How To Wipe Your BlackBerry And Restore It Back To Factory Defaults

I don’t know why questions often seem to come in bunches, however, over the last week or two, I’ve been asked how to wipe a BlackBerry and restore it back to factory defaults at least half a dozen times.  The process is pretty straight forward, but not something that many BlackBerry users do, so we’ve put together a little tutorial to walk you through it. How To Security Wipe Your BlackBerry Go to your devices Options screen Select Security Options Select Security Wipe Check each of the options that you would like to be wiped from your device Enter “blackberry” to confirm device wipe Click the “Wipe” button Be Careful!!! This process does exactly what it says it does.  Absolutely make sure that you want to do this before you actually do it.  Even if you are sure I recommend getting a good backup of your device before running through this process

BlackBerry 9800 slider shows up again (with BlackBerry OS 6)

RIM’s first slider smartphone – apparently called BlackBerry 9800 – has been spotted in some new hands-on photos, which seem to show that the device runs BlackBerry OS 6 . Furthermore, BBleaks says that the BlackBerry 9800 will be Research in Motion’s first device to use OS 6, which can run on both touch and non-touch phones (like the BlackBerry 9670 clamshell ). The new photos of the 9800 are quite blurry and weird, as you can see below: There’s still no word on the exact features of BlackBerry 9800, but 3G and Wi-Fi should be included. The smartphone will probably be launched by RIM this summer. RIM BlackBerry Slider Appears Again Showing Off BlackBerry 6 OS

We’ve had a bit of a very interesting relationship with the BlackBerry Slider ’round these parts, and we’re honestly glad to see it show up again, especially because it’s boasting a new trick. So, whether you want to call it the Slider, or maybe the BlackBerry T –for Talladega–, here’s your next glimpse of the still unannounced device, running the latest version of Research In Motion’s mobile Operating System, BlackBerry 6. The photos were sent over to BBLeaks , who seem to be the loving home for the BlackBerry Slider early leaks so far, and they show the BlackBerry Slider powered on, and featuring BlackBerry 6, the OS that RIM just showed off

BlackBerry calendar shortcuts

In the past we’ve gone over shortcuts for a number of BlackBerry functions. These include browser , home screen , message screen , and message composition . Today we’re going to look at the calendar application, perhaps the most used native BlackBerry other than messages. There aren’t many of these, so we wont’ be but a minute. For starters, if you want to utilize these shortcuts you’ll have to disable Quick Entry.

BlackBerry Slider 9800 with OS 6 leaks?

RIM’s mysterious BlackBerry slider has surfaced again, and this time it’s apparently running BlackBerry OS 6 .  Images of the phone sent to BBLeaks show what’s believed to be an early version of the new platform – itself expected to arrive in Q3 2010 – as well as our first glimpse of the phone powered on and even a rumored name: the BlackBerry Slider 9800. Previous rumors have tipped the BlackBerry slider as going by the codenames “T” or Talladega, and having both a touchscreen, an optical trackpad and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard for navigation and text input

Aliph Jawbone Icon “The Hero” Bluetooth Headset Review

The Jawbone Icon from Aliph is the 4th and latest in the line of Bluetooth headsets known for their noise cancellation technology.  The Icon has actually been on the scene for several months, however, Aliph just recently added A2DP to Icon allowing you to play streaming audio, music, and podcasts, etc. through the headset. Since I haven’t talked about the Jawbone Icon before I figure that this would be a good time to give it a proper review.

Smartphone Shipments Jump 50% During Q1

People want smartphones, as evident by a new report indicating global smartphone shipments totaled an estimated 54M units during Q1 2010, growing 50% from Q1 2009 when 36M units were shipped. The report, published by Strategy Analytics under the name “Global Smartphone Market Share Update,” also indicates Nokia shipped a record 21.5 million smartphones worldwide in Q1 2010, rising an above-average 57% from 13.7 million units a year earlier. According to the report, RIM shipped 10.6 million smartphones worldwide in Q1 2010-  beating Apple’s record 8.8 million units during the quarter, and positioning itself as the largest mobile device vendor of North American origin, ahead of rivals Apple and Motorola.  RIM’s annual growth rate slowed to just 45 percent in Q1 2010, however, and its new Blackberry OS 6.0 upgrade due in Q3 2010 is badly needed. Smartphones now account for 18% of total handset shipments, with sales being driven largely by healthy operator subsidies, vigorous competition between vendors and a growing tide of lower-cost models using operating software like Symbian and Android, the report suggests

Nokia N8 32GB version rumors, Pre gets cheap on Verizon, Blackberry BlackPad coming

There are some new rumors going around that another version of the Nokia N8 is inbound. The new version is expected to have 32GB of storage rather than the 16GB of storage the current version offers. Verizon has cut the price of the Palm Pre Plus to only $30. Perhaps the new lower price will lure some shoppers to check the device out

BIS 2-way Gmail sync goes live

Not a whole lot to say here other than it looks like RIM has finally flipped the switch on 2-way Gmail sync, a feature of BIS 3.0 , for BIS customers in North America. Overnight our tips line was lit up by BlackBerry addicts who ecstatically reported that 2-way syncing of of read, unread and sent email messages for Gmail accounts was now active, although we should caution we also received reports that the option for syncing came and went ad nauseum

Video: BlackBerry Super Apps Sound Cool… I’d Sure Like To See A Few Developed

At WES2010 last week, RIM put out a video of developers from various companies talking about “Super Apps”.  From the sounds of it, Super Apps are pretty cool BlackBerry applications.  What would be even cooler is if a few BlackBerry Super Apps were actually developed. RIM CEO, Mike Lazaridis says that Facebook and Myspace for BlackBerry are “Super Apps” .  I’ve seen them both of them, and, quite honestly, there is nothing super about either of them less maybe the number of times that they’ve been downloaded. Tweeting is getting more serious, and becoming more mainstream. What was once passed off as the latest fad is fast becoming an important way of keeping in touch and keeping up to date with friends and people of interest. And that is one of the points about Twitter that makes it so successful, the diverse range of people that actually use the service, anyone from celebrities to journalists to Bishops and loads more, too. As we use our phones more often for things like web surfing to viewing videos and taking pics, services like Twitter make it even easier to share as we go

Create your own ringtones with MP3 Ringtone Creator

There are plenty of applications out there that allow you to create your own ringtones. Many of them perform the function for free, using the music already on your computer. That’s the one problem, though. Creating a ringtone on your computer means using that application there, and then transferring the song to your BlackBerry
