Having had the HTC Hero for over a week now, I think it’s time I put my final verdict on the handset in writing. Although a week may not be a long enough time to get an impression of a handset, the Hero has done a pretty stellar job in finally being able to convince me my Nokia N95 IS in fact out of order. RIM To Buy Back $1.2 Billion Worth Of Common Stock
For those of you that follow Research in Motions stock price, you know that it has been rough for the the Waterloo, Ontario based company over the passed 5 or 6 weeks. Back on September 23rd, RIM’s stock (RIMM) was up over $88 per share. Yesterday it closed at $57.61. That being said, RIM’s board has approved a stock repurchase of common shares valuing up to $1.2 billion. That comes to about 21 million shares based on current market prices. RIM can commence with the repurchase starting next Monday, Nov. 9th. I am not an investment professional, nor do I offer financial advice. Mobile phone giant KDDI has teamed up with Tokyo-based Flower Robotics to develop a new concept mobile phone/robot system designed to monitor and learn the user’s behavior and communicate via a home TV set. Pink Tentacle reports. “Called “Polaris,” the prototype system consists of a mobile handset that monitors the user’s daily activities and an artificially intelligent robot sphere that charges the handset and displays data on the user’s TV.The Polaris system is designed to learn the user’s lifestyle by collecting data, analyzing activity, and identifying trends.
