Boost gets back into CDMA game in a big way

Boost gets back into CDMA game in a big way In the ‘press releases we missed while going out of our gourds on the show floor at CES’ department, Sprint’s Boost Mobile is getting back into CDMA in a big way this month. It wasn’t long ago that Boost swore off its CDMA tendencies as iDEN started to heat up again against all odds — thanks largely to the release of hot (well, hot by iDEN standards, anyway) devices like the Stature — but CDMA makes a lot more sense now that the parent company has scooped up Virgin and smartly has no interest in running two separate, unrelated prepaid divisions. Anyhow, the gist of the announcement is that Boost will be reinvesting heavily in its $50 monthly unlimited plan for CDMA devices and has brought on three inaugural handsets to help kick it off: the Mirro and Incognito (Sprint version pictured) from Sanyo alongside the venerable BlackBerry Curve 8330 .

Built on the open Android operating system and powered by a 1GHz CPU, the docomo Smartphone Xperia with 4.0-inch touchscreen features Mediascape, a Sony Ericsson signature application for intuitive organization of music, photos and videos. Pantech Sky IM-U560K is small, slick, and very pastel

Pantech Sky IM-U560K is small, slick, and very pastel Pantech ‘s Sky IM-U560K is a small slider set to launch — in four soft pastel hues — on Korea’s Sky in the near future. One of the IM-U560K shining features is handset control via gestures — with a shake or twist of the phone, for example, you can scroll and slide through the interface without having to lay a single finger on its 2.6-inch touchscreen. Other notables include a DMB TV tuner, the usual MP3 player, 3 megapixel camera, photo and video modes, and a potentially useful Korean to English text-to-speech app (we can at least hope it trumps the translation Google coughed up for this Korean-to-English post). As a bonus, the IM-U560K’s packaging is eco-friendly using soybean inks printed on 100% recycled paper — replacing, we assume, whatever toxic substances were used in the past.

Porsche Design working hard for the money, brings back P’9522 in black

Porsche Design working hard for the money, brings back P’9522 in black More than a year after releasing the P’9522 , you’d think that Porsche Design would have something a little more… well, Porsche up its sleeve than just another color, but make no mistake: this latest incarnation of the pricey candybar is nothing more than a repainted version of the original. As a refresher, it’s got a 5 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, microSD expansion, a 2.8-inch display (they make it look bigger than that in the press shot, don’t they?) and a fingerprint scanner up front to make sure the baddies don’t get all up in your business should the phone get stolen. For a company so steeped in the tradition of speed, you’d think they’d at least have taken the opportunity to add in 3G, but alas, this handset’s fast in name only. Anyhow, you should be able to pick up this remixed version now in overpriced boutiques around the globe

N900 Video: Send & Receive MMS (using fMMS)

Ok, I’ve had the fMMS application on my phone for a little while and just recently worked out how to get it configured for my phone so thought I’d share it with you all. Note: This application is in the extras-devel application catalogue so as always be careful installing anything from there…you don’t want to mess up your phone. (sorry for the varying quality…still getting used to my camera and video editor) I hope this has helped and I just wanted to add a couple of things: Although I said in the video you can’t add another APN, I just found out you can using fAPN from the extras-testing catalogue. Always enter numbers in international format, i.e.

Video: Numpty Physics on the N900 – Incredible interactive drawing puzzle game

Numpty Physics is a brilliant game enjoyed by tablet users since the days of the 770, and its compatible for N900 owners too! The basic premise of the game is to get the red thing (may change per level; here it’s the start button) towards the yellow thing (in this case, a star). You do this by drawing a myriad of tools from other boulders, levers, pulleys, pendulums and more. Certain objects obey (or try to) the laws of physics (hence the name). e.g.

FLO TV is a new service that streams high resolution Live TV to compatible cell phones and portable devices. Their flagship hardware is the FLO TV Personal Television . The device is a touchscreen handheld device that weighs 156g and is similar in size to an iPhone, with a convenient built-in kickstand. We were initially very impressed with the device when we first got to check it out , but now that we finally got a chance to put our review sample through its paces, we can recommend the FLO TV Personal TV, even though it’s a first generation device

Apple rushing tablet talks with AT&T and Verizon? – Electronista
