Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of John Lennon’s Birth With A Live Concert Recording

Today John Lennon would have turned 70, had he not been shot in December of 1980. In November of 1980 he released his last record, Double Fantasy, after 5 years on hiatus from music recording

Crazy Indian Government

As part of security measures by the Indian government ahead of the double trouble of the CWG and the Babri Masjid hearing, they’ve put in place some very intuitive plans to curb communication among wanna-be terrorists and villains. They do this by ordering Indian telecom service providers to monitor all individuals who send more than 10 messages per day and all companies who send more than 100

Gear Deal: October is ProClip USA Customer Appreciation Month with a 10% Discount

I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly worrying about having to juggle my iPhone (with the map on it) while I’m driving.  I don’t want to–it’s dangerous, and makes me nervous as heck.  And personally, I hate those vocal, turn-by-turn programs–”In 100 feet, turn right!” generic woman with bland voice says brightly.  It’s not for me. Proclip has always offered multiple solutions, and this month there’s an incentive to buy one and stop my stressful juggling attempts:  they are offering 10% off of their products at checkout time.

Online Tool to Compare Cellphone Features

There are so many great phones available right now, that it can be difficult to pick one. Flipping back and forth between vendor and carrier sites to read hardware specs isn’t always the easiest task. Luckily for you, someone is trying to fix that problem by creating a cellphone comparison site. It’s called Compare Cellphones and it will let you do just that.

floppy disk sticky notes

I remember my first 3.5-inch disk. It was a copy of MacPaint on the original Mac 128k, and it was so amazing compared to the 5.25 and 8-inch floppies of my youth. Eventually, I had boxes and boxes of the little hard-shelled floppies, each one with various and sundry Mac wares (and WareZ) loaded on them, and some cryptic description scrawled on the label. Now that the venerable floppy has gone the way of the dinosaur, I figure these fun floppy sticky notes are the perfect remembrance.

iphone + ds = fujitsu concept phone

Fujitsu seems to be a staunch believer in the saying that more is better. The company showed off a dual-touchscreen smartphone concept at CEATEC 2010. Seeing it in action, it’s not that far out, allowing for portrait and landscape view via a handy “swing action” feature. The screens are quite narrow, so landscape view is indeed the best way to make the most out of this phone. Click to View Embedded Video Clip Both screens seem responsive, but if I had this phone I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the huge gap in the middle

Felwig Software Releases Firmament for iGizmos

There are some words, as Dave Barry pointed out, that are inherently funny.  He liked the word “booger,” but there are other words that fit the bill.  (He also enjoyed “weasel”–don’t ask me why.) And then there are words that, to me, just sound cool all on their own.  ”Vector.”  ”Glacial.”  And one of my other favorites is now a game:  ”Firmament.”  This has nothing to do with the game itself, of course; I just like to spice up these news items a bit. Anyway.

scosche sneakpeek 2 makes it easy to hook an ipad or iphone to your tv

There are a lot of folks out there who have an iPad or iPhone that  like to stream content with from various sources like YouTube, Netflix, their video camera or their media library. The catch is that it can be a hassle getting that video onto a larger screen for viewing. You can use a dock that has TV outputs, but those tend to take up a lot of space and if your entertainment center is as crowded as mine that can be an issue

papercraft minecraft: low-res cuteness

Fans of Minecraft – perhaps the only video game that justifies a purchase despite being in alpha – love to build, so they’ll undoubtedly be ecstatic about this: This lovely diorama of country scenery – slightly marred by the presence of the most disturbing likeness of a pig that I have ever seen – was made by Tumblr blogger Jumbso . If you want to make your own papercraft Minecraft , you can print the templates made by Minecraft forum member Bearodactyl. True to the game, you’ll have to print and construct your mine, fortress or what have you one block at a time

Stauer 1930 Dashtronic Watch

The Stauer 1930 Dashtronic Watch has a look inspired by the machine-age designs of the 1930s.  Everything – from cars to toasters – had a sleek, streamlined look then.  Even watches were influenced by the industrial designers of the period, and a new watch complication was introduced.  Instead of hands, time was displayed by a “jumping mechanism,” which displayed numerals on a dial and looked like a speedometer in a car.  This 1930 Dashtronic watch doesn’t use a real jumping mechanism, but it does look like those watches.  It has 21 jewels and is water-resistant to 3-ATM.  It has a stainless steel case and a black aligator-embossed leather band.  This is an automatic watch, meaning no winding and no batteries are needed.  It has a mineral crystal over the time dial and a clear back so you can see the watch works as they … work.  The watch case is 1.5″, and the band is 9.5″ long and fits a 7-8.5″ wrist.  The limited-edition  Stauer 1930 Dashtronic Watch sells for … [ visit site to read more ] Filed in categories: News , Watches and Clocks Tagged: Automatic watch , Watches and Clocks Stauer 1930 Dashtronic Watch originally appeared on The Gadgeteer on October 10, 2010 at 7:00 am.

Status Bar Icons on Windows Phone 7 : what do they mean ?

WP7-status-bar-icons The icons on the status bar at the top of the screen gives the owner a lot of useful and important info about their phone. You can get information ranging from the remaining power in the battery, signal strength, current time and more. When you want the status bar to display, just tap the top of your screen. By default, only the system clock is always visible. If a user double taps in the Status Bar area, all other relevant indicators slide into view for approximately eight seconds before sliding out of view

720p Video: Very weird unboxing (smashing) of the Nokia N8 – filmed by the Nokia N8

As “UNBOXINGS” go, this is one of the weirdest ones I’ve ever seen. But hey, kudos to N8 for inspiring even crazy people to unbox it on camera and later getting them decent any time/anywhere HD cams to share their craziness world wide. The guy, aptly named Mr Tard Mo has uploaded a couple of vids shot by his new N8 which he’s gone (even more) crazy for

The Value of Tracking Software

Today, you can hardly see someone who does not have his or her own mobile phone. GPS tracking devices weren’t popular before and only the military were using them. These devices were used to track their units and even enemy targets. However, these days, there are lots of GPS tracking devices especially for vehicles. In fact mobile companies are adding GPS tracking features in their services.

Special Edition Pico-C 64GB Flash Drive is Small in Bling High in Capacity

It’s so nice to talk about gold plated flash drives again – it’s been a long time . The Super Talent Pico-C 64GB Special Edition 24kt gold plated is your typical USB flash drive bling, that can be attached to a keychain or worn as a necklace. It has a nice data transfer speed of 30 MB/s and is also weather resistant. The Pico-C 24kt 64GB USB Flash Drive retails for about $168 online – which is probably for the value of the gold not the size of the memory.

If your employer offers free advice on 401(k)s and retirement planning — use it

When I’m in a hurry at the supermarket, I head for the self-service terminals to ring up and bag my groceries. But occasionally I have trouble. At the store where I shop, there’s always a cashier ready to help. Clearly, the supermarket management recognized that customers would still need help in the self-service lines.
