According to Brandon Watson from manyniches.com Quote : I’m here at TechEd, and there’s a lot of talk about Windows Phone 7 devices and when they are going to be made available. One cool thing that the team is doing is handing out coupons to event attendees redeemable for general availability devices when they start shipping. We’re only handing out around 50 or so of these coupons, so it’s definitely not a broad distribution. It’s meant for people who are attending sessions or wearing Windows Phone hats around the show floor. Developer devices are also on everyone’s lips
Preparations for Windows Phone 7 are starting to ramp up now, as Microsoft seems to clearly be trying to deal with the “No Apps” issue in advance by educating and promoting a development community for the new release. Microsoft has decided that the best way to do this is to work from the ground up, focusing on students rather then relying on wrestling devs away from Apple or Android

You might recall that Sprint boasted the HTC EVO 4G had sold more units its opening day than the Instinct and Pre did in three days. Apparently, the math was wrong and Sprint has admitted it tripled the sales figures by mistake.

Verizon is readying two new Motorola Android phones for the coming months. One of them is the Motorola Shadow / Xtreme – appeared until now in several leaked photos. The other one is the Motorola Droid 2 (A955). Reportedly, the Droid 2 A955 has features similar to the ones of the Shadow / Xtreme, but it’s thicker because, like the first Droid, it has a sliding QWERTY keyboard

Well now, it looks like the likes of the HTC EVO 4G and the new iPhone 4 just may have a new challenged on its way as the image you can see is reportedly an image of the new Motorola Droid 2 smartphone. According to an article by Sam Kieldsen over at Electricpig , the image of the Motorola Droid 2 was originally posted by Droid Life and shows a spy shot of the touch screen with the Motorola logo and Android activation screen depicting “A955.” Apparently the “A955” marking is the purported codename for the Motorola Droid 2 device; however as the image is somewhat blurred it is difficult to be completely sure, but it doesn’t look like the Motorola Shadow we’ve seen before, it isn’t the same shape and the physical buttons below the screen on the Motorola Shadow are also missing on this device. So with that in mind, this new spy shot could well be the next device in the Droid line, the Motorola Droid 2 , but then again it may not be, so we’ll keep our opinions open on this one until there is more hard confirmation, until then we’ll keep you informed.

One of the things that has always bothered me about the way the iPhone gives me notifications is that they are very intrusive. You can’t ignore them if you don’t care what they say and you can’t finish what you are working on at the time the notification appears without fussing with the notification. Palm’s Pre and Pixi on the other hand have slick notification banners you can ignore easily. Depending on if you are an iPhone fan or a big supporter of webOS devices, this will be good news or bad news. The guy at Palm – Rich Dellinger – who was responsible for the webOS’ slick notification banners has left Palm and headed to Apple.

Remember when Sprint said this : “The total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.” Nuh uh, it’s wrong. Sprint just issued a correction in the wee hours stating that first day EVO 4G sales were, in reality, “in line with” the number of Instincts and Pres sold over their first three days on the market combined

If you’re looking for an inexpensive way to take creative 360° panoramic photos onto 35mm film then Lomography’s Spinner Camera is a compact solution for just that. Standard panoramic pictures can normally only capture up to 120° in perspective at the Spinner camera is capable of true 360° photos. To take a 360° photo just hold the Spinner camera in one hand, pull the cord with the other, then release to see the camera spin 360° in less than a second capturing your image on film.

Southend Interactive’s upcoming Xbox Live Arcade game ilomilo is as charming as Little Big Planet , and it’s gameplay looks like it can be as dizzying as Super Mario Galaxy . I don’t think I would last long playing this game though; the bright colors and the ever-changing planes would make me barf.

A company called Ubimark released a version of the Jules Verne classic Around the World in 80 Days . Unlike other printed books, the Ubimark version has QR codes, the square ones that are frequently used as bar codes. This time the QR codes act as hyperlinks.

I’m not a big fan of Mac computers for myself, but I won’t deny that the machines have a sexy design with the aluminum enclosure and minimalist looks. The Mac world has its own peripherals and accessories to go along with its file system and Western Digital has announced a new external storage solution pre-formatted for Mac users. The new external storage device is the My Book Studio LX . It sports an all-metal enclosure that matches the finish on the MacBook line of notebooks. Connectivity for the drive is via FireWire 800, it has a customizable e-label on the front, and hardware based encryption

If you’ve kept even half an eye on the low-power computing industry over the past couple of years, you can’t have missed Pixel Qi ’s 3qi display technology and the excitement surrounding what an ultra-low-power screen could do for mobile devices. Now it seems Pixel Qi could have another competitor on their hands, this time from CPT , whose 1366 x 768 transflective panel apparently draws 50-percent less power than a regular LCD, despite coming in at 200 nits brightness and with a contrast ratio of 400:1

12-year old Norweigan Hans Jørgen Olsen saved himself and his sister from being harmed by an angry moose by emulating skills he learned from World of Warcraft . According to NextNature, the Olsen siblings “trespassed the territory of the moose during a walk in the forest near their home.” When the moose attacked, Hans used the Warrior ability Taunt , i.e. he taunted the moose, thereby allowing his sister to escape. One of the things that many folks who work exclusively from notebooks want is a notebook riser to put the screen at a more comfortable level. Many of these same folks also like to listen to music while they work and end up adding external speakers to their notebook as well. SMK-Link (PDF) has announced a new Notebook USB Audio Station that will allow the user to raise the screen and get better sound in one device. The Notebook USB audio station raised the screen of the notebook 26-degrees for eye level viewing and needs only a USB port to connect the integrated speakers.
