Distributed Flight Array
Though it is in the beginning stages of development, the Distributed Flight Array is already looking very interesting. Each unit can scuttle across the ground using the down force from its prop, but when 4 or more join forces, they can take off and fly. The documentation shows that they should be smart enough to fly in random configurations, though in the video we only see the standard 4 prop layout. This is being worked on by the same people who produced the balancing cube . [via BoingBoing ]

Putting solar panels on the roof will do your energy bill a lot of good, but won’t necessarily help any other aspect of your house. Install a fleet of solar windows, however, and you could have more natural light to go right along with your additional enviro-smugness

LuminAR digital desk-lamp packs pico, camera & gesture UI [Video]
We’ve seen combinations of pico-projectors and cameras used for new interface systems before – perhaps most memorably the wearable “Sixth Sense” computer – but MIT Media Lab researcher’s Natan Linder’s LuminAR is perhaps the first to include an angle-poise robot too. At its core, the “LuminAR bulb” is a pico-projector, a camera and the necessary electronics combined into a standard screw-mount, capable of projecting an interface onto your table or wall and tracking touch and motion gestures you make toward it.

Sprint erred in EVO 4G sales figure comparison, still sold out
Yesterday, Sprint confessed that it may have overestimated the opening weekend sales figures for the hottest new phone available to the general public; the HTC EVO 4G. Sprint explains: “We originally reported that the total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was three times the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first three days on the market combined.” Sprint then went onto say, “we inadvertently erred in the comparison.” The metaphor misnomer has led BTIG analyst, Walter Piecyk, to lower his EVO 4G weekend sales estimate from 300,000 units to around 150,000 units. Not that it matters much…the EVO is still the talk of the town, and in short supply with high demand. With the momentum the 4G handset has, we’re sure it will hit that 300,000 figure in no time at all. Read

Sprint corrects HTC EVO 4G sales figures
On June 7th Sprint issued a press release that said sales of the HTC EVO 4G were so strong that Sprint sold three times the amount of phones on launch day as it did with the Palm Pre and the Instinct combined. An updated press release from Sprint says that the company “inadvertently erred in the comparison.” The total number of HTC EVO 4G devices sold on launch day was in line with the number of Samsung Instinct and Palm Pre devices sold over their first days on the market combined.” The sales were still a record, there just weren’t as many units sold as was originally reported. Five aigo Android tablets launched: Tegra & 3G namechecked
aigo have been showing off their aigoPad tablets in China again, with their CEO promising five different models – various boasting 4-, 5- and 7-inch screen sizes – launching from July 2010. Interestingly, Shanzhaiben’s photos from the launch (note that “aigo” translates as “patriot” since that’s the Chinese meaning) only seem to show two of the units – what looks to be the smallest and largest versions – and neither bears a huge resemblance to the renders we’ve seen before . As for specifications, there’s talk of the same NVIDIA Tegra chipset as we heard last time, together with 3G and WiFi connectivity

iPhone 4 At Best Buy and RadioShack as of Launch Day
So where to grab hold of your shiny new, mouth-watering iPhone 4 once it becomes available? Well apparently all you need to do is take a walk down to your local Best Buy or RadioShack store. According to Ross Miller over on Engadget , “trusted sources” have said that the sparkling new iPhone 4 will be with Best Buy at launch and will apparently have 30 32GB iPhone 4 and 15 16GB iPhone 4 units at each store, not too sure that will be enough though. Apparently employee purchases of the iPhone 4 has been banned so at least what inventory they do have will be available to the public, although nothing has been confirmed but apparently the source has been pretty reliable in the past

Macintosh Classic iPad Mod
It seems that mods using the iPad and old Mac computers are popular at the moment, yesterday we saw the iPad iBook mod , today we have a Macintosh Classic iPad Mod. The modder used an empty shell of a Macintosh Classic, and the iPad is a perfect fit, although the iPad’s home button is covered, check out the video of it in action below. I am sure we will see quite a few iPad mods over the coming months using old Mac computers, and who knows maybe even some PCs.

Video: BlackBerry 9670 clamshell and BB OS 6.0 demoed
While not the first video appearance of our peculiar clamshell friend, the BlackBerry 9670, this latest hands-on is the most extensive. Clocking in at a combined 12 minutes, Driphter have uploaded two videos of the new device, which I’ve embedded for you, below. First up is a 1m 33s “hardware review” which doesn’t really expose anything more than we’ve already seen. The narrator comments on the wasted space around the keyboard, but does say that the large 480 x 360 screen should make browsing “pleasant”. The second video is the juicy one, however, as it gives us the most in-depth look at the upcoming OS we’ve seen yet.
