Prepare to be pulled over – Scosche unveils its iPad car mount

Oddly enough just yesterday morning I tried to put my iPad into a Magellan iPhone GPS cradle to see if I could use any core location-based navigation apps on the iPad, and the answer was unfortunately “No”. However, despite navigation apps apparently not being an option on the iPad, it looks like Scosche

My experience with the iDroid alpha, Android 1.6 on the iPhone 2G

[ Warning: this is just a hands-on account of the experience with the alpha version of iDroid. JAiB is not suggesting you run out and risk bricking your device by hacking a foreign OS onto Apple hardware.] A little while ago I linked to the Linux on iPhone blog and PlanetBeing’s port of Android to the 2G. I was so intrigued by the prospect that I dug my “old” iPhone 2G out, read up on the instructions , and (three hours later) booted Android 1.6 up.

MeeGo-based LG GW990 won’t be commercially available

First showcased by LG in January this year, the LG GW990 will apparently not hit the market, ever. LG initially said that the GW990 would be launched in the second half of 2010. When the handset was unveiled, it had Moblin on it, and it was LG’s first device to be powered by Intel’s Moorestown processor. Since Moblin was merged with Maemo in February to become MeeGo , the GW900 should have made the transition too, and feature MeeGo at launch. However, it looks like LG thinks that further developing the GW990 is not a good idea, as it has just told Phone Arena that the device was merely a concept and it won’t be available for purchase.

Microsoft has killed the dual-screened Courier tablet [Microsoft Courier is dead]

Section: Computers , Mobile Computers According to some recent reports, it looks like Microsoft has killed the Courier, and killed in before it was even officially announced. Seems funny that this would be cancelled, after all, this was one Microsoft product that people were really buzzing about. But alas, it will not be coming to market and here is the official statement, which comes courtesy of Frank Shaw, Microsoft’s VP of corporate communications; “At any given time, we’re looking at new ideas, investigating, testing, incubating them. It’s in our DNA to develop new form factors and natural user interfaces to foster productivity and creativity. The Courier project is an example of this type of effort

Apple overtakes Motorola as largest US handset manufacturer

TUAW reported recently that Apple has surpassed Motorola to become the largest handset maker in the US. I actually think Motorola has some very interesting devices on the market now (the Droid is a beautiful, solid slider), but I can’t help but grin about iPhones usurping the Moto Razr throne. I hated that phone and its interface, so there’s a sick little bit of satisfaction that I feel about Apple’s 8.8 million to Motorola’s 8.5 million handsets sold (in the first quarter of 2010). Schadenfreude isn’t good for you, though, so I’ll stop gloating now. © Ragart for Just Another iPhone Blog , 2010.

Bang! An Illustration About The History of Everything

Now a days people’s entertainment knowledge is given more credit then their science knowledge. Even though it would be better to know how our universe was created then to know all funny quotes of a certain geeky TV show. I’m first to say that I need to beef up my knowledge of relevant things rather then filling my brains with information that won’t make it in any school books in the future. Most of us geeks are fans of the TV show The Big Bang Theory but until recently I could only tell you that the Big Bang was an explosion that created matter and existence. The details where beyond me.
