Unboxing Pics: Nokia N8

These pics were taken by Vaibhav Sharma of The HandHeld Blog . As you can see the packaging of the phone looks very sleek giving us a sneak preview of whats going to be inside. The packaging matches the phone’s design. It seems Nokia is now putting more emphasize n how they package their products, just the way Apple does.

Nokia N8 unboxing

The good folks at TheHandheldblog got a preview of the N8 in its exact retail packaging and did an unboxing for our pleasure. As you can see the box is TINY !!! which is really nice in my opinion and I really like that Nokia are also going for the their traditional blue colouring for their packaging. The contents of the box for different markets will be different like a stylus for the Asian market. I am seriously considering buying an N8 now I have flip flopped the idea between then when it was announced and now and pretty much ruled it out a while ago but after using other platforms for extensive periods I don’t see a huge difference between them and Symbian now and I am thinking of selling my Nokia E72 to part fund it we will wait and see I guess……..

Open screen project

This is a very cool project where YOU guys can get money to turn an app idea into a reality and get it distributed using the Ovi App store An app called Twittle funded by the Open Screen Project very impressive indeed It seems like Nokia are really stepping up their game with the App front encouraging developers to get on board makes sense as developers for the iOS and Android devices will not be able to make money there for ever they will have to come over and develop for Nokia too to make a good living. I am guessing there will also be a large number of apps being launched around the time the N8 launches. Now I need to get my lazy behind to learn Qt already, I have the SDK donwloaded now need some motivation via openscreenproject.org

D’oh! VolumeSnap was rejected by Apple (again)

Remember when we posted about VolumeSnap for Camera+ being resubmitted and everything was double rainbows and happiness? Sigh. Well, it looks like VolumeSnap (which maps the shutter button to the volume buttons on the iPhone) has been rejected once again. Despite the fact that there are other apps on the App Store that use the volume button for things other than device volume, Apple has chosen to stand their ground, claiming that those other developers simply snuck the feature in. The folks at at tap tap tap don’t seem terribly discouraged, though.

Monster Dash hitting App Store on August 19th, but the trailer is here now

There comes a time in every man’s life where he is left with no other choice but to run to the right, or die. Instead of hiding from this truth, the developers of Halfbrick Studios have developed an entire simulator around this scenario, and cleverly disguised it as a game. They call it “ Monster Dash “, and instead of slashing fruit, you’ll be tasked with jumping over and gunning down waves of zombies, mummies, and vampires. The premise definitely looks like fun, but I think only real hands-on time on August 19th will tell me if it’s anything different from “Canabalt with guns” (actually, that sounds kinda cool). © Ragart for Just Another iPhone Blog , 2010.
