allow you to be able to control your Apple computer with your iPhone. That’s all well and good but not much use unless you have a Bluetooth equipped Mac in your home theatre. If you like one of many of us that would just wish to have one single remote control to control your TV and peripherals then the new L% could be just what you are looking for.
Just over a year ago, Rod Simmons from Simple Mobile Review , wrote a great guest post for us on his thoughts on moving to the BlackBerry Storm from and iPhone user point of view . Now he’d like to get something off his chest about BlackBerry App World. Is it just me or is the Blackberry App World a train wreck. Navigating for apps in App World is like getting a grain of sand in your eyes at the beach. You can still see but it annoys the crap out of you the entire time. RIM needs to get a clue, looking to Apple for inspiration would get some benefits but their mobile store is only marginally better.
Garmin Zumo 665 – XM Traffic and XM Weather Overlays
You probably already know about the Garmin Zumo series of motorcycle GPS units that are designed from the ground up to work for motorcyclists; waterproof, glove friendly, and loaded with features like advanced routing capabilities and text to speech. Garmin announced a new Zumo 665 that comes with the GXM 40 XM antenna, giving you access to XM radio (your own subscription is needed), and XM Nav Weather – with up to the minute NAXRAD radar on the unit. Very cool overlay that we’ve been hoping for since Garmin launched a Marine GPS with similar capabilities back in 2006. The XM NavTraffic is also available, but you might not need it while cruising the back roads and cruisers that keep you the heck out of traffic. The List Price is a steep $999, and should be available in Q1 2010.
Garmin Voice Studio – Record your own GPS Voice Commands
Garmin has launched a PC program to allow users to record your voice through the computer, then load the files onto your compatible Nuvi. Sorry no Mac version (hopefully soon), but the program will allow you to create a fun set of commands to make the Nuvi truly yours. Um, TomTom did this type of thing a while ago, and honestly, it was a lot of fun to have a custom set of voice commands. I had a few kids in the family record the commands and it’s still fun to hear the voice tracks years later. The program will allow non-text to speech commands; there are only a finite set of commands, making the whole task about 30 minutes long.

Garmin must have had a decent reception to the ecoRoute , and already laid plans for the implementation of a more powerful, accurate system that plugs into your car to read its onboard computer. The ecoRoute HD plugs into your car’s data port (betchya didn’t know that most newer cars have them) then wirelessly transmits the data stream to compatible Garmin Nuvi units to give you insight into your green driving habits, engine loads, and engine error codes. The cost is $149, but I am not sure the average guy is going to save that much gas by changing your driving habits. The whole thing has to appeal to the inner data geek (like me), to compile reams of information that is casually interesting to pretty much any other data geek

Who would’ve thought renaming your WiFi network could be so useful? Leave it to PassiveAggressiveNotes.com to state truth: “folks with wireless networks still named “linksys” or “trendnet” are clearly missing out on a priceless opportunity to piss off your neighbors.” That’s because, instead of leaving a potentially offensive note on your neighbors doorstep, wasting your to tell them off, you can do so through the magic of WiFi, without getting up from your computer. Don’t believe me
iPhone OS 4.0 Demo Ahead of 2010 Smartphone Release
We have discussed on a number of occasions that Apple are set to unveil its new Tablet device, the iSlate handheld computer at the end of this month. The latest rumors say that the device will run on the new iPhone OS 4.0, which will then be implemented on its 2010 smartphone. If the Apple tablet is to run on the iPhone OS, then a few changes will need to be made, such as an extra screen resolution. The current device to run on iPhone OS 3.1 only has a 3.5-inch screen, the iSlate will have a 10.1-inch display; this will require a much higher resolution. According to Brighthand.com, when the iSlate is announced later this month a new OS 4.0 SDK will be launched, allowing programmers to begin work on new apps for the tablet PC

Eye-Fi Unveils Next Generation Wireless Storage Cards
I am a big fan of things which make my life easier. This past summer, I had the opportunity to check out a device which wholly simplified my life. You see, I very much enjoy taking pictures. My family, however, constantly complains because they never get to see most of these pictures. The problem for me is that by the time I get home from wherever we have been, the last thing I generally want to do is transfer pictures, organize them, and then upload them to my Facebook or online photo storage account. Enter Eye-Fi, the wireless storage card, which allows you to upload photos directly from your camera. Just snap a picture and Eye-Fi will automatically upload it straight from the card to whichever online storage account you indicate. What could be easier? Or better? How about the next generation of Eye-Fi wireless memory cards. Read on for all the details, including faster upload times, a second generation interface, endless memory, and multiple sharing sites
And so the manna begins falling from gadget-heaven . Actually it started falling way before CES officially begins, what with “leaks” and unofficial launches all over the net. Lenovo officially couldn’t wait to show off their new product, so they didn’t bother with rumors or pseudo-leaks and officially announced the Lenovo Ideapad U1 Hybrid before the start of CES as well. And boy, what a gadget: in its conventional notebook form, the Ideapad U1 Hybrid runs Windows 7 and is powered by a Intel Core 2 Duo U4100 CULV CPU

With any luck at all we will see RIM and/or Bell release more OS 5.0 releases for devices like the Tour 9630, and others.
Microsoft set dubious record in 2009. Microsoft set a dubious record in 2009. In the month of October, it released the most updates (13) to address the most vulnerabilities (34) in the history of the company. Ironically, if all the updates released by the company during the year were ignored, a user would still have averted more than 70 percent of all attacks launched during the period–if he or she kept their Microsoft Word patches up to date through June 2006.
Section: Communications , Smartphones , Computers , Mobile Computers Recent rumors about the Apple Tablet and Freescale’s design of a low cost tablet demonstrate the industry’s revived interest in tablets. The operating system used in conjunction with this capacitive touch screen is the new Windows 7 OS. Chinese company hands Apple iPhone trademark; Lenovo starts using AMD chips; and Microsoft loses market share among Web surfers. The company that owned the Chinese trademark “i-phone” – with a dash after the i – has yielded it to Apple, according China’s trademark office, removing what could have become a legal roadblock to sales of the iPhone in China. Hanwang Technology, a Chinese maker of e-readers and other devices, applied for the i-phone trademark for mobile phones in China in 2004, when it also launched a handset by that name that it no longer sells.
