Comment: Nokia’s Creative Community

Where did everyone go? This is a question I’ve been asking myself of late. I’m not talking about the geeks, the early adopters or even the mass market, I’m referring to Nokia’s creative community. Cast your minds back just three years… The newly crowned king of cameraphones featured on Flickr was the Nokia N73, by the end of 2007 the N95 was moving rapidly towards the top of this list

Nokia VP: N97 taught company some tough lessons

Nokia VP: N97 taught company some tough lessons By Chris Ziegler posted Feb 23rd 2010 2:18PM It’s unusual for a company to publicly admit its shortcomings — particularly a company as big, proud, and resolute as Nokia generally seems to be — but an All About Symbian / Mobile Industry Review joint interview with Anssi Vanjoki, vice president of markets, at MWC last week painted a very different picture with regard to Espoo’s views on the maligned N97 . Though he says that the phone absolutely met the company’s goals for sales volume and revenue, it was a “tremendous disappointment in terms of the experience quality for the consumers and something [they] did not anticipate.” This isn’t a sob story, though: he uses the opportunity to note that they’ve completely closed the gap on software quality for the flagship device, launching new firmware first in Norway where the response has been positive

N900: Day 7. Photography. Conclusion

As this multipart review of Nokia’s Maemo flagship draws to a close, it’s time to start drawing some conclusions. There is a large tribe of Nokia fans that stay loyal to the largest phone manufacturer simply because they know that Nokia will deliver a good all round photographic experience. Does the N900 deliver the goods? The camera unit in the N900 performs in much the same way as many other Nokia Nseries devices. It’s fast, performs well in low light, provides plenty of detail but with patchy colour accuracy.

Styles and fashion are not only for clothing and shoes but also for technology. Nowadays, touch-screen phones like Nexus One are very popular among city people. It is also fashion since I can see a lot of people start using touch-screened phones .  However, those busy city people don’t feel enough and their needs are not really fulfilled. Mobile World Congress 2010 (#mwc10) Summary

BARCELONA-With the MWC maelstrom over, now is a good time for me to reflect on last week’s show and share my thoughts about the experience. This was my fourth Mobile World Congress and while it may not put me in the Veterans Club (and my repeated meetings with mobilists from the ‘Cannes days’ made me keenly aware of this), it does give me some insight into how the mobile ecosystem is evolving, at least since the dawn of the ‘Mobile 2.0′ days. Overall, attendance was probably lower than last year and the fill-rate of the trade floor was below 100%, but this was no surprise.

Nokia X10 Symbian S^3 QWERTY slider revealed in leaked documentation?

Nokia X10 Symbian S^3 QWERTY slider revealed in leaked documentation? By Paul Miller posted Feb 20th 2010 2:23PM Some supposed Nokia X10 “release documents” have been caught on video and are now making their presumably illicit way around the web. Of course, this would be pretty trivial to fake, so do please put on your skepticism pants before reading further. The docs detail a QWERTY sliders handset dubbed the X10, a seeming followup to Nokia’s capacitive-equipped X6, but which runs Symbian S^3. In fact, it claims to be the first phone to do so, with a ARM Cortex A8 600MHz processor to help it out in such a mission, along with 256MB of RAM, 32GB or 16GB of internal storage and a 3.2-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen

The Nokia X6 now comes in a 16GB option

The Nokia X6 now comes in a 16GB option by Chris Pike in Technology / Cell Phones (submitted 2010-02-12) The popular handset known as the Nokia X6 is now available in a 16GB silver version. The handset still retains the usual accoutrements and style that have made it a popular choice among the consumer, however with the amended memory capacity it takes the handset onto another level. The unit utilises the Symbian series 60, version 9.4, operating system in addition to the ARM 11 434 MHz processor, both of which provide a reliable and stable platform by which the functionality can flourish. The handsets 3.2 inch TFT touch screen provides the means to display 16 million colours, which ensures image quality is second to none
